Can a lower-middle-class student afford to study in BITS Pilani or Goa?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : September 19th, 2023

Yes, a middle-class student can afford to study in BITS Pilani or Goa.

Though the course fees are a bit high for BITS Pilani or Goa there are scholarship opportunities for students based on their merit. Every student may enroll in a degree from an Indian prime institution thanks to several loan and scholarship options.

  •  For students who obtain the chance to study at prestigious institutions like BITS, banks provide educational loans to students even at low-interest rates. You may use a bank's credit to study, and then once you graduate, you can pay back the bank.
  •  Additionally, BITS provides its students with merit-based scholarships. According to a student's cumulative grade point average (CGPA) at the end of a certain semester, BITS offers many degrees of percentage tuition waivers, including 25%, 40%, and 75%.
  •  BITS Pilani provides scholarships for its graduates and from other countries. For any of them to be granted to you during your term, you must apply through the necessary application processes.
  • Scholarships for Merit in BITSAT (BITS Online Admission Test):

The first year's (2 semesters) tuition is waived for applicants who completed the BITSAT exams with outstanding scores. For the duration of the whole four-year program, a reduction in the hostel expenses is also provided.

Do BITS Pilani students miss out on the city life because of Pilani being a village?

SD
Shruti Dasgupta Posted On : August 5th, 2023
Student at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

No, you will regret choosing BITS Pilani due to the village life. The soothing, hush green campus helps to breathe fresh air, and every student will enjoy the peacefulness and comfort of this beautiful place. Of course, there are no malls or DJs to roam around with friends, but you can enjoy strolling in the lanes with your favorite people. Since it is situated in a small village, the students and faculty have a close relationship with each other as they conduct small gatherings and celebrate cultural festivals together. This college will gift you with magical experiences and beautiful memories.

How is ragging in MANIT Bhopal?

AR
Aditi Roy Posted On : November 8th, 2023
lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India

Ragging is still prevalent in MANIT, and it is much more serious than any other college. Those who claim that it is a zero ragging campus, consider ragging to be limited to physical assault. However, ragging includes all kinds of mistreatments and harassment.

The culture of fundas is a clear example of ragging on campus. One has to address the senior in a particular manner, and speak a lot of unnecessary things. If one doesn’t follow these fundas, there are serious consequences to it.

Roaming around the campus post class hours results in thrashing. The seniors verbally abuse and challenge freshers, even in front of security guards and professors. As a result of this culture, freshers are completely isolated from seniors.

It is hard to believe that such practices are prevalent in an Institute of National Importance. Some serious actions are needed to curb these harsh practices in MANIT Bhopal.

What is the most useless branch at NIT, Rourkela?

AK
Ashish Kumar Posted On : August 14th, 2023
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (2019)

I don't think there is a single useless branch at NIT Rourkela or at any institute. The diverse branches aim at catering to the needs of all kinds of students. So a branch that is useless for you might be useful for someone else and vice versa. Moreover, if a branch seems to be useless then it's because its students are not passionate enough to make the most out of it. Comparing branches can also result in this preconceived notion of a rank being inferior to the other.

It's always better to find solutions than to complain. Rather than declaring a specific branch to be useless, we should identify its weaknesses and work on them for instance, one of my friends found his branch to be below average and he along with his batchmates used to sit and single out companies that could hire them they even talked to the professors regarding the changes that coil be made in the curriculum to make the course more appealing and informative.

I believe once you start focusing on gaining knowledge rather than earning money, you won't find a single branch useless. Yes, a branch can provide lesser job opportunities than other branches but that does not make it useless.

How long does it take to get my transcripts if I apply online at Anna University?

RP
Raymond Patil Posted On : December 5th, 2022
Former Subject Matter Expert at Amazon Development Center , Hyderabad (2016–2017)

It takes a month, mostly to get your transcripts. Even though the Online Transcripts methods of Anna University have been in place for more than a year, they still refer to it as a Pilot process that just officially started. The process takes between 15 and 30 days, depending on the importance assigned by the authorities. So, always be cautious and apply at least three months in advance so that you can remain calm.

