I am eligible to answer this question as my sister is a pass out from IIT Delhi, Energy Studies. According to her, the primary step is to determine what you want from your degree; is it a brand name you are after or do you want a better branch that offers quality MTech education?
As far as Energy Studies are concerned, the career prospects from campus are bleak with only 1-2 students getting placed from the entire branch. This branch is suited for those who are preparing for IES IAS. This is because the workload is considerably less in comparison to other branches sparing you enough time to prepare.
But if you are genuinely interested in pursuing a career in Energy Studies and subjects like renewable energy intrigue you, you can always go for off-campus opportunities which are in abundance.
As far as Control System Engineering is concerned, you can find more job opportunities in the field for energy engineers than for a control system engineer.
For either branch, the option of teaching as a job opportunity is always open and can be considered.

All the above parameters shows the credibility of IIT Delhi. It offers a great ROI considering the fees are less than 10 lakhs and the average and the median salaries offered are more than 2 times the fees paid for the course. It is one of the best B-schools and there should be no second thoughts about joining the same.

IIT Delhi Telecommunication Management MTech program is one of the most preferred programs among students with electronics and electrical backgrounds.
No doubt, the workload of this program is extremely high with a plethora of courses. One needs great capabilities to handle the pressure. The Integrated Electronics and Circuits branch is more suitable if all you are interested in is hardware.
Telecommunication Management is a multifaceted program of 3 branches; CS EE and DMS. The curriculum is well structured covering software and hardware topics. The core courses are better in the second year than in the first. You will get knowledge of both core technical as well as telecom management sectors.
With the right set of skills and core knowledge, one can fetch excellent packages. Top recruiters include
IIT Delhi lets you choose minors in your area of interest leaving you some extra chance to pursue a career in another branch in case telecommunications does not work for you
For an engineering student, his choice of branch is very crucial as it is the determining factor of his career. The institute is important no doubt but only for 4 years. For the rest of your life, your branch will shape your career more than anything.
The scope of Chemical Engineering is very wide and covers a humongous range of fields like
Chemical Engineering graduates are sought by the above industries at large.
The work of a chemical engineer is to operate the plants optimally. He is also responsible for designing the plants along with a team of other branch engineers. India has less scope in this industry in comparison to abroad. With topics covered like thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer the branch has more of a physics element than a chemical element.
It’s completely on you which industry or nature of work you are willing to go for. It’s important to note that the career growth of a chemical engineer will not be as fast-paced as that of a CS graduate but the wait will be worth it in the end.
Both of the institutes are located in Delhi, so location is not the issue. Both are visited by top management companies like Bain and BCG. Honestly speaking, Civil Engineering will limit your chances to go for tech companies like Microsoft, DE Shaw, Cisco, and Google. However, for Quant profile, IIT Delhi is the best with top banks such as JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, and Goldman Sachs.
Both institutes have access to coaching institutes for preparation for Civil Services or MBA but IIT Delhi has a much better location. Basically, both institutes offer a heterogeneous mix of facilities and opportunities.
Why should one go for NSUT?
IIT Delhi Civil is a bit inferior in comparison to NSIT, as TPOs mostly comprise Tech Companies that are open for circuital branches like CSE, EE, ECE, M&C, and Instrumentation. Moreover, IIT Delhi has a better crowd and thus more competition during internships and placements. The core placements in Civil are pathetic and most students opt for non-core placements.
Why should one go for IIT Civil?
Conclusion
If you are looking for internship opportunities right after graduation, NSUT is the place for you but if you are ready to pursue a slow but stable career with a great scope for growth then IIT Delhi Civil is a good choice for you.
One of my friends recently completed the GIPEDI internship offered at IIT Delhi. She got immense exposure to image processing and Machine learning in health care. She had to work on MRI image segmentation using machine learning. The entire work was research-based and she was assisted by a Ph.D. scholar.
She told me that the best part was that even after completing her internship she met in touch with her mentors and worked together. This helped her get a few good-quality publications.
Unlike what is mentioned on the website, no soft skills are considered during the internship. She expected to get a project in the CS department owing to her background in the same domain, but she was sent to the Electrical department instead. A new project irrelevant to your stream is assigned to you during this internship. Moreover, there are no accommodation facilities provided for such interns.
IIT Delhi has a total of 13 hostels - 11 for boys and 3 for girls.
In terms of cleanliness, security, network service electricity all the hostels are decent and provide the necessary means for a comfortable stay.
Old hostels: The old hostels lack a few amenities. One big flaw is the lack of lifts despite the hostels having more than 3-4 floors. Moreover, there is only one water filter on the ground floor and it’s a big task for students to come from 3 floors to the ground floor to fill water bottles.
The new hostels have better facilities and even have lifts and water service stationed on every floor. The rooms are also bigger in comparison to the older hostels. Every hostel has night canteens that offer food at subsidiary rates.
Washrooms: The washrooms are cleaned daily and hygiene is maintained. You even have geysers for winter.
Girls' hostels: Everything is very substandard in girls' hostels that are located on a drain because of which a foul smell prevails on the campus throughout the day. The rooms are very few in comparison to the strength and the food served in the mess is pathetic. Availability of rooms is a major problem there and the mess food is pathetic.
IIT Delhi hostels indeed are well maintained but it's important to note that the facilities provided vary from hostel to hostel.

You can get a summer internship at IIT Delhi in 2 possible ways:
Applying to the Summer Research Fellowship: This is usually for non-IIT students who wish to do an internship with IIT and also has a fixed stipend. However, I have no knowledge about the ML domain specifically.
Looking for professors that work on topics that interest you: Once you have found a professor whose work aligns with your area of interest, contact him through the mail. Tell him about your interest and your knowledge of that topic. However, working under a professor requires constant approaches and you won’t be able to contact him in the first go.
