Which is better: Delhi University or Punjab University?

According to NIRF rankings most colleges of Delhi University are ranked in the top tier. Factors that set DU above Punjab University for the Honours courses are:

• Delhi being the national capital is more accessible.

• Lady Shri Ram, St. Stephen's, Hindu, Shahid Sukhdev college are some of the top ranked colleges in the country and continent.

• A strong alumni network builds a strong foundation in the industry and withholds the reputation.

• Internship and fellowship opportunities in foreign universities like Yale, UCB, Oxford.

• Distinguished, dedicated and felicitated faculty members.

• Cultural and academic diversity enhances life and professional skills and aims at holistic development.

Some of the finest brains of the industry are prodigies of the Delhi university, recruited by top organisations like McKinsey, BCG, Standard Chartered, SW and many others offering an average package of 7.3 LPA, while Bank of America offered the highest package of 37.8 LPA last year. Over the decades, the university has witnessed students from all departments not only being offered internships but also recruited at a consistent rate by the top-rated companies in the industry. In the 2018-19 academic session, nearly 300 internship offers were rolled out in just LSR College with over 150 industry giants like Nestle, Dell, Bloomberg, AIG to name a few. Over 150 paid internships were offered to the students, the highest internship offer stood at INR 1,50,000 for 2 months. The average stipend was nearly INR 9,750 per month.

On the other hand, Punjab university is better off in engineering colleges as compared to DU as ranked by NIRF. They currently have many ongoing research projects collaborated with government and international agencies. One of the major projects is the International Collaboration for Research for Elementary Particles and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) CERN, Geneva CMS Experiment with a Government of India grant of Rs. 2.49 Crores.
