What could be the cutoff for NITIE PGDIM through CAT for NC-OBC?

AG
Anshul Garg Posted On : March 7th, 2023
BSc maths honours from University of Delhi (2021)

NITIE offers the PGDIM course, and the NITIE Mumbai CAT cutoff is based on CAT 2022. The minimum expected cutoff required for the general category students would be 95 percentile to get admission to NITIE Mumbai.

Admission to PGDIM is done through the percentile scored in CAT. These are the latest cut-offs and they depend on the no. of total applications and several other factors.

Below is the expected NITIE Mumbai CAT cutoff 2022 for the PGDIM course for the academic year 2022 for various category students.

Category

Cutoff Percentile

General

97

OBC

65

SC

65

ST

65

PWD

75

The cut-off that is officially mentioned for PGDIM/PGDSEM for an OBC candidate is above 65 percentile. But, I would suggest aiming for a percentile around 80–85, which will increase your chances of conversion.

Admission in PGDIM is done through the percentile scored in CAT. If you are an OBC candidate and looking to get admission to NITIE for PGDIM, then you must have secured an overall percentile of 86.5.

Now, for sectional cut-off for the OBC category, it varies every year. You must score 74 percentile in Quantitative and 74 in Verbal section as well.

These are the latest cut-offs but they depend on the no of total applications and several other factors.

What type of questions are asked in an interview for a PGDIM course in NITIE, Mumbai?

RR
Ravi Ranjana Rai Posted On : August 13th, 2021
Post Graduate Diploma Industrial Management, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2020)

One of my close friends recently got admission to NITIE Mumbai. In the interview, he was asked mostly about his final year engineering project and his work experience, education, and about his skills. To clear your interview you will have to prepare very hard and will have to practice a lot. Here are a few things you should do for your preparation.

  • Introduction: You will be asked to introduce yourself. So prepare a good introduction about yourself where you should cover all the major points you want to highlight. Tell them about your academics, hobbies, extracurricular activities, and also about your personal life.
  • Project: You will be asked about your graduation project. So you should know everything about the project. They will ask about the topic, project objective, your contributions, and what were the achievements.
  • Work Experience: If you have any prior work experience, then they will ask questions about it. There will be questions about your job role, your experience, and your achievements. And if you are a fresher, then prepare 3-4 engineering subjects, as they will ask you questions based on that.
  • Current Affairs: Stay updated with current affairs. Read newspapers, magazines and watch the news regularly. This will help you in GD too.

NITIE has a mock admission process called B-Cube. This will give you an idea about the GD and Interview.

Should I join NITIE PGDIM as a fresher with no work experience? What is the scenario of placements for freshers at NITIE? Should I write the CAT again?

SC
Shivani Chaturvedi Posted On : August 13th, 2021

You can definitely join NITIE as a fresher. You will have ample learning and placement opportunities at NITIE.

NITIE has placements at par with any other B school in India. NITIE is one of very few B-schools that conduct separate lateral and common placement processes for experienced and fresher. Also, NITIE has a magnificent ROI.

In case your academic record is not good and you have no prior work experience then it’s better to join a job and prepare for next year’s CAT. You can’t improve your academics but this way, you can improve your overall profile.

So, choose the option that suits you best.

Do people opt for a PGDIM at NITIE Mumbai even after doing an MTech?

AM
Ahaana Malhotra Posted On : August 11th, 2021
PGDIM Industrial Management, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2018)

If you are asking from a technical point of view, you will not face any issues for doing PGDIM from NITIE once you have completed your M.Tech.

But, in the future, you might be asked during an interview as to why you have pursued a management degree after completing your master’s in a core field. Be prepared to give a convincing answer.

If you are thinking of joining the industry and then doing a management degree makes sense. It would definitely help you scale up your current job prospects. But, if you are pursuing this degree without any industry experience, it might come off as a little haphazard, like you are jumping from one degree to another. This might confuse your recruiter a little if your final goal is to bag placement in a decent company.

You can go ahead but think of a good reason as to why you want to pursue this to ensure that you get placed in your future and don’t face any problems.

Which one to choose: IIM L PGP-SM course or NITIE PGDIM?

YK
Yashika Kulkarni Posted On : August 20th, 2021
MBA from Indian Institute of Planning and Management

You should enroll in NITIE PGDIM because with an SCM background, you will benefit from learning core management. PGDIM at NITIE will focus on marketing, finance, and HR in a more comprehensive manner, giving you a boost due to your SCM background.

Check the following table for a comparative analysis of both programs:

Particulars PGDIM at NITIE PGP-SM at IIM Lucknow
Total Fees 13.43 Lakhs 9.20 Lakhs
Highest CTC 44 LPA 27.5 LPA
Average CTC 20.85 LPA 18.79 LPA
Top 10% Average Salary 37.38 LPA 25.60 LPA

As per the brochure for the IIML-SM course, you will be taught sustainability management, which focuses more on Macro and Microeconomics to sustain business environments. It will not cover core areas of Marketing, Finance, and HR. However, SM is an emerging field in management.

Which course is better for a B.Tech fresher in mechanical: PGDIE or PGDIM at NITIE?

RK
Rubani Kaur Posted On : August 16th, 2021
MBA from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2018)

Both PGDIE and PGDIM are very good courses for a mechanical engineer, but the syllabus for both these courses is different.

PGDIE

  1. It is a flagship course of NITIE which is more focused on industrial engineering. To get admission to this course, you have to clear the GATE exam.
  2. As a fresher, you can make up with most of the students in your branch but you might not be able to contribute as much as the students who have significant experience, especially in class discussions and group activities.
  3. But there won't be many problems during placements as there are many companies who are looking for fresh candidates to join their team, especially in the FMCG sector.

PGDIM

  1. It is a management course that is equivalent to an MBA course, and to get admission in this course, you have to clear the CAT exam.
  2. As a fresher, if you take admission in this course, you would probably be in the minority as most of the students would have some kind of work experience.
  3. There will be certain projects which would need some kind of experience and here your other batch mates can be a step ahead of you.
  4. You will have to do a lot of reading and communicating with all your batch mates, professors to learn how a business works.

Both the courses are very different from each other and now it depends on you in which field you are interested in. If you want to pursue a management course then go for PGDIM or if you want to be in the field of engineering, then you can choose PGDIE.
