What percentile is needed for PGDISEM in NITIE?

AS
Arpita Sharma Posted On : August 16th, 2021
MBA General Management & Post Graduation in Supply Chain and Operations Management, NITIE (2018)

The minimum percentile to get admission in PGDISEM depends upon the number of applications received. In 2021, the cut-off for General was around 86, for OBC it was around 75 and for SC/ST it was 65.

The batch size is very small which is an advantage here. Only 44 seats are available for this program. The placement drives are quiet and relaxed compared to other branches and there are chances for every student to get shortlisted. Some companies hire students only from PGDISEM courses for certain roles such as EHS and sustainability and the average package offered is very good compared to other branches.

The percentile required to get admission in this course is definitely on the higher side, but the amount of facilities and freedom you get while pursuing this course is a big advantage over other courses.

Should I pursue ACM from NICMAR Pune by taking a loan?

SR
Sambhav Roychowdhury Posted On : September 17th, 2021
Post Graduation Diploma Advanced Construction Management ,National Institute of Construction Management and Research

NICMAR does not give 100% placement. You can confirm this from any of the graduates from the institute.

  • At NICMAR, for a PG in the quantum survey program at Hyderabad, you will get a package of 4 lakhs minimum. For ACM and other two years program packages, it will reach around 4.5 to 6.5 lakhs per annum.
  • Various companies like Asian paints, Hilti pay around 12 to 14 lakhs per annum along with Skoda but it is only for business development profile. As per the information above, you can get a minimum package of 4 lakhs if you are a fresher with an average academic record.
  • Therefore, if you have not taken out a large loan and you feel that with a bit of savings and a package of 4 lakh you will be able to pay off the loan, then go for it. But if you belong to a middle-class family and plan to take a loan of 14 to 16 lakhs then this will not be a wise move for you.
  • The situation of the industry is not good at all. L&T, Shapoorji Pallonji, and some other companies are the only ones that pay the salary on time. Various companies like simplex, HCC have a 1 to 3-month delay in paying salaries to their employees. A lot of graduates tend to start from site execution as Assistant project managers but the work pressure is too much for them and they give up after 1 to 1.5 years.
  • From the current CTC, the hike is not that much and somewhere around 12 to 15%. There are various engineers from NICMAR with 10 to 12 years of experience who are still working with an 80,000 salary in a construction company as AGM/ GM. A lot of graduates also join corporate interior companies with a package that is even lower than the construction company.

So, it won’t be wise to opt for a two-year ACM or any other program if you belong to a middle-class family and plan on taking a loan. You can rather go for a PGP quantity survey which is for one year or you can study hard for CAT and opt for MBA from a level 1 B-school where you will be paid well and will have strong career growth.

Among IIM Ranchi's PGD HRM and XAHR's MBA-HRM, which is a better programme?

RS
Rashmi Singh Posted On : January 12th, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Ranchi (2019)

Both programs have their own merits and demerits. Yet I am here to talk about XAHR’s MBA-HRM only. I will further list down some points in favor of my inclination toward this program particularly.

  • According to Eduniversal Best Masters Ranking Human Resources Management - Central Asia, XAHR holds the 5th position among the top B Schools within India specifically for this program.
  • Being one of the oldest Educational institutions in India, it has rich cultural values.
  • It just does not focus on academics but also on the extracurricular growth of its students.
  • The faculty is one of the most experienced ones, with both industry and teaching experience.
  • The comprehensive curriculum makes it possible for the students to experience the HR Conclaves, Leadership talks, and Outbound Leadership Program(TSAF).
  • The 3-month student exchange program is an excellent opportunity provided by the college.
  • Its early establishment has helped develop a strong alumni base which brings in many top companies for recruitment.
  • Excellent exposure is offered through Live Projects and Corporate Competitions.

All these features make the XAHR’s MBA-HRM program one of the most coveted courses in this field.

Should I prefer ACM in NICMAR Pune over M.tech in some college like Thapar?

Post Grad in Advanced Construction Management, National Institute of Construction Management and Research, Pune

If you want a career in management, choose NICMAR Pune. Select M.Tech in colleges such as Thapar, if a career in the technical field interests you more. The salary packages offered won’t be much different. Also, any difference in the salary packages will be during the initial phase only.  So, choose according to your interest.

Which one to choose: IIM L PGP-SM course or NITIE PGDIM?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : June 7th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

For an SCM background, PGDIM from NITIE will be a better option.

NITIE PGDIM focuses on core management and operations, while IIM Lucknow PGP-SM focuses on sustainability management.

For students from an SCM background, learning core management is of greater value. You will learn marketing, HR, and finance in depth.

Sustainability Management focuses on micro and macroeconomics to sustain the business environment. Sustainability Management is becoming increasingly important in management studies. It is becoming popular in the field of management. But the PGP-SM course will not cover core management.

What would be better, doing ACM from NICMAR Pune or doing a job?

GN
Gagan Nath Posted On : September 10th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Construction Management and Research, Pune

It would not be a good idea to join NICMAR right after the completion of a B.Tech degree. It will be better to join NICMAR after having 2-3 years of work experience. You can easily get a salary package of 5-6 LPA.

The reason NICMAR is so popular among students is to open new opportunities. In the past, profiles in Planning and Contracting have been offered. It will also enhance the chances of promotion after graduating from NICMAR or any higher studies.

However, it is important to talk to the currently studying students or the recent pass-out batch student and know the real situation.
