M.Tech from IIT Bhubaneswar makes sense only if you are willing to study more on research-based topics of the subject. It is best if one is looking for a career in Teaching, Researching, etc. to further gain knowledge about the subject and not work in MNCs.

IIT Hyderabad ranks 8th in the Engineering category by NIRF 2020. The number of students who got placed from the Chemical Engineering department in the 2019 placements was 26. The average salary package offered to students with Chemical Engineering is 15 lakhs per annum.

IIST is a space institute under the Department of Space. The students from IIST are recruited as scientists and engineers in the Department of Space facilities and Indian Space Research Organization centers all over India. They receive a starting salary of 10 lakhs per annum. Facilities like Infrastructure, Library, sports facilities, Computer labs, clinics, Data centers in IIST are much better and well equipped than the IITs.

Thus it is your choice to opt for what course you are interested in.

If the IIT tag is not considered, NIT Trichy’s Structural Engineering M.Tech course is better than IIT Bhubaneswar. But the hallmark of IIT does offer certain advantages.

NIT Trichy was established in 1964 while IIT Bhubaneswar was established in 2008. So, it is the older institution with a strong alumni base. NIRF in 2019 ranked NIT Trichy 10 in India while IIT Bhubaneswar was ranked at 17.

NIT Trichy has a very good placement record over the years and it is pretty good for structural engineering specialization. Almost 80% of the M. Tech students are employed in reputed companies every year with an average salary package of 5 lakh per annum. Some of the companies in which the students get placed are L&T Construction, L&T Hydrocarbon, TCE, L&W Construction, Atkins, Dow Chemicals, Technip, etc.

Compared to NIT Trichy, IIT Bhubhaneshwar does not have an impressive M. Tech placement record. The institute has witnessed around 68% of placement. But in the year 2018, there was an increase in the number of jobs offered from core industries. The average salary package was 11.15 package per annum. Top MNC recruiters were Goldman Sachs, Renault, Nissan, Samsung, Oracle, Infosys, Adobe, etc. The public sector undertakings in India such as ISRO, IOCL, HPCL, NCCBM also participated in placement.

The total fee structure of IIT Bhubaneswar for the M.Tech Structural Engineering program is Rs. 2.31 Lakhs/ Year. While the fee structure in NIT Trichy is only Rs. 96,625/ Year. NIT Trichy has highly qualified and experienced faculty. Most of them hold Ph. D and some of them have completed PostDoc. The institute makes use of the e-learning platform to teach the students. IIT Bhubaneswar is also rich with experienced faculties.

The placement for MSc.-PhD in Atmosphere and Sciences at IIT Bhubaneswar is not that impressive. Although the overall placement at this IIT is quite decent and the placement rate is around 90% with an average CTC of 11.4 LPA. But the placement statistics for the M.Sc courses are not good. Only a few teaching institutes visit the campus during the placement drive recruiting students mainly from courses like Mathematics and Physics, etc.

The department of Atmosphere and Sciences at IIT Bhubaneswar is still developing and there is a shortage of faculty members in this department but there are visiting faculties from the different institutes.

UIET Chandigarh has been ranked 54th among the private engineering colleges by NIRF ranking. The institute is best for CSE/IT as it maintains a placement record of 80% every year. The institute is one of the top 30 finest engineering institutes of the country.

IIIT Bhubaneswar ranks 201 among the IIITs in India as per NIRF ranking 2020. The institute promises to create technology leaders tomorrow by assuring them with 100% placement records every year.

UIET Chandigarh:-

• The admission is based on the valid score of 75% marks in 10+2 with physics, chemistry, and mathematics.
• The candidates must have a valid score in JEE Main. 

IIIT Bhubaneswar:-

• The minimum marks required is 60% marks in 10+2. 
• The candidate must have a valid JEE Main score.

Placements:-

Many companies visit both these colleges and offer dream jobs to the students. The placement department of both the colleges work rigorously to get as many companies as possible. IIIT Bhubaneswar offered 95% placement in the engineering department. Amazon offered the highest package of INR 31 LPA to two of the students of UIET Chandigarh.

The top recruiters are Amazon, Cognizant, Accenture, IBM, Samsung, L&T Infotech, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, Paytm, Mindtree, Dell, TCS, etc.

Both these colleges provide a better scope with good placements. It is upon the students which college they would like to opt among these two. However, IT from IIIT Bhubaneswar is preferred than CSE/IT from UIET Chandigarh.

The average cutoff required to get admitted for IIT Bhubaneswar for electronics in the JEE advanced was 1991-5690 for the academic year of 2019. However, the minimum marks required for getting into IIT Bhubaneswar for Electronics can’t be determined, as the cutoff ranks vary every year depending on the difficulty level of the paper, different caste, and gender. The papers for JEE advanced in 2016 were tough as compared to that of 2017. As a result, in 2016 the cutoff was lower than what it was in 2017. In 2017, since the paper was easy hence the candidates needed higher marks to achieve the cutoff.