However, courier fees are quite high. India Post accepts international shipments and is less expensive than DHL and FedEx. It is preferable to visit the Controller of Examinations' office rather than apply online. However, this method is best suited for outstation students, particularly those from Tamil Nadu or any Southern states.

Is NIT Agartala safe for a non-Northeastern student?

A
Admin Posted On : September 18th, 2023

One of my friends was in a similar dilemma when he got both NIT Silchar and NIT Agartala. Since both the colleges are located in the North-East, many relatives and adults advised him to look for another institute. He decided to contact a senior and after a healthy discussion with a 4th year senior at NT Agartala, he decided to join the college.

Most of his batchmates are from Bihar and UP. A few are from Bhopal and Kolkata too. Around 30 to 50 students in every branch are from the South. The locals are very friendly and outgoing.

Today, he feels proud to be a part of North-Eastern College despite being from UP. He got the opportunity to experience diverse cultures and traditions. Moreover, the place is the perfect getaway from the scorching summer heat. The infrastructure is infused with natural beauty and makes the ambiance serene.

Overall, Agartala is a very peaceful place and has a huge non-North-Eastern intake so your security isn’t a big concern here.

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : September 25th, 2023

Yes, you can definitely enter VMMC for a tour.

It is a government owned institution, so you can visit the campus and have a look at its facilities. You can also catch a glimpse of AIIMS across the road from the Terrace Garden. But some areas like the library may be restricted for outsiders. You’ll require permission to enter classrooms and dissection halls.

You’ll love the green and beautiful campus of VMMC. It is especially mesmerizing in the evenings.

Can we crack the CLAT with 1 month prep and get into NALSAR?

AC
Akarshita Chauhan Posted On : September 8th, 2021
Studied at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad (2017)

Yes, it is possible to get into a top-rank NLU such as NLSIU, NALSAR or WBNUJS, etc. But this all depends on the strategy you have prepared. There are some CLAT achievers who join for a crash course. They study 8 hours a day rigorously. So, to get the same performance in 1 month is nearly impossible.

  • For CLAT GK is a crucial component. It comprises 50 questions.
  • You need to go through 1 year of Current Affairs focused on the CLAT pattern which comprises awards, political and executive appointments, mergers, etc.
  • Download old CLAT papers and look into the types of questions.
  • After that, make a strategy and prepare accordingly.
  • The Maths section is of basic level. So going through NCERT books will be a lot of help.
  • Verbal is about reading, grammar, and vocabulary. So revise your grammar concepts from your books.
  • Legal Aptitude is the most crucial element in CLAT and comprises 50 questions and here where tuitions play a role.
  • A good law teacher can help you crack CLAT without any hurdles.
  • Logical reasoning is again like maths, reading, and logic. This requires you to master the concepts and practice immensely.

So, it is suggested that you join the tuition classes for a crash course and dedicate 8 hours of your time to CLAT preparation. Cracking CLAT will only be possible if you work hard.

How is CSE in NIT kurukshetra?

SB
Susmita Bose Posted On : September 2nd, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra

Let me clarify the fact that NIT Kurukshetra has the CE or Computer Engineering branch and not CSE. While the former deals with hardware concepts the latter is all about software. The overall branch is decent but not at par with the IT or CSE branches of other institutes. The syllabus is somewhat outdated and so are the labs.

As far as the placements are concerned, the campus is visited by several IT companies like Directi, Amazon, Adobe, CDOT, etc Students often receive PPO and PPI from companies like Flookatt and Microsoft. The placement scenario is similar for IT as well.

Here are the detailed placement statistics:l

Eligible Students

Range of Package

INR 6.25 LPA - INR 47.00 LPA

Median CTC

INR 16.65 LPA

Average CTC

One needs to maintain a CGPA of around 8.5+ to secure good packages in CE at NIT Kurukshetra. The institute organizes several fests to ensure extracurricular activities are also conducted. The tech-society TECHNOBYTE organizes a lot of events during fests. Additionally, the GAWDS is a group of web and graphic enthusiasts where you can learn about software development. Frequent workshops for competitive programming are held on campus by the seniors.

Overall, the CE branch at NT Kurukshetra is good with decent placements, hostel facilities, and crowd.
