How do I prepare for the Symbiosis MBA entrance test, if I intend to get admission in SIBM or SCMHRD?

SP
Sushil Panda Posted On : June 4th, 2023

Structured and disciplined study is best for SNAP 2024. Preparation tips:

  • Exam structure: General English, Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency, Analytical & Logical Reasoning, and Current Affairs comprise the SNAP exam. Learn the exam format and syllabus to prepare.
  • Practise prior year papers to understand the sort of questions, difficulty level, and time management needed to pass the test. This will reveal your strengths and weaknesses.
  • Improve fundamentals: Improve accuracy and speed by reviewing each section's basics. Practise fundamental math, reasoning, reading comprehension, etc.
  • Mock exams: Take mock tests to simulate the exam and enhance your speed and accuracy. After each test, assess your weaknesses and improve.
  • Current events: The Current Affairs section demands current events knowledge. To stay current, read newspapers, magazines, and web portals.
  • Join an MBA entrance test coaching institute if you can't prepare on your own. To prepare for the exam, they offer structured assistance, study material, and practise examinations.
  • Language skills are needed for General English. Reading books, newspapers, and magazines, practising grammar, and watching English films and TV can improve your language skills.

Which is best for MBA HR: SIBM Pune or NMIMS Mumbai or SCMHRD?

SG
Sujoy Ghosh Posted On : July 16th, 2021
Studied at University of Mumbai (2019)

The colleges that you have mentioned are quite old and reputed, leaving behind a history of a great placement record and a bright future.

Human Resources has become a promising field in today’s time. A good HR assures that the aspects of the business they work for proves to be fulfilled along with allowing the employees their own space wherein they give importance to the clients.

Based on certain parameters, allow me to compare all the three institutes so that it gets convenient to choose the B-School of your choice.

Categories SIBM Pune NMIMS Mumbai SCMHRD
Course Fee 17.26 lakh 6.04 lakh 11.94 lakh
Highest CTC 35 LPA 16 LPA 18-21 LPA
Average CTC 18 LPA 8 LPA 10 LPA
Recruiting Companies Crisil, HSBC, etc. Berger, ITC, etc. Mindtree, ICICI Bank, etc.

My suggestion would be to consider NMAT and even SNAP so that you get a better view to choose from. Some promising prospects are indeed offered by NMIMS and SIBM-P, but I believe you should go for that particular institute which is reputed for its HR department.

AM
Ankit Malik Posted On : January 13th, 2023
studies at Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (2024)

The IIM Trichy HR program is a relatively new program that started in 2020. Owing to its lack of credibility not many go for this course.

The table below compares the Placement Statistics of the regular PGP and PGP-HR programs at IIM Trichy.

Particulars

PGPM - HR

PGPM

Highest CTC

INR 17.6 LPA

INR 34 LPA

Average CTC

INR 13.3 LPA

INR 17.01 LPA

Median CTC

INR 14 LPA

INR 16 LPA

Average CTC of Top 25% Students

INR 15.6 LPA

Average CTC of Top 25% Students

Top Recruiters

Ashok Leyland, Hyundai, Wipro

Amazon, Dell, Nomura

From the table we can infer that the highest CTC of the HR program is nearly half of that of the regular program. This clearly speaks about its placement opportunities. So I will suggest you go for HR only if you are really interested in it, else go for a regular PGPM.

Comparing the average CTC of IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad we get:

Should I join NMIMS Mumbai (MBA core) or wait for another year

VP
Varun Pandya Posted On : February 28th, 2023
MBA from SVKM's NMIMS (2015)

Waiting for another year and dropping NMIMS is only justifiable if you are certain to get into the top 5 like IIM ABC and FMS. Otherwise forgoing this opportunity might not be a wise decision mainly because

  • Your work experience of 22 months is the right time to do an MBA
  • CAT is extremely certain. You might have been able to make it into NMIMS, but there is no guarantee you will be able to clear CAT next year again
  • NMIMS has a 100% placement percentage so you will definitely end up with a good package
  • The brand name is more than enough to add to your CV

Moreover, if you are willing to enter the Marketing sector, it’s still not late as FMCG don’t prefer candidates with much work experience. But if you are interested in Strategic Management, you can wait for a year and target the top 5 B Schools.

So the end note is, forgo the offer if you are certain you can make it into the top 5 else grab this opportunity.

How good is PGDM- Full time at IMT Ghaziabad with almost 4 years work ex?

AS
Adi Shankara Posted On : January 27th, 2023
B.Tech in Bachelor of Technology in Electrical and Electronics Engineering

IMT Ghaziabad placement and admission process both lay great emphasis on Work Experience. So your work experience of 4 years will define work in your favor not only during the GE-PI rounds but during placements also.

One way to determine if your admission will be worth leaving your job is to calculate your ROI (Fees vs Avg CTC *2 with 2 yrs of loss in pay based on your existing CTC).

If you are confident enough you target other better B Schools also for wider prospects. You can check the career prospects of the field you have been working in and in case you are switching careers do the same for that field too. Check the best offers in that line and compare it with other B Schools. Such in-depth research will help you make a better decision that you won’t regret later.
