It all depends on your personal preferences and what appeals to you the most. However, if none of these two branches piques your attention, then definitely mechanical engineering in PEC is the way to go.

It would be advised that mechanical is always a better choice than aerospace. You can choose to go for Mechanical engineering without giving it much thought and discussion.
You can join the aerospace engineering program if you have a passion for this course. I know a few people who pursued Aerospace Engineering from Jain University and they had a good experience.
The course is offered by the International Institute for Aerospace Engineering and Management (IIAEM), a collaboration between Jain (Deemed-to-be University) and the Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies & Industries (SIATI).
The course includes subjects which require good labs and other facilities. Jain University will definitely provide you with that. So, yes Jain University will definitely help you in many regards.
But choose the course only if you are passionate about it.
The Department of Aerospace was started in Karunya University with the primary objective to produce aerospace engineers for meeting the ever-growing demand for engineers for serving the sectors that are civil aeronautical and defense-oriented. At the same time, the department also aims to employ part of its staff in the expansion of space R&D as the demand for space applications in communication, strategic applications, remote sensing, etc is increasing.
The technologists and entrepreneurs of Karunya University are in much demand by the aircraft design and manufacture as there is still a lack of a viable civilian aircraft and industry sector in the country. A large part of the business still goes out to foreign launch operations despite the presence of large communication satellites that are launched into synchronous orbits.
The experimental facilities at Karunya University have been set up not only to teach but also to evolve as tools of research and consultancy. The specifications of the facilities have been laid out with their eventual research application. You will have to perform testing and generation of data for real-life applications in aircraft, spacecraft, and rockets as opposed to cases that are idealized in the UG curriculum.
Jain University has been ranked 85th in India by NIRF. The university offers B.Tech and B.Tech Lateral Entry Aerospace programs. Admission is done through Jain Entrance Test or Uni-GAUGE whereas for lateral entry, one can get enroll through merit.
Eligibility:
The applicant should have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks and Physics, Mathematics compulsory subjects in order to be eligible.
For BTech Lateral Entry, the applicant must have a Diploma with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for the general category and 45% for the reserved category.
Placement:
More than 250 recruiters visited the campus for recruitment.
The highest pay package offered was INR 30 LPA and the average package offered was INR 7 LPA.
The top players include Panasonic Homes, Honeywell, JK Technosoft, Tommy Hilfiger, Morgan Stanley, TCS, and Capgemini.
For the academic year 2018-2019, 94.9% of students were placed in Engineering and Technology
Facility:
The library has a huge collection of more than 30,000 books, DVDs, CDs, and Journals. The library also has 120+ national and international periodicals.
The other facilities available at the campus are an auditorium, seminar hall, hostel, gymnasium, and cafeteria.
Scholarship:
The university offers numerous scholarships for B.Tech Engineering and Technology.
Defense and Police Scholarship
Sports Scholarship
7 Sister Scholarship (For students from Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Nagaland)
To be eligible for these scholarships, one must fulfill the following eligibility requirements:
Above 9.5 CGPA
CET/COMEDK/JEE Mains Qualified.
Moreover, the Department of Aerospace Engineering has a dedicated group of highly qualified and experienced faculty.
IIT Bhubaneswar ECE is a better choice among these. It offers better placements. IIT Bhubaneswar placements 2022 had witnessed an average CTC of INR 22.40 LPA for ECE. 100% of students got placed from the branch. The highest CTC offered was INR 44.10 LPA.
Aerospace Engineering is a niche field. The career prospect in Aerospace is limited. Choose IIT KGP, only if you are passionate about the field and want to pursue higher studies.
M.Tech from IIT Bhubaneswar makes sense only if you are willing to study more on research-based topics of the subject. It is best if one is looking for a career in Teaching, Researching, etc. to further gain knowledge about the subject and not work in MNCs.
IIT Hyderabad ranks 8th in the Engineering category by NIRF 2020. The number of students who got placed from the Chemical Engineering department in the 2019 placements was 26. The average salary package offered to students with Chemical Engineering is 15 lakhs per annum.
IIST is a space institute under the Department of Space. The students from IIST are recruited as scientists and engineers in the Department of Space facilities and Indian Space Research Organization centers all over India. They receive a starting salary of 10 lakhs per annum. Facilities like Infrastructure, Library, sports facilities, Computer labs, clinics, Data centers in IIST are much better and well equipped than the IITs.
Thus it is your choice to opt for what course you are interested in.
Aerospace Engineering is a new branch of RV College of Engineering. The department has good faculties. The placement record of the branch is average. According to the recent highlights of RV College of Engineering, students receive an average CTC of around INR 6 LPA. Textron, Boeing, Airbus, etc. are some of the major recruiters for Aerospace.
If you want a career in Aerospace, it’s better to go to foreign universities. India lacks infrastructure for the development of its own Aerospace industry.
One should judge not only the merits of the branch chosen in the university but the university as a whole to make a sound conclusion.
Overall, the university offers adequate resources and facilities to gain practical knowledge in your chosen branch, the success rate of placement will depend more on the merit of the student.
No, it is not a suitable option for B.tech in aeronautical engineering. A friend of mine has studied there and notified me about its drawbacks. He strongly suggested me not to take admissions to that college
If one is keen on pursuing B.tech in aeronautical engineering then it would be advisable to look at any of the IITs, NITs, or the other top 20 colleges.
Let's take a look at the factual table to get a better understanding of the situation –
Placement rate for Aeronautical Engineering branch (2020) |
0% |
Placement rate for other engineering branches (non-core) (2020) |
65%-70% |
Average package salary (2020) |

Needs improvement; Modifications required in terms of the current requirement of this field. |
Therefore, keeping the above discussions in mind Malla Reddy College is not favorable for pursuing B.tech in aeronautical engineering. One should concentrate on getting admitted to either IITs or NITs, even if one has to wait and prepare for a year or more.
Whether aerospace at IIT Madras is better or ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar is better this choice solely depends on your career goals, subject choices, and preference.
