Computer Science/Information Technology:
Both CS and IT have almost the same course structure. That’s why they provide similar placement facilities and future study opportunities. Another advantage of taking CS/IT is that you will find most of the study material online. You can learn on your own and won’t have to depend on the faculty and college lectures. For practicals too you will only require a system. The hardware-related practicals can be done using simulators.
CS/IT should be your choice if you are not sure about the branch and want to secure a good placement.
How is IET DAVV, Indore for Electronics?
One of my friends was a student of IET DAVV. He said that the faculties for the Electronics branch are better than most of the colleges in Madhya Pradesh. They have a reputation of good and student friendly faculty.
- The curriculum for Electronics here is the basic one like in most of the colleges and hasn’t been included with anything special.
- Placements are average in the Electronics branch. Being a core subject, various core companies visit the campus for recruitment.
- Companies such as Tata Industries, TCS are major recruiters along with few major core companies.

The electronics course has been certified by AICTE. For the electronics branch there are comparatively less number of industries in Madhya Pradesh so internships are given on an average scale. Almost 60 percent of the students at least get an opportunity in the course tenure.
How was your first week experience at IET-DAVV?
My friend is currently studying at IET, DAVV and his experience is described as follows:
He started his college on the first day itself and it was quite overwhelming to be a part of this large and reputed community. The sections were not divided till 4–5 days, and all the 120 students of Computer Science were clubbed together in a single class. As he was a hosteller, it got easy for him to meet new people and make friends.
- What he cherished the most at IET was the lush green campus, good faculties, nice classrooms and labs.
- There were some extraordinary teachers, which left a great mark on the students because of their way of teaching. But, some teachers were not so good, as they paid attention only to theoretical knowledge more than practical one.
After some days when the classes were divided, they didn’t waste any time to unite and befriend each other. Then, the onset of various events at the campus marked the strengthening of friendship due to repeated meetings and interactions among them. The seniors were friendly, interacting and they also organized a Welcome Party for juniors!
Overall he had quite an unforgettable experience there and we hope that such a thrilling and heart-warming experience is waiting for you too!
In between SGS ITS Indore and IET DAVV which one is better for Civil Engg?

Faculty: A huge amount of professors of SGSITS have their degrees from previous IITs or IISC while not many professors at IET DAVV are from IITs or IISC.

- SGSITS conducts classes 5 days a week while IET DAVV does it for 6 days.
- The Graduation Degree procured by IET DAVV holds more value as it is a NAAC A Grade University but when it comes to the popularity, more people are aware of SGSITS around the country as compared to IET DAVV.
- SGSITS and IET DAVV are considered just after IIT Indore and MANIT by the students who want to pursue engineering.
Both the colleges stand apart in different aspects and are good within their sphere. SGSITS still seems to be better by a mark but ultimately it is you who knows which option is better.
How is the CS branch in IET-DAVV?
IET-DAVV is one of the best among state-level engineering colleges in M.P. If we consider Indore and MANIT Bhopal as well, state-wise, the rank of IET-DAVV becomes 4th.
- IET-DAVV offers the best placement offers to the CS branch. This isn't exclusive to IET-DAVV, as it goes for any engineering college around the country.
- In recent years, students also scored well in CAT and GATE. But for coding, your company would stand out. There are people who scored 99 percentile in their CAT and for GATE.
- If you are into coding, you will find some like-minded people on campus.
- The infrastructure, administration, faculty strength are not that great but decent.
- For CS, you can expect a CTC around 5-12 LPA. In 2020, the average CTC offered in the placement drive was 6 LPA.
In case you do not make it to the top 15 NITs, do not lose hope and go for IET-DAVV.
Can I transfer colleges from JEC Jabalpur to IET-DAVV?
Most of the colleges have a transfer policy. IET-DAVV, Indore is one among such colleges. In IET, fortunately, admission is allowed in the second year of engineering. The only two conditions are as follows.
- IET should have vacant seats.
- The candidate has successfully cleared the first year of B.E. with passing marks in all the subjects as per the passing criteria of the previous college, i.e., JEC Jabalpur.
There are chances that the transfer applications are piled-up more than the available number of seats. If this is the case, the transfer depends upon the merit of marks obtained in the first year.
You should contact IET and enquire about the conditions for student transfer. Sometimes reputed institutes do not accept a transfer from lesser-known institutes. For example, IITs do not take a transfer from a state university. So, do your research.
Should I join IET DAVV or SGSITS for the CS branch?
If you are looking forward to studying the CS branch, any college among the two can be the winner. It doesn’t make much difference because both of them are of the same league. But, SGSITS is slightly better.
Reasons:
- SGSITS is the best in terms of campus placement. It has a record of almost 100% placements every year. Especially for CSE and IT, the graph of packages has been increasing every year.
- The institute conducts various events and competitions to upscale the students.
- It has the best coding environment.
Overall, the institute is a little strict for the CS branch but is the best choice.
What is new CBCS system in IET DAVV?
From the year 2015, a new CBCS system i.e.Choice Based Credit System has been introduced in IET DAVV. This system has brought a remarkable change in academics, especially in the grading system. With the introduction of the CBCS system, students are now allotted alphabetical grades instead of numerical marks on their performance in the exam.
With the implementation of the CBCS system, the management has also modified and updated various courses and syllabus. In the CBCS system, the final marks are calculated on the basis of two scores. 40% from mid sem test and 50% from the final exam score constitute to become the final marks. This system has reduced the stress on performing in a single final exam. The only downside that this system has is that you have to appear in two mid sem compulsorily to score in the final exam. Overall, the CBCS system is way better than the previous system. Rest everything depends on how you perform in the exam.
Which should be preferred IIIT Vadodara or DAVV Indore for CSE?
It is suggested you go for IIIT Vadodara. Living here for more than 4 years, I can say that it is a safe city and good to blend in.
- IIIT Vadodara is being mentored by DA-IICT which will help you gain exposure to many new opportunities and environments as compared to DAVV.
- The faculty is very well qualified and the placements have surely become better over the last few years.
- The Alumni cell and network are still developing to be strong.
- Cutoffs are high at IIIT Vadodara so the students can be quite competitive.
- The tag of IIIT also has its own advantages.
- Moreover, curriculum-wise, IIIT’s CSE/IT curriculum does not include irrelevant subjects and it focuses quite a lot on projects and practicals.
