As per the 2022 placement statistics of SVNIT, out of 88 registered B.Tech Electrical students, 72 were successfully placed. Thus, approximately 82% B.Tech students from Electrical branch were successfully placed in 2022. The highest package was 25.56 LPA, and the average package was 8.83 LPA.
From these figures one can see that the placements for B.Tech Electrical are quite decent at SVNIT. The data for 2023 B.Tech Electrical placements is not available as of now.
One of my friends secured an AIR (All India Rank) of 7,000 in JEE Main 2017 and obtained a seat in NIT Surat in CSE. It is a good option since the institute is well renowned. More than that, he also decided to visit DA-IICT, Gandhinagar.
Here is his experience of DA-IICT, Gandhinagar with better references -

Although, you should choose according to your subject preference.
For ECE, IIIT Allahabad is definitely the better alternative. The list beneath elaborates on why you should opt for IIIT, Allahabad.
Course Structure: During your 4 years of constant time at IIIT Allahabad, it will entirely be devoted to coding sessions, while at NIT, the professors are seen to teach subjects like chemistry, mechanics, engineering drawing, and several others mostly in the first year.
Coding culture: The coding culture of IIIT is famously known to be very ingenious and accomplished. Especially, the IT department can certainly be held in comparison to CSE of IITs. It has clearly been possible because of ardent students and few active professors in the stream of robotics, programming, and more.
Infrastructure: Since IIIT Allahabad is recently built, it has well-equipped labs as well as furnished hostels. There also are buildings such as the auditorium which definitely is worth seeing. Alongside technical, the social fest is additionally excellent on the campus. You will learn just as you take part.
Placement: The average package of IIIT, Allahabad is better than several other NITs. The average package is seen to range anything between 16 - 17 lakhs.
Furthermore, there is no additional factor concerning quota here. Thus, you are expected to find students from all over India and various inventive talents. However, the decision of opting is yet up to you.
Here is some information on the civil engineering placements at SVNIT-
As per the 2022 stats, 43 out of 82 registered B.Tech Civil students were successfully placed from the SVNIT campus. The highest package offered was 12.84 LPA, the average package was 6.32 LPA, and the lowest package was 3.61 LPA. The top recruiting core companies for the Civil department are- L&T, Hindustan Construction Company, Tata Projects, etc. L&T and ECC offer internships to a large chunk of the students.
From these stats, one can conclude that the placements are very average for B.Tech Civil at SVNIT.
It may sound a bit philosophical, but it is the truth. A department is never the worst or best, it is the student who can be termed as such.
These departments can not compete against each other because only when each one of them works as a team, an invention is born. When five fingers of your hand work together, only then can you achieve something. Even in terms of monetary funding, one can not assess a department. If one’s project is worthy of recognition and funding, one will get it. For this, the department can not be held responsible.
Each department of SVNIT will provide you with a wonderful platform, but the results will have to come from your side.
Both NITK and SVNIT are tier-1 NITs and are excellent choices for engineering. Moreover both the branches are one of the most coveted branches so the choice of colleges is rather difficult here.
Go for CSE at SVNIT, if you are interested in CSE only. Usually CSE faculty is better than IT faculty. But if the tag of the college matters more then go for IT at NIT Surathkal as it has a better reputation than SVNIT in terms of job placement, alumni network, infrastructure, academics, start-up culture, etc. Here are a few additional reasons why you should choose NIT Surathkal
Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on your own preferences. However, I can say with certainty that choosing either colleges and branches will give you amazing results choices because CSE & IT are the most in-demand branches, combined with the tier-1 college tag.
As per the 2022 statistics, out of 219 registered B.Tech Mechanical students, 174 were successfully placed. The highest package offered was 18.45 LPA, and the average package stood at 8.81 LPA. 3.60 LPA was the lowest package offered during that year.
Now, as a former student of the department, I would advise you to secure at least 6.5 CGPA by the end of your degree. To be safe, try for 7 CGPA and above. Try to get 8 and above in your first year, and maintain 6.5 and above in the remaining years. Scoring is comparatively easier in the first year.
To ace your technical interview round, have basic knowledge of all your Mechanical subjects. The companies might be open to 60% scorers, but the final shortlist will only contain the names of those who would’ve scored at least 65%-70% (depending on the number of applicants).
The reputable and high paying companies will have higher competition, and consequently, higher cutoffs. Have a good grasp over the core concepts of your interest, and try to participate in extracurricular activities. Keep up with the current affairs. Study with utmost dedication and sincerity.
The placements for Mechanical are top notch at SVNIT, afterall it is an NIT. But it is you who needs to be up to the mark to qualify for decent paying companies.
Here is some advice based on my personal experience-
These are just some of my insights as a former student of SVNIT. Work hard and enjoy to the fullest.
I graduated from SVNIT some years back. During my time, the faculty and teaching methods for Math were not up to the mark.
I personally love Mathematics, which is why I opted for CSE. The time spent in studying Math at SVNIT made me realize that the teaching methodology was not good at all. During this time, I failed to learn any good Mathematical principles and applications.
The lecturers provided very few examples and cookie cutter solutions instead of explaining why an idea works and where it can be applied. The teachers expect students to mug-up theorems. Fourier Analysis is not given ample time, even though it is the crux of all modern technology and data analysis techniques.
The exams can be easily cleared by learning all the solutions from certain books, instead of using one’s conceptual knowledge and math skills. I would recommend you go through B. S. Grewal. It helped me understand important concepts like ODEs and the Taylor Expansion. Math-III is totally focused on three theorems, and learning the derivations of each one of them.
I do not know the current state of the Mathematics department at SVNIT, but back in my days, the faculty did not try at all to improve the students’ concept building. Thus, if you are really passionate about Math, the department might disappoint you.
Mathematics at SVNIT is not great. According to my sister studying there, the teaching way is not good.
The Mathematics Department is very disappointing. The lecturers do not teach well and they barely understand the material themselves. They are also quite lazy about their responsibilities towards their students.
