Can someone give me a priority order for these MBBS colleges Seth Gs , Grant, KGMU, BHU, CMC Vellore, AIIMS (except Delhi)?

NM
Nikhil Mishra Posted On : November 18th, 2022
M.B.B.S. from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (Graduated 2017)

Every college is good in one or the other aspects. Its location, faculty, and infrastructure are the main factors that determine a college's priority. The following list contains the colleges in order of priority based on their pros and cons.

Pros:

  • BHU: No requirement to sign a bond

  • Seth GS: Located in Mumbai with the best academic structure

  • KGMU Lucknow: The location and academic structure are perfect.

  • Other AIIMS: No need to sign any bond and the fee structure is affordable. AIIMS tag can help you with USMLE purposes.

Cons:

  • BHU: Located in Varanasi, it lacks the facilities of metropolitan cities like Delhi and Mumbai

  • Seth GS: Mumbai is expensive and a bond of 1 year needs to be signed

  • CMC Vellore: You will have to learn Tamil as it is located South India. The fee structure is pretty expensive.

  • Other AIIMS: They are usually not located in a good location except for Bhopal and Bhubaneswar.

The preferred order as per the pros and cons can be - BHU> AIIMS> KGMU> Grant> Seth GS> CMC Vellore

One college can be good for you but bad for others. This is because your own needs determine which college is best for you. So choose wisely.

Pawan Sharma Posted On : November 18th, 2022
BSc from Banaras Hindu University (Graduated 2018)

My friend had a fairly good experience at BHU. She had switched her stream to Arts from BTech so she did not expect much. However, as time passed she realized her decision was worthwhile

Some common pros and cons she experienced at BHU are:

Pros-

  • Improved in academics

  • She was able to crack ALP technician CBT-1 because of excess free time

  • Started pursuing her photography skills

  • Travelled with her savings as fees were very less

  • Started writing poetries

  • worked on two projects & developed my own website

Cons-

  • Became a victim of society's taunts that I could not pursue BTech so opted for Arts.

My friend’s experience signifies how life at BHU can change you and your dreams easily.

How is the hostel facility in BHU compared to that of KGMU?

Namrata Das Posted On : September 26th, 2023

The hostel facilities of IMS BHU and KGMU are at par with each other with no major differences. Here are the year-wise hostels allotted to students of both colleges

First-year:

  • BHU : First-year students of BHU are allotted the Punarvasu Atreya Hostel. This is the hostel with the best facility wherein students are offered double occupancy rooms. There are some restrictions in the initial months. The mess food in this hostel is decent and it also has a small play area. Other facilities include 24-hour electricity and water supply with free internet wifi.
  • KGMU : KGMU first-year students are allotted the CV hostel that has double occupancy rooms. It has Wi-Fi availability, scenery mess food, and a canteen, but is slightly larger than the Atreus hostel of BHU

So, for the first-year students, KGMU hostel > IMS BHU hostel

Second Year

  • IMS BHU: The second-year students of IMS BHU are allotted the Ruiya hostel which is the most beautiful hostel of IMS BHU. It’s known for its lush greenery and is widely spread in a huge area. The rooms are triple occupancy.
  • KGMU: The second-year students are allotted to the TG hostel which is a multistorey building situated in a colony. Single occupancy rooms are allotted to every student. The only drawback is that it’s quite far away from the main campus.

So for the second year, IMS BHU hostel >KGMU

Third year and Last year:

  • IMS BHU : The third-year students of IMS BHU are allotted the Ruiya annex hostel which is very well furnished with double occupancy rooms. In the last year, students have been allotted the Dhanvantari hostel which has single occupancy rooms.
  • KGMU: The third and last-year students of KGMU are allotted with SP hostel which has double occupancy rooms. If you score good marks in your final year, then you may get a single-room

So for third-year hostels, IMS BHU ~KGMU

Overall, the hostels of both IMS BHU and KGMU are equally good in terms of cleanliness and maintenance.

What is the future of LLM from IIT Kharagpur? Is it better than other LLM colleges

YV
Yogita Verma Posted On : March 23rd, 2023
LLM at NLU Delhi, 2020

I will not suggest you to join RGSOIPL, IIT Kharagpur because of a number of reasons

  • RGSOIPL still has a two-year programme while most Law Schools have changed the duration of the program to one year only. Wasting an additional year is not worth it.
  • The LLM program lacks the necessary coursework and relevancy of the curriculum mainly because the administration has zero knowledge about specializations.
  • The faculty is focused on the flagship program that is LLB and hardly cares about LLM students. It also lacks the necessary skills to teach the program effectively.
  • The institution does not permit students to opt for internships during vacations rather want them to work in their sponsored projects.

I would suggest you choose premier institutes for LLM such as - BHU, AMU, DU, NLSIU, NUJS, NALSAR.
