Which is the best option - IIT Bhubaneswar for ECE or IIT Chennai for chemical engineering?

A
Admin Posted On : July 2nd, 2024

I am a third year B.Tech ECE student at IIT Bhubaneswar. ECE is one of the newer branches at IIT Bhubaneswar. Its first batch graduated in 2020.

The number of software companies that come for recruitment of ECE students is comparatively more than core companies. Marwell Electronics and Qualcomm are the core companies that recruit ECE students from IIT Bhubaneswar. Amazon, Microsoft, HSBC, Mathworks, Oyo, and Razorpay offer software related jobs to ECE students.

Here are the 2023 placement figures for B.Tech ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar and B.Tech Chemical at IIT Madras:

Branch IIT Bhubaneswar ECE IIT Madras Chemical
Percentage Placed 90.91% -
Highest CTC INR 44.62 LPA INR 66.00 LPA
Lowest CTC INR 9.65 LPA INR 6.00 LPA
Average CTC INR 22.85 LPA -
Median CTC INR 18 LPA INR 17.00 LPA

I would recommend B.Tech ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar over Chemical Engineering at IIT Madras because the former offers better placements in terms of median and lowest packages.

How good is the EEE Department in IEM Kolkata ?

CR
Chandrakana Ray Posted On : February 19th, 2021
B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering, Institute of Engineering and Management (2018)

IEM Kolkata as a college is just focused on getting marks and secure jobs during campus placements rather than providing quality education to its students to get some knowledge. The students were told to sit in campus placements with UEM students which was considered to be a very dis-organized step taken by the college.

The environment inside the college is very bad and the curriculum for students is worse. My sister studied here and she mentioned how the students are only concerned about getting any kind of job during the campus placement so the institution can maintain their reputation resulting in more admissions in the coming years.

Categories

IEM Kolkata

Course Fees

5.83 lakh

Placement Percentage

70-75%

Highest CTC

15 LPA

Average CTC

5-6 LPA

Lowest CTC

2.5 LPA

Recruiting Companies

TCS, Wipro, Infosys, HCL, Hitachi, SAP Lab.

They don't care about improving the knowledge or skills of a student. The rules of the college are really difficult sometimes. Like if you're seen at the library you can be restricted for bunking class. Also the teachers are very rude and the students are scared of them.

These things leave a bad impression on the students about the department and the college too and ruin the name of the college. These problems should be solved immediately and not only in this college, it should be fixed in every college where such things happen.

Which should be preffered IIT bhu electrical or BITS pilani EEE?

PR
Parag Roy Posted On : August 14th, 2020
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (IIT BHU) (2016)

Both institutes are among the top institutions in India. So decide accordingly based on the following factors -

According to NIRF Ranking 2019, BITS Pilani is ranked at 39 and IIT BHU at 28. So the numbers show that IIT BHU has performed better over BITS Pilani in terms of infrastructure, faculties, research facilities, outreach, and location.

The IITs being run by the government body, the fee structure is less as compared to BITS Pilani. Also being government institutions, IITs have fee waiver schemes available, unlike BITS.

Electrical at IIT BHU includes only the core electrical subjects which is why a lot of the students end up preparing for software/hardware companies for the placement with a decent package since there are few companies employing core electrical students. On the other hand, BITS Pilani has a combined electrical and electronics engineering course which provides students with the knowledge of both the areas as the industry demands so and also provides opportunities in various areas. So if you are interested in learning more and in-depth about the subject, BITS Pilani should be the choice. Being a private institute, they have very flexible and effective course structures.

Overall, both the institute has good faculties. However, when it comes to IIT BHU since it is an older institute, it has many well-experienced faculties. Moreover, IITs lead in the research facilities as well as in research work.

Both institutes provide good placement opportunities to their students. According to 2019 placement statistics, a total of 88 students got placed from Electrical in IIT BHU. The average CTC ranged between 10 LPA to 58.21 LPA. While in BITS Pilani the placement percentage of EEE was around 59.3% with an average CTC of 14.86 LPA. If you are interested in MS after B.Tech, then BITS-Pilani would be better. Though IITs are popular worldwide, it is better to have the BITS tag for doing MS. If you are planning for an M.Tech or research-oriented career in India, IIT BHU is better.

Both institutes offer a huge alumni network. BITS has many alumni working in foreign, international brands. However, the alumni network of IIT BHU is a little larger since it is older and its alumni are present in every possible career paths.

How do I prepare for the IIT Bhubaneswar written test and interview of power electronics and drives?

A
Admin Posted On : July 2nd, 2024

I am a student at IIT Bhubaneswar and I can share a few insights that will help guide you to prepare for the IIT Bhubaneswar written text and interview. You must prepare well for the written test as too many basic and technical questions are being asked. I will share the question pattern for the written test below:

  • 35 questions (90 minutes)
  • 1-20 (1 mark questions)
  • 21-35 (2 mark questions)
  • No Negative Marking

My interview experience was good. The interview lasted for 5-6 mins. There were only 5 panel members which is the usual number of members in the panel. For the interview be confident and answer the questions asked in detail. You must prepare properly for your specialization.

LPU’s Electronics and Electrical Engineering department is one of the popular departments of LPU. Smart Sensors and Systems, Biomedical Signal Processing, Intelligent Robotics, 4G/5G Technologies, IoT/Embedded Systems, VLSI/Chip Design, Hybrid Electric Vehicle Design, and Industry 4.0 are the expertise of this BTech EEE department, with the help of highly experienced faculty.

If I talk in terms of fees, the total fee is INR 11,20,000. There are various scholarship opportunities for LPU BTech EEE students. Scholarships are based on percentage in the qualifying exam, LPUNEST, CUET, and JEE Main.

So, from my point of view, LPU is a good choice for a BTech EEE course.
