Dual Degree B.Tech+M.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (2021)

You need more than 8.8 CGPA to change to Electrical Engineering from Civil Engineering. The required cutoff varies depending on various factors like competition, the number of seats available, etc. But the cutoff stays in the band of 8.8 - 9.5. In case of a tie, the student who had a better JEE Advance rank is given priority.

To change branches in IIT Bhubaneswar you will need more than 8.5 CGPA. Students of IIT Bhubaneswar can change their branch after the second semester(spring semester). The rules for all branches are the same.

  1. Students who wish to change their branch must complete all the credits required in the first two semesters of their studies. CGPA must not lower than 8.5 at the end of the second semester.
  2. Students in 4-year B.Tech courses are eligible to apply for a change of branch in any engineering(4-Year or 5-Year dual degree) course.
  3. The selection is strictly based on the merit of the applicants. For branch change, those applicants will be considered first who have secured a rank within the top 1%, rounded to the nearest integer, amongst all the first-year students in terms of CGPA scored at the end of the second semester(spring semester). In case of ties, the deciding factor is the JEE rank of the applicants.
  4. Students who are interested in changing their courses may enlist up to 5 choices of the branch as per preferences. Once the application is submitted you can't make any alteration to the choices.
  5. Change of course in IIT Bhubaneswar is final, once done you can't change further.
