How is KIIT BBSR?

Sayantani Barman Posted On : July 26th, 2023

I am a third year student at KIIT. Till now, my experience has been great. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time over here and made some great friends.

KIIT is a good institution with great facilities. It is, however, a little on the expensive side. The students are not pressurized unnecessarily in the name of studies, which is a good thing. The campus life is also great over here.

A lot of companies visit the campus. Some years ago, some big IT companies did not visit the campus for placements. The institution compensated by bringing in startups and even, surprisingly, some BPOs.

Apart from studies, the students of KIIT make use of opportunities to go for various extracurriculars and indulge in hobbies that they couldn’t practice before due to family pressure or other circumstances. Many students even decide to pursue their passion.

Alumni of KIIT like Amandeep Khayal (Amandeep Singh) and Kartik Bhagat decided to choose their passion over Engineering.

Bhubaneswar as a city does not offer much to the youth. However, KIIT is a good institution and you will spend some of the best years of your life over here.

In AFMC Pune, what is the schedule for MBBS students? What time do they get up, when do the lectures start, when is dinner? What is the routine there?

Sayantani Barman Posted On : October 3rd, 2023

The schedule is quite busy, especially for final year cadets. But if you learn time management during your faccha term, you’ll manage everything with grace.

All the batches have two theory classes from 8 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by clinics ( during the first year, you’ll have practicals instead). 10:30 AM -11:00 AM is break time. Clinical Postings take place between 11 to 12:50 PM. You will have to reach the Command Hospital (CH) for clinical postings.

After Lunch, you’ll have DH/practicals/tutorials between 2-4 pm. You’ll get free by 4 pm. But on Wednesdays and Saturdays, no academic sessions are held post lunch. Between 5 - 8 PM, you can go swimming, to the gym, to the library, etc. During the final year, you’ll have evening clinics between 6-8 PM. You can visit the reading room to study at night. On Fridays, you’ll get to watch a movie in the Dhanvantari Auditorium.

This is the basic routine of a cadet at AFMC Pune. Also, there is a requirement of 75%+ attendance in theory classes, and 80%+ attendance in clinical postings.

VNIT, Graduated 2019

VNIT Nagpur is a well known engineering college of India, with good infrastructure and placements. The Computer Science department is one of the best in the college.

The placements are good, but it mostly depends on your skillset. The highest package goes beyond 16 LPA. Most of the faculty members are Phd. holders, and have studied from prestigious institutes like University of Baltimore and University of Missouri. Having had a rich academic background, the teachers will offer you with valuable insights on this field. The average package touches 7 LPA and beyond, and companies like Morgan Stanley and Ittiam Systems hire students from the CSE department.

BHU LLB Course is better than most Indian Colleges. Some of its salient features are:

  • Fee is higher than the 3-year course

  • Tough competition as limited seats are available

  • It’s a self-financed course

  • Ranked amongst the 8-10 Law Colleges of India

  • The amenities at BHU- Infrastructure, Faculty, Exposure, Security all add to its wonderful experience

Placements-

The placements at BHU are above average. You might get to work in law firms, practicing in courts under a senior lawyer. Other corporate sectors or legal advisory jobs are also available. Many BHU students also prefer pursuing Judiciary.

If unluckily I would get less than 60% in 12 boards but I have already got EEE branch in KIIT during KIIT Counselling, then will I get admission there?

A
Admin Posted On : February 15th, 2024

You’ll get an admission at KIIT. You don’t need to worry on that front. But the main issue is regarding placements. Most IT and core companies have an eligibility requirement of 60% or more in 10th and 12th boards. Though some companies don’t have a strict minimum requirement.

But the point is, if you want to sit for a good number of companies during placements, you’ll need at least 60% in your 12th boards. This does not apply only to KIIT, but every university/college.

Is KMC Manipal a decent choice? Would you say the same if you weren't studying there?

Namrata Das Posted On : September 30th, 2023

Even though I couldn’t get into KMC Manipal, it is my dream college.

It doesn’t offer a state quota for admissions. You have to apply through AIQ. The course fee is quite high. However, you’ll get a scholarship if your AIR is less than 2000.

The infrastructure of KMC Manipal is quite good. Karnataka is a peaceful state, so the location is good as well. It is a top private medical college in India, after CMC Vellore. The college library is huge and filled with all the facilities. The hostels and classrooms are in good condition, and your fee will be totally worth it.

You should definitely consider KMC Manipal for your MBBS.

Is Manipal Institute of Technology a good college for CSE? Where is its main campus?

MS
Medha Sinha Posted On : September 8th, 2023
Studied at Manipal University

Here are some highlights about the CSE department at Manipal Institute of Technology-

  • Faculty- The faculty for CSE is not good, barring 3 or 4 teachers. The teaching quality isn’t up to the mark. For this reason, you’ll find the classes boring.
  • Placements- The placements are good. Almost 60% of companies visiting the campus offer jobs mainly to CSE students. Many companies even offer seven digit packages to this branch. Microsoft, Amazon and Oracle are some IT companies that offer placements to CSE students every year.
  • Extracurriculars- You will get to participate in Hackathons and other competitions at the MIT campus. IE-CSE is the CSE club of this institute. It organizes workshops in which you can participate and enhance your skills.
  • Facilities- CSE department has well equipped labs. MIT offers a good exposure to all its students.
  • Crowd and Campus Life- You’ll meet people from different cultural backgrounds at MIT. The crowd is great and you’ll really enjoy your campus life over here.

The Main Campus of MIT is located in Manipal, as the name suggests. Manipal is a small university town in Karnataka, located 10 minutes away from Udupi. Around 25 institutes are located here. The nearest railway station to MIT is Udupi Railway Station (situated 10 minutes away from Manipal). The nearest metro station is located in Bangalore (an overnight / 8 hour bus ride from Manipal). The nearest Airport is in Mangalore (a 1 hour 15 minutes drive from the campus).

Thus, the CSE program at MIT is a good option.

How tough is securing above 9.0 CGPA at IIT Kharagpur?

SG
Senjuti Gupta Posted On : March 22nd, 2023
studied at IIT Kgp

I wouldn’t say that securing an above 9.0 CGPA at IIT Kharagpur is very tough. With the right motivation, even an average student can get a 9+ CGPA. When it comes to grading, IIT KGP has two methods

  • Relative Grading: Under this, professors are required to give a 9+ CGPA to 25% of the batch which comprises roughly 100 students. Now it’s up to the professor to decide who is worthy of such high grades. While some professors give a 10 CGPA to only the deserving students, many professors casually grade the students without much thought.
  • Absolute Grading: This is a rather rigid grading system wherein grading is done on the basis of cumulative marks. Students scoring 90–100 get a 10 while those 80–90 get a 9 and so on. The upper and lower limits are not fixed and the cutoff is decided by the professor itself. This grading system is usually followed in the Maths Department.

So we can conclude that getting a 9+ CGPA becomes a lot easier if you have no other distractions such as research or social work and you have been attending classes regularly.

Lastly, I would like to say that CGPA is not the only deciding factor. There are many students with a decent CGPA of 8+ who have made decent accomplishments and done high-level research or wonders in startups. The main agenda is to gain maximum exposure and then plan your future.
