Should an iM.Tech in IIIT Banglore be preferred over a B.Tech in IT in IIIT Allahabad?
iMTech is an integrated course offered at IIIT Bangalore which includes a 5-year BTech+ MTech program. It is not possible to compare a 4-year BTech course with a 5-year Integrated MTech course.

- If you want to pursue MTech after BTech, iMTech at IIIT Bangalore is a great option as you will save a whole year. However, if you don’t want to pursue BTech, you should opt for IIIT Allahabad.
- The course curriculum and faculty at IIIT B are excellent. On the other hand, at IIITA students are quite frustrated with their faculty.
Based on the above facts and the conversation I had with some of my friends and colleagues who are pass outs from IIITB and IIITA, I would advise you to choose IIIT Bangalore with closed eyes.
Is a dual degree (specialization software) from IIIT Allahabad better than a B.Tech in Computer science from VNIT Nagpur, SVNIT Surat, MANIT Bhopal, or NIT Kurukshetra?
It won’t be good to compare the Dual Degree of one place to B. Tech of another. However, B. Tech (IT) from IIIT Allahabad is definitely better than B. Tech (CS) of all the NITs that have been mentioned.
Keep in mind that IIITs, NITs are next to IITs in terms of excellence in the Indian Scenario. But it doesn’t mean that NITs are ranked right next to IITs as the second ones. If you want a corporate job, you need to ruin a precious one year of your life for the dual degree.

A dual degree implies that you have made more effort than the normal degree students. You have gathered knowledge in additional subjects, which is better. This also means that your time has always been shared between projects. But companies tend to lean towards the ones who have done their degrees separately.
If you are willing to put in an effort, you should definitely go for dual degree courses with a strong commitment and determination. Towards the end, all that matters is, how much skill you have gained and how you put into use for the effective problem-solving at work that you are doing.
Which is better: IT at IIIT Allahabad or CSE at BIT Mesra?
One of my friends chose CSE at BIT Mesra over IT at IIIT Allahabad. However, he regretted his decision and after a month, got admission into IIIT Allahabad IT through the CSAB spot round.
BIT Mesra has a huge campus, however, its student intake is much higher as compared to IIIT Allahabad. Even in terms of location, Allahabad is a better choice than Mesra.
In terms of placements, the average package for BIT CSE stood at INR 19.27 LPA 2022. At IIIT Allahabad, the average package for B.Tech stood at INR 30.68 LPA during the same year.
The course fee is also much more affordable at IIIT Allahabad. The total course fee for B.Tech IT from IIIT Allahabad is INR 8,44,700, while at BIT, the B.Tech CSE course fee is INR 13,04,500 (does not include the hostel fees at both).
Thus, I would suggest you choose IT at IIIT Allahabad over CSE at BIT Mesra.
Is it worth leaving VIT IT for IIIT Guwahati ECE?
If you think that you can work under technical giants later in years of study, then you should go for VIT. However, if you want to pursue your field of interest, and choose a likewise job scenario, then undoubtedly, you should enroll in IIIT Guwahati.
There are various differences between both the institutes for B.Tech ECE. Let’s walk through most of them:
Approaches of VIT:
- VIT has a gigantic campus and is considered top-notch by students. You will most definitely enjoy your four years course period in VIT.
- VIT, other than that, has balanced boys: girls ratio.
- VIT is known to secure you a corporate job sooner than IIITG. This is seen at least in the current scheme.

