I think the above info is more than enough to make an informed decision.
Both the colleges are moderate and have no feature that makes them stand out from the other. IFIM Bangalore is a bit overestimated but has been able to make a mark in the Finance sector.
IBS Hyderabad on the other hand is a brand name and has been there for decades. It attracts over 1000 students every year making it one of the most coveted B Schools of the country.
The best way to find out which is a better choice is through comparing the high fees with the average package and concluding the estimated ROI.
Fees
IFIM Bangalore - ?4.65 Lakhs (1st Year Fees)
IBS Hyderabad-INR 16.02 MBA Program
Average Salary
IFIM Bangalore - INR 7.5 LPA
IBS Hyderabad - INR 11.70 LP
Other top tier colleges include
ASB is a rather good choice in terms of ROI.
BIMTECH gr noida is a good institute that provides its students with a good academic environment with some best professors who have rich knowledge and experience is better than IBS Hyderabad. BIMTECH's placements and CAT percentile to get in are better than IBS Hyderabad. The CAT percentile required to get into IBS Hyderabad is 60-65 percentile while placements at BIMTECH (BIMTECH average package 2023 is INR 11.25 LPA) are better. Thus, you should consider what you think is most convenient and is more promising to you.
MDI Murshidabad, established in 2014, recorded an average CTC of INR 11.32 LPA during the MBA class of 2022 placement drive. The highest CTC was INR 22 LPA. A total of 50 recruiters participated in the drive, with 34 of them being first-time recruiters, and 127 job offers were made.
IBS Hyderabad, on the other hand, is a well-established institution with the facilities necessary for the development of an individual. An MBA program encompasses not only classroom sessions but also co-curricular activities like team management, team participation, event management, and networking. IBS Hyderabad provides a suitable environment for developing these skills.
When it comes to being hired, the first criterion is academic results, but they are mostly used as a cut-off criterion. To stand out among other candidates, an individual must have impressive extracurricular achievements and experience in managing small teams, which is essential for personal growth. Based on these factors, it is recommended to choose IBS Hyderabad.
I personally will recommend you join NMIMS rather than IBS Hyderabad. Some major reasons that support my recommendation are
NMIMS has a decent placement scenario.NMIMS Hyderabad is known for achieving a 100% placement record. The institute successfully conducted its placement drive for the 2019-21 batch. 100% of the participating students got placed. The final placement report for the 2019-21 batch has been released. According to the report, the highest CTC rose up to INR 15 LPA. Students received an average CTC of INR 9.59 LPA.
SCIT has released the final placement statistics for MBA ITBM and MBA DSDA batch 2020-22. The highest package offered to MBA ITBM students was INR 32.29 LPA and for MBA DSDA it was INR 32.21 LPA. The placement rate recorded for both courses was 100%. Over 30 companies participated in MBA ITBM placements and more than 25 companies were part of the MBA DSDA placement drive in 2022.
Compare the ROI and check the field of specialization before making the final decision.
Among the campuses of IBS, Hyderabad is considered the best, followed by Mumbai and Pune. It is assumed that the syllabus and course content are similar across the three campuses. Hyderabad is considered to be the best in terms of facilities and resources, while Mumbai is also a strong option, with good professors, case studies, presentations, and a well-equipped campus.
While IBS Hyderabad has a strong placement record, most of the offered positions are in sales. There are also opportunities in advertising, retailing, and other fields, but they are less prevalent. The pay packages offered by the college are decent. After gaining some experience through campus placements, you can explore job opportunities outside the college.
It is important to note that none of the IBS campuses are AICTE approved, but they are affiliated with ICFAI University in Dehradun. As an alternative, you can opt for a distance MBA program by paying an additional fee.
First of all IBS Hyderabad is not a recognized college. Back in 2007-2009 students went against the college’s false promises and threw stones to protest. The college was in full bloom till 2006. But ever since then the quality of education and its brand value has been deteriorating. Some major reasons for its decline in value are
It’s because of such reasons that it has lost its original reputation and is famous for all the wrong reasons. So I don’t think it’s very wise to risk your career by making such a choice.
To make an informed decision, you need to analyze your future prospects. Consider where you see yourself two years from now, or, if money is a primary concern for you, estimate how much you will earn in two years.
The average package offered by IBS Hyderabad is 6 lakhs. However, if you have a couple of years of experience and are in the top 10th percentile of your batch, there is a good chance you could earn 7-8 lakhs. In this case, enrolling in IBS Hyderabad would be a viable option if you don't see yourself earning a similar salary within two years.
Furthermore, you should evaluate your ability to gain admission to a better business school such as an IIM. If you have the potential to do so, it would be a wise decision to invest your efforts into pursuing this opportunity. However, if you really believe that you are not in that league, enrolling in IBS Hyderabad would still be a viable option, as discussed in the second paragraph.
One of my friends had a great GD-PI experience at IBS Hyderabad. He recounted having 8-9 candidates in his GD session. Almost every individual was extraordinarily talented and spoke very boldly and did not shy away from sharing their views on the concerned topics.
After the GD round, the individuals were directed to their respective personal interviews. The interview was nothing extraordinary and he was asked about the most basic things.
He concluded by saying that anyone with the right mindset and skills can get into IBS. You should be confident enough and able to convey your thoughts. He also added that if anyone is opting for IBS, he should only go for the Mumbai or Hyderabad campus as the crowd is extremely moderate in other campuses.
Considering your profile you indeed have a good chance of getting shortlisted in the selection process and getting into IBS Hyderabad. It’s nothing to be said proudly but IBS Hyderabad has lowered its cut off in recent years mainly to attract more students and anything above 75 really guarantees admission into the B school. Make sure to keep yourself updated with the waiting list and get yourself enrolled in the IBS Hyderabad campus only.
