Both IIIT Allahabad and second-generation IITs are amongst the top government engineering colleges and they take admission through JEE Advanced.
IIIT Allahabad holds 1st position in the JoSAA rankings and ranks among the top 10 government institutes in India Outlook Ranking. It even has a better ranking than IIT Dharwad, IIT Bhilai, IIT Gandhinagar, and IIT Jodhpur. The infrastructure of IIIT Allahabad is also far better than the new IIT’s. The new IITs will take some time to get established.
As per the placement statistics of 2019-20 of IIIT Allahabad, around 96% of students got placed, the average package was INR 20.83 LPA, the highest package was INR 43 LPA and around 120 companies visited the campus for placement.
In case you want the brand value of IIT then you may go for second-generation IITs but in other aspects IIIT Allahabad is good.