Approaches of IIITG:
- IIIT Guwahati is comparatively a very new college.
- The placement record is not 100%. If you however have the necessary abilities, it is only then that you will get placed. There are unfortunately no mass recruiters here, unlike VIT.
- IIITG is renowned to motivate you to think and implement your theories in places not most people have thought of before. VIT clearly missed out on it.
- You will find that the questions are seldom asked in IIITG examinations. In a nutshell, you are likely to find not any repeated questions in any course throughout the B.Tech course, unlike of course VIT.
- IIITG tremendously focuses on the research sectors.
VIT is a reputed institute that is known to get you a job in the placement. If you’re willing to enter the job sector soon, join VIT.
How is IT at NIT Jalandhar, placement-wise and academically?
NIT Jalandhar's IT department is thriving. Students have access to the best teachers and air-conditioned classrooms. All of the teachers are highly qualified, with the majority holding doctorates in their respective fields. There is no reason to doubt their intelligence because the majority of these teachers are graduates of prestigious colleges such as IITs and NITs.
For the past 2-3 years, CSE placements have been the best in the region; you can expect the same from IT, as 50% of companies coming for CSE deal with this field.
After their second year, Microsoft comes to campus to recruit students for internships. Microsoft offers a package worth around 40 lacs per year, which is comparable to Amazon's package. Overall, the placement is excellent. Many reputable IT companies visit NIT Jalandhar and offer attractive packages to students. Companies such as Amazon, JPMC, Oracle, Samsung, Adobe, Ion Trading, Oyo Rooms, Mu Sigma, and many others come to recruit students at the college. Other branches can also benefit from the placement. 100% of CSE, IT, and ECE students are placed.
Is the I.T. course in IIIT Allahabad different from the CSE course taught in other similar colleges?
When considering the differences between the I.T. course in IIIT Allahabad and the CSE course taught in other similar colleges, there are a few factors to keep in mind.
Placement Opportunities:
- If you are considering the two courses in terms of placement opportunities, then the answer is "YES", as the I.T. course in IIIT Allahabad is known to offer better placement opportunities compared to other similar colleges.
- The institute has a good reputation and is considered one of the premier engineering colleges in the country, which is reflected in the quality of companies that visit the campus for recruitment.
- Additionally, IIIT Allahabad has a strong alumni network, which can also be helpful in securing job opportunities.
Course Structure:
- If you are considering the two courses in terms of course structure, the answer is "NO", as the core curriculum for I.T. in IIIT Allahabad and CSE in other colleges is similar.
- However, more than 80% of the course content is similar between the two courses, so one can consider the courses to be approximately the same.
- The course content is designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge required to succeed in the field of computer science and engineering.
Other factors to consider:

Ultimately, the choice between the two courses will depend on your personal goals and preferences.
Should I pursue IT in NIT Surathkal or CSE in SVNIT Surat?
Both NITK and SVNIT are tier-1 NITs and are excellent choices for engineering. Moreover both the branches are one of the most coveted branches so the choice of colleges is rather difficult here.
Go for CSE at SVNIT, if you are interested in CSE only. Usually CSE faculty is better than IT faculty. But if the tag of the college matters more then go for IT at NIT Surathkal as it has a better reputation than SVNIT in terms of job placement, alumni network, infrastructure, academics, start-up culture, etc. Here are a few additional reasons why you should choose NIT Surathkal
- The IT curriculum in NIT Surathkal is better than that of CSE in SVNIT on all parameters.
- The lab infrastructure and facilities are much better in NIT Surathkal. The curriculum is up to date.
- NIT Surathkal focuses on project-based learning. Every course has a practical aspect.
- Placement statistics of the IT dept in NIT Surathkal are also way better.
Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on your own preferences. However, I can say with certainty that choosing either colleges and branches will give you amazing results choices because CSE & IT are the most in-demand branches, combined with the tier-1 college tag.
Should I study ECE at IIIT, Allahabad or IT at BIT, Mesra?
An ECE at IIIT, Allahabad is preferable to an IT at BIT, Mesra. Of course, the choice of the branch is subjective and should be chosen based on our own interests and preferences. But still, a degree at IIIT Allahabad is much more valuable than that of BIT Mesra.
The best thing about IIIT, Allahabad is its focus on research and thus will provide you the extra edge over other similar level candidates. The course structure is very focused and you will get subjects such as integrated robotics and many others. IIIT, Allahabad also offers the best facilities to hone your programming skills.

And then the fee structure of IIIT Allahabad is also much more affordable, 1.65 lakhs first-year fee to BIT Mesra’s 2.85 lakhs first-year fee, compared to BIT Mesra which gives the degree much more value with all the facilities, research opportunities, and placements it has to offer. Thus IIIT Allahabad is favored.
How is CUSAT IT branch for placement?
CUSAT placement is good for the IT branch. Most of the recruiting companies perticiating in the placement drive are from IT sector. As a student of the IT branch, you will be eligible to sit for almost all the visiting IT companies provided you have the required CGPA. According to the recent placement highlights, the average CTC received by the students of IT branch is around INR 4.7 LPA.
Is KJ Somaiya Vidyavihar a good college for IT?
Yes, KJSCE is a good college for IT. You can also consider taking CSE here. Since the syllabus for these two branches differs by a few subjects.
- KJ Somiya is an autonomous institute, so it has a good curriculum. You will have the option to choose from a number of interdisciplinary as well as audit courses.
- The placement of IT and CSE branches are quite good.
- From my experience, the faculty is also quite well versed, cooperative and good.
- If you are concerned about labs, they are very well equipped with good computers. One of them even has an iMac.
- Additionally, if you are interested in workshops, councils like CSI and CodeChef conduct them on various technologies and coding which you will find very helpful.
- If you get along with the faculty, you will also have a number of projects that you could work on.
Overall, KJSCE for IT is a good option. You will have a number of opportunities open for you to develop your career here.
