I am too confused between CSE at DTU/NSIT and IIT Jodhpur. What should I do?

TA

I can never stop emphasizing this, no matter how many options you have always go for the one that gives you the IIT tag.

I am not saying Engineering colleges like NSIT and DTU aren’t good but they are in the developing phase while IIT Jodhpur is in its developing phase. This means it will only get better. Despite being a new IIT, its average package this year was recorded at INR 21.30 LPA, which is a great feat for a new college.

Additionally, IITs receive more funding from the government to provide better research and project opportunities. Specifically speaking about CSE, this year the highest INR 56 LPA was bagged by BTech CSE. The placement percentage stood at 97% while the average package for CSE was recorded at INR 23 LPA.

DTU and NSIT may have higher placement statistics but they lack what IIT Jodhpur offers, the most coveted IIT tag! So choose wisely.

Which is best in a distance MBA, Amity University or Symbiosis?

AS
Abhinav Sharma Posted On : May 5th, 2021
Studied at Amity University

Both, Amity University Online (DDE) and Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning (SCDL) are very good institutes for doing distance MBA and you cannot go wrong with either of them. You should keep in mind that SCDL has AICTE approval and not UGC approval while Amity University Online is UGC approved and accredited by NAAC.

I have a few friends at Amity University, so I can give you a brief insight into the MBA program offered by the institute.

Recognition-

  • It is the only university in India to be awarded the highest quality standard 9001:14001 by the American Quality Standards Registrars (AQSR) of the USA.
  • It is accredited with a grade “A” by National Assessments and Accreditations Council (NAAC).
  • All its courses are approved by the Distance Education Council (DEC).
  • It is also the only university in the country to be accredited by WASQ of the USA.

Rankings-

  • It is ranked 33 by QS online MBA ranking for the year 2020.
  • Amity University has been ranked 37 by NIRF in the University category and 41 in the management category for the year 2020.

Specialization-

The university aims to impart knowledge and skills required by students to compete in the corporate world through a rigorous 2-year program. It has 14 different specializations to choose from. These are listed below –

  • Digital Marketing
  • Marketing and Sales Management
  • Finance and Accounting
  • Human Resource Management
  • Logistics and Supply Chain Management
  • NGO Management
  • Retail Management
  • International Business
  • Advertising and Brand Management
  • Public Accounting
  • Travel and Tourism Management
  • Business Management

It is tough to answer which is best as in an online and distant MBA course, the course pedagogy and specialization is more important than other factors such as campus amenities, facilities, placements, etc. As for the universities, you can choose either of them.

You should consider NDIM in New Delhi as the best option among the four colleges: Asia Pacific in New Delhi, IMS in Ghaziabad, and IBS in Gurgaon. Although all of these colleges offer similar academic programs and job placements, NDIM is known to be more cost-effective and highly sought after by organizations. The fee for the PGDM program at Asia Pacific is approximately 10.2 lakhs, whereas the fee for IMS is 10.3 lakhs, and for IBS Gurgaon is 11 Lakhs.

On the other hand, NDIM's program fee is only 9.3 lakhs. Additionally, the industrial environment in New Delhi will provide you with numerous job opportunities and projects.

Which college has better placements-NMIMS-MPSTME or RGIT?

DR
Diya Roy Posted On : July 9th, 2021
Studies at NMIMS (2019)

Comparing the fundamentals, you should go for NMIMS. Firstly because RGIT is recognized under the University of Mumbai and there are several institutes under the same university that follow the same curriculum. It impacts the recruiting process.

On the other hand, NMIMS is deemed to be a university and is established under the act of UGC, helping it make the rules and regulations quite a lot flexible to any upcoming changes in accordance with the industrial standpoint.

It technically means that they are exposed to variation in course patterns as per the industrial standards. The stats of both institutes are as mentioned below,

Institutes

NMIMS, MPSTME

RGIT, Mumbai

Highest Salary Package

INR 27.07 LPA

8.4 LPA

Average Salary Package

INR 6.65 LPA

5 LPA

Which is better, IMI Bhubaneswar or FMS, BHU?

JK
Janki Kapur Posted On : July 6th, 2021
MBA from Great Lakes Institute of Management (2018)

My brother has studied at IMI Bhubaneswar and it's the best because of its brand value. It is a new and upcoming institute with IMI Delhi’s reputation and brand value.

The following points explain a brief overview of the institutes:

  • If you compare the fees, FMS BHU will be the winner by a good margin.
  • When it comes to the average placement data, you'll find that it is the same as that of CAT cutoffs.
  • The class profile will be as good due to rigorous entrance processes and scores. You can find a better crowd at IMI because it might have more polished candidates.

Now, the difference to be highlighted in the degree is that FMS BHU will give you an MBA degree whereas, IMI will give you a PGDM degree; although this is not a huge difference you might choose an MBA over a PGDM program.

So, finally, the choice lies with you because both institutes are quite similar in academics, facilities, and opportunities. It will definitely not create a huge impact if you choose one over the other.

Which should I choose? IIEST or NIT Sikkim?

