When faced with a similar situation different people make different choices. There is no right choice as it’s a matter of personal preference. IIT Indore CSE and BITS Pilani EEE are both lucrative options and thus only your personal choices can determine the right one. 

There are some who wish to grab the IIT tag and want to take CS because the branch is a major crowd-puller. While some want to experience the brand and prestige of the old BITS Pilani. 

I would suggest you go for IIT Indore as the small batch size has its own benefits and moreover, IIT Indore has been growing quickly and seems to give more promising results in the future. The small batch size gives the vibe of a small family and you will love the bond here. BITS Pilani on the other hand has its own aura with Meritocracy as the mantra but its high fees are a major issue. 

Both the institutes are equally good and choosing one of the other wouldn’t be a regretful decision.

For every Engineering aspirant, choosing the branch is the most crucial task as it is an important step in shaping your career. I suggest you take your inclinations into consideration. No doubt, it’s difficult to identify your interests right after class 12th.

CSE in IIT Mandi

• It’s almost been 14 years since the establishment of IIT Mandi and since then it has developed a lot.
• IIT Mandi has a great faculty base with the Director himself from a CSE background.
• IIT Mandi’s unique curriculum helps one to learn a lot of interdisciplinary subjects even more than other IITs apart from your core courses. This imparts interdisciplinary knowledge to the students.
• Coding culture is improving exponentially. The increasing rate of GoSC selections is a testament to the same.
• Placements are excellent with IIT Mandi's highest package standing at INR 60 LPA & IIT Mandi's average package recorded at INR 25.23 LPA.
• The placement season witnesses a mix of both domestic and international offers. Recruiters like Flipkart, 1mg, Microsoft, Uber, Amazon, Walmart, etc participated in the placement drive this year.

The best way would be to do extensive research about both colleges, make a list of things that you are looking for in your B.Tech program, prioritize and quantify them and then take the final decision.

Between NIT Calicut and BITS Hyderabad, the latter is the better option irrespective of the branch you are getting. Here are a few points of difference between the two institutes. 

• BITS Hyderabad EEE placements are great and students get placed in core electronics companies such as NVIDIA, National Instruments, Texas Instruments, MediaTek, etc while NIT Calicut has very few core companies and students are usually placed in IT companies.
• BITS Hyderabad charges very high fees whereas NIT Calicut charges average fees. 
• BITS Hyderabad offers a better exposure and research culture in comparison to NIT Calicut.
• BITS Hyderabad has an excellent faculty pool and the labs are equipped with modern instruments much better than NIT Calicut.

In my opinion, BITS Hyderabad should be your preference provided that you have no monetary issues.

In my opinion, CSE in IIT Hyderabad is the best option amongst the aforementioned institutes. EEE in BITS Pilani is not a good option unless you are interested in core Electronics. This is because the future is CS-oriented and everyone is out there trying to secure lucrative job opportunities in the same. I wouldn’t suggest you target a branch change from EEE to CS in Pilani as for that you will require a very high CGPA as high as 9.7 which is very very tough to get.

Speaking of BITS Goa, it is known for its amazing new coding culture and no compulsory attendance policy. However, nothing can match the brand value of IIT.

IIT Hyderabad focuses primarily on AI and ML which is very beneficial for your future.

Thus it can be concluded that IIT Hyderabad is a better option for you.

Institute-wise, BITS Pilani is much better than IIT Mandi. But branch-wise, both CSE and EEE are equally good with CSE at a slighter advantage. 

From this, we can infer that BITS Pilani EEE is a better choice. The placement scenario of both the branches is the same and that’s when the institute's credibility comes into play. 

Many top firms recruit only from old IITs and BITS Pilani and new IITs are not even considered by these top companies. There is a stark contrast between placement scenarios of old and new IITs in terms of the package and roles offered.

I feel students are initially unaware of their actual interests and so it’s better to target a better college than a better branch. BITS Pilani EE fulfills all the criteria and offers a plethora of placement options that might not be available in new IITs like IIT Mandi.

As far as the IIT tag is concerned, the increasing number of new IITs has diluted its brand value. The IIT tag brand value rests with the old IITs only and the new IITs are not that respected. Companies prefer students from institutes like BITS Pilani or IIIT Hyderabad rather than new IITs.
