Which is better: CSE at BIT Mesra or IT at NIT Allahabad?
It’s highly illogical to compare BIT Mesra with NIT Allahabad. MNNIT Allahabad belongs to a different league and is way better than BIT Mesra. Its CS and IT placements are surprisingly better than the new IITs too.

What's your experience of attending M.Tech (nanoscience and engineering) interviews at IISc Bangalore?
My friend has the opportunity to attend MTech inter rhe at IISc Bangalore. She was called on the first day itself where she sat waiting and was eventually summoned.
As she entered the room, the panelists asked for her introduction. They bombarded her with both technical as well as non-technical questions. The non-technical ones looked like
- What made you choose nano-technology?
- What do you know about nanotechnology?
They kept counter-questioning her based on her answers. Following this was a round of technical questions. I have only mentioned the most important ones
- In the current times our electronic devices are becoming smaller, so what do you think?
- Draw the MOSFET structure on the board. The problems and the solution pertaining to it.
- What is the fastest bus?
The interview lasted for 40 minutes. What she learned from her experience was that you need to focus on your basics while preparing. Also, try to answer them honestly because they will counter-question you. She was also surprised that they did not even care to ask a single question about Math and the whole interview was a new experience.
How was your IIT Kharagpur VGSoM interview?

How did IIIT Lucknow get better placement than IIIT Gwalior (since it has better alumni and brand name)?
There is no doubt that you will receive better placement opportunities in IIIT Gwalior than in IIIT Lucknow. The main reason behind this is that irrespective of the count of students in the IIIT Lucknow, around 40 students from 2020 batch got placed with an average of 18 Lacs per annum package. At IIIT Gwalior, the average salary recorded for 2020 batch was 14.5 Lacs per annum.

Preparation Strategy:
- Practice previous year’s questions when preparing for the two entrances. Understand the respective exam patterns and types of questions that appear commonly.
- Know the marking scheme and important topics in order to score well in the exam.
- Do subject wise preparation for the two exams. This will help you assign a specific time to each subject and help you prepare thoroughly.
General Tips:
- Make a time table and follow it thoroughly to ace the exam.
- Improve your time management and speed by giving mock tests.
- Focus on the English portion of BITSAT as it is very scoring.
- Solve several online mock tests for practice.
- Create a strong foundation for all concepts and subjects.
- Focus on reliable and quality textbooks and sources for your preparation.
- Practice test series and previous year questions.
- Focus on NCERT books, they are the best sources of information.
- Make notes for all the subjects.
- Revise all the subjects thoroughly.

Is there an option to leave two subjects in JNTUH?
Yes,JNTUH has an option of leaving 2 subjects. But that does not mean you don’t have to appear for the exams in these subjects. It’s just that these two subjects are spared from being included in the final grade calculation.
So you have to study all the subjects and appear for their respective exams. Ultimately when the result of your final semester exams is out, you can leave two subjects in which you have backlogs. For this, you will have to fill out the form beforehand. Also, this is subject to certain conditions such as
- These 2 subjects should be non-technical
- The credit value of these 2 subjects should be equivalent to 8.
In such case case, you don’t have a single back, then non-technical subjects having the least value are removed automatically. The final percentage is calculated after removing these subjects only.
Is there direct admission in KIIT?
If you haven’t appeared for KIITEE and want to get direct admission to KIIT, you will have to choose one of the 2 ways mentioned below
- Either visit the admission department located on campus and talk about direct admission. They call it management quota and the fees charged for the same is higher than regular admission. For CSE it’s the highest and its in decreasing order for the rest of the branches
- If you have a good JEE Main rank or 12th score, then they will consider your admission with donations.
These are the only 2 ways I am aware of to seek direct admission to KIIT.
At what rank can one get admission to IISC Bangalore?
Being a GE candidate makes every option exponentially harder. Here are some of the exams with their cutoffs (probable) to secure admission to IISc Bangalore for your UG program-
- KVPY SA and SX- The cut-off varies from year to year and depends on the difficulty level of the examination. It lies around the rank which secures a total of 65 marks.
- JEE Mains- Because of IISc’s increasing popularity and demand, a score above 325/360 will be good enough. This means a rank in the Top 10 (by marks solely in JEE Mains exam and not taking into account Board Normalization) will secure your admission into IISc Bangalore.
Ultimately though, the JEE Mains cutoff depends on the number of remaining seats after the KVPY admissions have been processed and verified.
- JEE Advanced- A rank within the Top 20 will be good enough. Ultimately, it depends on the number of vacant seats after the 1st and 2nd rounds of KVPY counseling.
These are the probable marks & ranks in various exams that are required for your admission into IISc Bangalore.
Also, prepare well if you are called for an interview. The UG program at IISER Pune, Kolkata, and Mohali are at par with the ones offered at IISc Bangalore. IISc Bangalore, however, has years of research experience behind it.