With the level of difficulty of the exam, the cutoff marks for JEE advanced will be changing for the respective years but mostly it stays closer to the previous year’s cutoff. So the previous year’s cutoff rank is the best parameter to calculate your chances for admission.

IIT Bhubaneswar offers internships to the students which last from May to July every year. In 2019, the 3rd year students of IIT Bhubaneswar received various internship offers from many reputed organizations. A few of them are involved in internships in research and development organizations and in many foreign universities. For the summer internship program, the students of IIT Bhubaneswar visited companies such as BSNL, Wipro, PNB, Metlife, BSNL, etc. Students also get internships offers from organizations like ONGC, CIL, and industries like PRL, WIHG.

The undergraduate students apply for an internship program after 2nd year at IIT Kanpur to gain more knowledge apart from the undergraduate program. Under the SURGE (Students Undergraduate Research Graduate Excellence) program, the students at IIT Kanpur receive stipends of 12500 for 8 weeks duration. Also, an award and certificate are given to those SURGE students who produce exceptional quality research during the period.
 

IIIT Hyderabad and IIT Bhubaneswar are ranked 43 and 22 in the engineering category by NIRF.

IIT Bhubaneswar:

Admission- The admission process is based on the JEE Advanced rankings. Usually, the cut-off of this program is 2088-4509. The total number of seats in CSE is 40. The total course fee is 7.91 lakhs.

Faculty- The CSE faculty at the IIT Hyderabad possess the highest degrees in their respective subjects. Almost all the faculty members have completed their PhDs from prestigious universities and institutions.

Placements: CSE is among the branches with the highest placement rate. The placement average for CSE in 2020 was 97%.

• The highest package received by the students is 43 LPA and the average package is 15.80 LPA.
• Companies visiting this institution for CSE students are Microsoft, Samsung, IBM, Adobe, Oracle, MathWorks, HCL, Grofers, Amazon, Flipkart, Nykaa, Oyo, and many more.

IIIT Hyderabad:

Admission- The admission process is based on the JEE Mains rankings. The cut-off for CSE at the institution lies in between 0-1187. The student intake for CSE is 75 and the total course fee is 11.2 lakhs.

Faculty- All the faculty members of CSE are well-qualified and have years of experience.

Placements:

• IIIT H has a 100% placement rate.
• The highest package was 46 LPA. Whereas, the average package is 21 LPA.
• Top companies visiting the IIIT Hyderabad are Dell, Google, Accenture, Samsung, MathWorks, Facebook, Amazon, Jio, Uber, and many more.
• CSE students get more offers than any other program.

This is about the CSE program of both institutions. It is difficult to say which is a better institution for CSE. Because it all depends on individual choices based on the various aspects.

Both institutions provide good opportunities to explore one’s interests and excel in it. IIT Bhubaneswar And IIT Jodhpur, both have a newly built campus. The Bhubaneswar campus is situated at the foothills of Barunei hills, outside the city of Bhubaneswar. The Jodhpur campus is situated nearly 24 Km away from the center of Jodhpur city on national highway 65. But both the campus provides a decent environment for studies away from the city’s restless life.

IIT BBS has some good tech societies for CS/IT students to enhance and develop good coding and technical skills, comparing the tech and coding environment of both, IIT Bhubaneswar gets an edge over IIT Jodhpur. Both the IITs have good placement statistics and many big known companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, etc. visit every year for placements. In the year 2019-2020, both IITs had 100% placement for Computer Science students. The two IITs have nearly the same placement package for CSE students.

Talking about the hostel facilities, both the IITs has newly built hostels. LAN-Wifi facility is available in hostels as well as in academic sections. The tuition fee for IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT Jodhpur is respectively 1.98 lakhs/year and 1.41 lakhs/year.

As both the institutes are new IITs and growing, one will get to explore new things and will get good exposure and opportunities.
 

No, NIRF ranking issued by MHRD is not always reliable. It measures various parameters like student-teacher ratio, infrastructure, perception, etc. However, it is impossible to congregate the parameters into one single rank. Although the ranking is reliable, there may be cases where it’s not right.

Now for the second question, IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT Gandhinagar both are new IITs and were established in 2008. Both these IITs are in the developing phase, however, according to some statistics, IIT Bhubaneswar maybe a little ahead of IIT Gandhinagar. The former has made remarkable strides since its shifting to the new campus. The faculty at IIT Bhubaneswar is also more experienced. The college organizes a vast number of cultural and technical fests as compared to IIT Gandhinagar. The placement scenario at IIT Bhubaneswar is also better as compared to IIT Gandhinagar. The highest placement package at IIT Bhubaneswar by Microsoft touched a whopping 42 LPA. The average placement package offered to students at IT Bhubaneswar is also far more as compared to IIT Gandhinagar.