DR
Debadrita Roy Posted On : July 9th, 2021
B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering, National Institute of Technology Sikkim (2018)

Both IIEST and NIT Sikkim are excellent institutes for engineering in India. There are several aspects in which one of the two institutes is ahead of the other. The points below elaborate on those factors for both the institutes to give a brief overview of both the campuses.

  • IIEST has a much better infrastructure than NIT Sikkim, being a much older and established institute. IIEST is the second oldest college in India. The buildings of IIEST are quite old. But, the overall campus is huge, consisting of all kinds of required facilities.
  • NIT Sikkim is one of the new NITs, and so does not have a permanent campus. But, the temporary campus is worth living on. It has a view of mountains all around and is situated at a hill station. Even being a small campus, it is filled with required amenities.
  • The hostels of NIT Sikkim have some problems due to their recent establishment. But, they are good overall, having spacious rooms and corridors.
  • IIEST hostels are good too but are very old. They are not that well-maintained. But, you will get used to it eventually.
  • Although NIT Sikkim is a new NIT, it has been showing good placement statistics in recent years. There are companies like the power grid, Intel, etc, that visit the campus for placement. According to the placement highlights of 2020, the average and highest CTC offered at the institute are 8 LPA and 18 LPA.
  • The placement of IIEST is definitely very good with great packages for CSE, IT, and ECE branches. In 2020 the highest CTC offered by the institute was 39 LPA.

Overall, both the colleges are decent in their own aspects, providing several opportunities to students in fields of placement and research. It is on you to do good research about both, observe the key highlights, and then make a decision.

Which one should I choose between IIIT Allahabad IT and Jadavpur University CSE if I am interested in coding and research in computer science?

AR
Aditi Roy Posted On : June 7th, 2023
lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India

Both JU and IIIT-A have their own set of strengths and weaknesses. Here are a few strengths of each to help you determine which institution to finally opt for

  1. IIIT-A:
    • IIIT-A is better than JU when it comes to coding. The students at IIIT-A are into coding all year round. Labs are open 24*7 and students are allocated a personal desktop with internet facilities for 4 years, 24*7 basis
    • Core courses are introduced at IIIT-A in the first sem. This gives students extra time to prepare for GATE and placements
    • Research facility at IIIT A is good enough. The professors are helpful and supportive towards the students who wish to engage in research work
    • IIIT-A has a much better infrastructure than JU. It has world-class labs and all the facilities are top-notch
    • The faculty at IIIT-A is very helpful and supportive
    • In terms of placements, IIIT-A is the winner, with placements increasing exponentially each year
    • Hostel facilities are excellent. It has a strong alumni base
  2. JU:
    • JU provides the students with the freedom and the right mix of interdisciplinary research opportunities
    • The faculty at JU is also very cooperative and supportive. The Research students are supported in every possible manner
    • JU ranks at the 11th position in the NIRF India Rankings 2022: Engineering
    • Being a public state university, the course fee at JU for a four-year B.E. CSE program is only 10,000 INR/year

Thus, both JU and IIIT-A are good options for you to consider.

B.E. CSE program at JU can be compared with B.Tech IT program at IIIT-A to reach the conclusion.

How is NIT Delhi? Is it better than NIT Jamshedpur and Kurukshetra?

AD
Arijit Das Posted On : April 29th, 2021
Studied B.Tech. Information Technology, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra (2021)

One of my friends is presently studying at NIT Kurukshetra, and he has a good idea about NIT Delhi. But he does not tell me more about NIT Jamshedpur, as he has limited knowledge about this institute.

The following table shows a brief overview of these three institutes:

Criteria

NIT Kurukshetra

NIT Jamshedpur

NIT Delhi

NIRF Ranking

6th

79th

92nd

Highest Package

43.31 LPA

30 LPA

39 LPA

Average Package

10.91 LPA

12 LPA

9.8 LPA

Students Placed

538

400

150

The above table shows that NIT Kurukshetra(KKR) > NIT Jamshedpur> NIT Delhi.

  • Presently, the college administration of NIT KKR has updated their curriculum, in which you have to read 6 core subjects in your first-year study. However, it will help you to get closer to your respective branch.
  • Recently, the director of this institute, namely Dr. Satish Kumar. Since his appointment, this institute is progressing continuously. My friend told me that within 6months, he opened a swimming pool, which is Olympic Standards.
  • The classes are completely air-conditioned, with an installation of a new supercomputer. Indeed, NIT KKR was not considered a good college a few years back, but these days it is not at all behind the other top institutes as it is developing gradually.

Besides, NIT Delhi is a newly opened institute with a temporary college campus. Someone mentioned that the students have to travel approximately 2 hours from their hostel room to the college rooms in NIT Delhi, which is quite tiresome. The Alumni Network is completely lagging as it is a new institute.

Additionally, NIT Jamshedpur provides good placement in comparison to NIT Kurukshetra. It is the only thing that supports the rankings of an institute, respecting other colleges. Another important thing is that if you are from Eastern Part, then opt for NIT Jamshedpur.
