What is the minimum percentile to get a call from FMS Delhi and MDI Gurgaon?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : May 30th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

For FMS, you need to get 99+ for a call and at least 99.5 to convert because they give a lot of weightage on CAT Percentile (50%).

For MDI, you need 94+ to get a call with sectionals over 85+, and you need anything above 98+ to convert if you don't have any work experience.

What minimum percentile should a girl belonging to OBC Category get for selection in FMS Delhi?

RM
Ragini Mukharjee Posted On : May 30th, 2023
Studied at Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi

With the new FMS criteria for the batch 2020, students from the OBC category who scored 93.xx and were on the first list. However, keep in mind that conversions with these borderline percentiles are exceedingly tough because you will have to perform exceptionally well in the GD-PI process.

As a result, for an OBC candidate, a score of 97+ may be deemed safe, as an above-average GD-PI combined with this CAT score may get you a seat in FMS.

Ideally a score below 200 will not get you any of the top campuses accepting your NMAT scores

The campus cut offs would be as follow

  • NMIMS Mumbai (210 and above)
  • NMIMS Bangalore (199 above)
  • NMIMS Hyderabad (190-195)
  • NMIMS Navi Mumbai (185+)

SJ
Shakar Jha Posted On : January 8th, 2021
Studied at Amrita University (2020)

Amrita University's main campus is in Coimbatore. The college states that rank and cut off for the different branches vary each year. At the time of seat allotment, students will be asked to select the preferred program.

It should be noted that Amrita University is only considering JEE Main session 1 scores. The decision will depend on rank obtained in JEE Main or AEEE and seats available on different campuses.

Cutoff:

The table below highlights the ranks for the CSE program at the three branches of Amrita University in 2017.

Branches

Amrita Puri CSE

Coimbatore CSE

Open Quota

6940

1813

State Quota

16547

13801

The table shows that students with 2582 rank in AEEE have a chance of getting the Amrita Puri campus with both the State and Open Quota. But the Coimbatore campus' CSE program requires a higher rank of 1831 in the Open Quota.

Students should keep the following in mind as well.

Counseling Process:

  • The counseling process was initiated by Amrita University on September 3, 2020.

  • Students get to clarify doubts during the first allotment and those who choose a program in any of the campuses have to pay INR 10,0000.

  • The Second Allotment is for those who opted for sliding and those who are below the last rank in the first allotment.

Important Points:

  • The counseling will be done through online mode.

  • Students must keep in mind that the selection will be based on eligibility, seat availability, category, merit, and rank.

  • In 2018, the opening rank for the general category was between 1-750 and the closing rank was between 9501 to 10000, and that for the reserved category was between 1-15000 and 15001 - 25,000.

Students must also note that the Amravati campus is not offering engineering programs for the year 2020. The Coimbatore campus is the main campus of Amrita University and has live-in labs, holds student exchange programs, and has more than 150 faculty members.

What is the cutoff for IIM Amritsar (general) and other baby IIMs (estimated percentile required for conversion, not just calls)?

IZ
Ibra Zahoor Posted On : February 6th, 2023
B.B.E. in Business and Economics & International Trade and Finance, University of Delhi (Graduated 2018)

It is possible to achieve a high percentile in the CAT exam, such as 99+, and still not receive an invitation from any Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). This is because a high percentile alone is not always sufficient for guaranteed acceptance.

It is important to note that IIMs take into consideration a candidate's overall academic performance since the 10th standard and not just their CAT percentile. Additionally, candidates must also clear the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Furthermore, candidates from an engineering background may have a slight disadvantage in terms of points.

Some IIMs also place a significant emphasis on work experience.

Category Quantitative Aptitude(Percentile) Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning(Percentile) Verbal & Reading Comprehension(Percentile) Total(Overall Percentile)
Section-1 Section-2 Section-3
General 80 75 75 85
EWS 80 75 75 85
Non-Creamy Other Backward Classes (NC-OBC) 65 60 60 75
Scheduled Castes (SC) 55 50 50 55
Scheduled Tribes (ST) 35 35 35 40
Persons with Disabilities (PwD) 35 35 35 40

It is highly recommended to visit the official websites of the IIMs you are interested in for detailed information on the selection criteria and to keep yourself updated. You can also connect with current students via LinkedIn to gather more information. It's important to note that selection criteria can slightly change every year.

With all India rank 70,000 in JEE Main, can I get admission in PEC, Chandigarh if I have Chandigarh quota?

SK
Shubhi Kashyap Posted On : May 4th, 2021
Studied IT from IIIT Allahabad (2020)

You have a chance of getting into PEC with AIR 70000 on the board and Chandigarh quota, but branch preference can be an issue. Production and Metallurgy are the branches you are qualified for. You can wait until the spot round as this rank might put you in this branch.

2020 Cut-offs :

Specialization

Opening rank

CSE

1438

Aerospace engineering

19598

Electrical engineering

14467

ECE

11011

Metallurgical and Materials Engineering

42275

If you are from the general category, then it might be a problem. But if you have some other quota also, then it will improve your chances. You can get admission as far as just admission is concerned.

What are my chances of getting call from NITIE Mumbai with a gate score 560 (sc category)?

SP
Sanya Pathak Posted On : August 16th, 2021
Studied Rural Management at Institute of Rural Management, Anand (2019)

If your GATE score ranges up to 560, you have a chance to be called in for other upcoming rounds. However, the majority of it also depends upon your peers. If the exam is taken by more than 13 Lakh Engineers, and around 6 Lakh score around 550 or above. You can have an advantage of your quota.

Here is the expected cut off range for the year 2021 of NITIE Mumbai,

Category  GATE Score Range
General 720 to 760 +
OBC NCL 550 +
SC 500 +
ST 420+

In any case, you still are required to perform extremely well to outdo the majority of your competitors.

Does IIM Trichy have students with an 89 percentile?

AJ
Ankit Jha Posted On : January 13th, 2023
IIM Trichy (PGPM 2020-2022), CFA L2 candidate

Students can get into IIM Trichy with a percentile as low as 89 only under the following conditions

  • He/she either belongs to the NC-OBC or EWS category (still they need to have a good academic background, work experience, or diversity factor)
  • If the candidates' profile is spectacular is other aspects
  • For any other category since their cutoff is even lower than 89, such a percentile will surely guarantee them a seat.

The criteria is almost the same for the other IIMs with a slight difference based on their rankings and reputation.
