Which is better, NMIMS HR or SCMHRD-MBA in Business Analytics?

BT
Bhaskar Trivedi Posted On : April 23rd, 2021
MBA from SVKM's NMIMS, graduated in 2019

Someone I know who is an alumnus of SCMHRD has said that finding out which college is better will bear little to no fruits.

You can get in touch with the professionals from both programs and try to understand what you will have to do in order to make a name for yourself. An internal analysis is involved after which it is gauged what field would be the most suitable for you.

NMIMS is popular for producing marketing professionals. Finance is also popular in the institute. Analytics is not the flagship course of SCMHRD. They are very different courses and your temperament and aptitude are also contributing factors.

Which are the better colleges in Bhubaneswar for an MBA expect XIMB, KIIT, BIMTECH, or ASBM, with better placement, good facilities, and course fees?

SB
Saunak Banerjee Posted On : April 25th, 2023
XIMB (2019)

 I'll categorize the B-schools of Bhubaneshwar/Odisha.

  • Tier 1: Top-ranked B schools with 10+ LPA average packages.
  • Tier 2: B-Schools with 7+ LPA average packages are great possibilities if you cannot convert any of the top 50 b schools in India.
  • Tier 3: B Schools with 4.5+ LPA average packages should only be chosen if you want an MBA at any cost.

Tier 1:

  1. XIMB's Business Management program is the first in the nation. It is a top Indian business school.
  2. XaHr—formerly XIMB HRM—is one of the top five HR colleges in the nation.
  3. IIM Sambalpur - The IIM brand never hurts.

Tier 2: XSRM, originally XIMB Rural Management, is one of the top RM schools in the nation.

Tier 3:

  1. IMI Bhubaneswar is a tier 3 institution, however, IMI Delhi is a top b school. Its ROI and placement are better than other tier 3 colleges on this list.
  2. KSOM - KIIT School of Management has good facilities but needs to improve placement. B schools don't have 4 LPA medians.

Having friends in both colleges, in my opinion, ISBS Pune is much better than IIM Indore. Let me share some details, as to why I feel this way.

  • First of all, location-wise, Pune is a really good location as compared to Indore when it comes to looking for jobs as well as lifestyle.
  • The course curriculum and the faculties are really good at ISBS.
  • If you are looking for a really good student crowd, you will find that at ISBS and even IIMP Pune.
  • There are a number of advantages you will get to explore if you join ISBS.
  • The college has an educational foreign trip to Singapore and also provides laptops to students.
  • There are also a number of international and national seminars you can attend.
  • You will also be able to gain a lot of certifications and go for industry visits.
  • You will also have placement training for GDPI.

The table below will give you an idea regarding the placements:

I have done MBA from a local college. I am working for last 2 years. Is it possible to pursue MBA again from top colleges like IIM, XLRI or ISB?

NT
Niharika Taneja Posted On : April 22nd, 2023
MBA Marketing, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (2018)

If you are considering pursuing an MBA from top colleges like IIM, XLRI, or ISB even after already obtaining an MBA from a local college and working for the last 2 years, the good news is that it is possible.

Here are some things to consider:

  • Pursuing a second MBA can be a great way to enhance your knowledge and skills and potentially open up new career opportunities.
  • It's important to have a clear understanding of your career goals before deciding to pursue another MBA. Make sure you're not just doing it for the sake of doing it.
  • Keep in mind that MBA programs at top colleges can be highly competitive, so you'll need to make sure you have a strong application that showcases your achievements and potential.
  • In addition to strong academics and work experience, admissions committees will also be looking for evidence of leadership, teamwork, and other important soft skills.
  • Another factor to consider is the cost of pursuing an MBA, especially if you'll need to take time off work or relocate to attend a full-time program.
  • However, there are also part-time and online MBA programs that can offer more flexibility for working professionals.
  • If you do decide to pursue a second MBA, it's important to be transparent about your previous degree and work experience in your application and interviews.

Be prepared to explain why you feel another MBA is necessary and how it will help you achieve your career goals.

Finally, keep in mind that an MBA is just one part of your overall career journey. It's important to continue learning and growing throughout your career, regardless of whether or not you pursue another degree.

What should I choose, ISB Hyderabad PGP, IIM-A PGPX, INSEAD, Booth Chicago, or LBS?

SJ
Sourav Jain Posted On : March 12th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad

To make a choice from any of the colleges, you must judge practically by calculating the net benefit for each school. This is because all the intangible aspects like brand value, networking opportunity, learning, etc will definitely manifest in the expected earning potential after the completion of your MBA.

Firstly, calculate your present earning potential by adding your ‘Current salary’ and expected increase and what is the maximum you can earn in this field (also, how many years it will take?) - Say you can reach up to X in 10 years and then it’s more or less constant.

Now, Calculate the investment for each college -

Cost / Investment = Fees + Stay + exchange program + opportunity cost (current salary * number of months)

ROI after MBA= Expected Salary ranges in the industry you want to work in. What is the maximum earning potential you can reach?

It should be more than X or if it's X in fewer years than your current state, which shows that your investment in that college will be worth it in the future. This way will definitely help you invest in the right place.

UG
Ujjwal Gupta Posted On : March 13th, 2023
MBA Marketing & Finance, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (2017)

MBF (Master's in Business Finance) is a course under the Xavier School of Commerce (XSC). It is important to note that XIMB and XSC are separate schools coming under the umbrella of Xavier University Bhubaneswar (XU). Some key highlights related to this course are

  • MBF is a specialized program spread over a 2-year period divided into 4 semesters
  • The course curriculum has 84 credits of classroom instruction and other credit components including two sets of elective specializations - "Banking and Insurance", and "Finance"
  • Additionally, the program requires project work carrying 10 credits
  • It covers immersion courses on current issues, seminars, workshops and interaction with industry experts.
  • In the first two semesters, students get inputs on the basic areas such as Financial Accounting, Financial Management, Corporate Laws, Statistics, Economics, Research Methodology, MIS, Quantitative Techniques, and many more. These core courses set the foundation for more advanced courses such as Project Planning, Appraisal and Finance, Behavioral Finance, Financial Modeling, Business Analytics, Corporate Tax Planning, and so on.
  • In the fourth-semester students will be required to opt for the electives of their choice. Currently, two sets of elective specializations are ‘Banking and Insurance’, and ‘Finance’, out of which each student will have to select one.
  • While the program covers a wide range of courses, 'finance’ remains the main focus area.
  • The knowledge base of the students also gets further strengthened by summer projects, immersion courses on current issues, seminars, workshops and interaction with industry experts.
  • There are various leadership talks and conclaves organized by InfinX, the functional committee of the MBF program

The course is a good option for the qualitative development of an individual, and details regarding placements and internships can be checked from the official website.
