Which should I take for engineering - physics at DTU or electronics and communication at IIIT Una?
Both of the colleges have their own specialties. It depends on your purpose for doing any of the mentioned courses. One of my friends graduated from DTU and he mentioned a few points about the same which may be helpful for you-
- If your focus is on taking a decent job after graduation or earning money, opt for other options than physics.
- But if you have your interest in the field of research in physics or you want to do your higher studies in the field of physics, then go for Engineering in Physics.
- My friend from the physics branch in DTU straight away mentioned that the physics department in DTU doesn’t have decent placement opportunities, be it the on-campus placement or off-campus placement.
- ECE being a practical-oriented subject has a lot of demand in the industry.
- Also after graduating with ECE, you can sit for placements of both core companies and IT firms. Thus there will be a lot of job opportunities.
- Half of the students who have enrolled themselves on the physics branch were misled and the other half was too sure and passionate about this branch.
- Whereas, ECE at IIIT UNA can provide you with a good job right after you graduate.

- IIIT Una has a highly qualified faculty team, consisting of professors and researchers from renowned institutions in India and abroad.
- Placements at IIIT Una are decent, with top companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and Wipro visiting the campus every year to recruit students.
- The institute has research collaborations with various organizations and industries, providing ample research opportunities for students.
Both IIIT Bhopal and IIIT Una are reputed institutions, and choosing between them depends on your personal preferences, such as location, infrastructure, and research opportunities.
Which is better for CSE, IIIT Vadodara, or IIIT Una (in the NIT Hamirpur campus)?
One of my friends graduated from IIIT Vadodara, I would suggest you go for IIIT Vadodara. Here are some reasons as to why this is my option:
- It has a very good Coding Culture and exciting fests since the beginning.
- Students have got a lot of success in competitions like GSOC and have many GCI Mentors as well.
- There are the newly started Developer Students Club (DSC) and CodeChef Campus Chapter(CCC) too, and also Summer of Learning(SoL). The coding Culture here is a lot better than in many other Colleges.
- The faculty is well qualified and highly experienced.
- IIITV is getting better in Placements year by year with great offers.

The only drawback at IIIT Vadodara is that there is no permanent campus, which will be built soon. Also, the 32km distance between campus and hostel is tiring.
Is IIIT Una better than Thapar Institute Patiala?
Thapar institute has been established way before IIIT Una and over this period of time has created a great alumni network working at different positions worldwide. The faculty in Thapar Currently has over 20+ years of experience and is well known among the students.
On the other hand, IIIT Una is a newly established IIIT and the problem with this is that it still does not even have its own campus. IIIT Una is operating under NIT Hamirpur; this leads to the problem of no classes to fit all these students of both different Universities together. The classes get clashed, labs are not enough and faculty has a hard time coping up. This creates chaos on campus, which results in lower placement.

So, going by all these factors, it is safe to say IIIT Una is not better than Thapar.
Which is better, IIIT Una IT or IET Lucknow IT?
Among IIIT Una and IET Lucknow, IT at IET Lucknow can be considered a better choice, mostly due to the reason of connectivity. There are several aspects that prefer an institute over the other in this case, some of which are listed below to help students make a decision.
- IET Lucknow is a much more established and well-known college among the two and is also top-notch in terms of infrastructure and facilities. It is one of the best institutes in Uttar Pradesh too.
- One prime disadvantage of IIIT Una is that it does not have a permanent campus to date. The classes and labs are held at the campus of NIT Hamirpur.
- Although the weather of Harimpur is much more soothing than that of Lucknow, the bad connectivity of Harimpur creates a lot of problems for students. For students of other states, it will take at least a day to reach home from the hostel of NIT Hamirpur.
- In terms of education and placement, both the institutes are almost at the same level.
IET Lucknow is preferred over the other for most students. If you want to experience the weather and scenery of Himachal Pradesh, IIIT Una is a good place.
Is a scholarship given in IIIT Una to the general category on the basis of family income?
One of my friends is a part of the institute and can put it in a better way. You might have been confused between the scholarship provided by the institute and the state scholarship.
He however has less information about states other than Uttar Pradesh, and for learning more about it, you should visit the main webpage of the institute and have the latest information.
There is a provision of an online scholarship portal for residents of Uttar Pradesh who are at present pursuing their courses outside the state. You can register on the portal typically by filing certain crucial details, your family income certificate and other essential documents as and when asked, in the IIIT Una administration, along with the printed form.

Which is better, a COE at Thapar or a CSE at IIIT, Una? Does IIT Una come under NIT Hamirpur?
Currently, IIIT Una facilitates education through two temporary campuses of Dev Bhumy Group of Institutes, Himachal Pradesh and the NIT campus at Hamirpur, the main campus is still under construction and the placement is average.
The first batch of IIIT Una passed in 2018, with an average salary of INR 3-4 LPA and highest salary of INR 10-12 LPA. In 2020, 90% students were placed and the average salary increased to 8 LPA and the highest to 16 LPA, hence it is being assumed that these statistics will improve in the upcoming years to reach the level of performance of NIT Hamirpur.
For now, you'd like to know these -
- NIT Hamirpur has been ranked #98 by NIRF and Thapar ranks #29 on the same.
- As IIIT Una is working under the aegis of NIT Hamirpur, the institute receives the same companies for placement as does NIT Hamirpur. This year, names like Infosys, Reliance and IBM graced the campus and the highest package offered was INR 62 LPA.
- For COE, Thapar University students receive an average salary of INR 6-7 LPA.
It is difficult to assume anything in the case of IIIT Una, it has improved from the 2018 statistics, but it cannot be said how successful it'll be in four years' time. Whereas Thapar University is developing well as far as placements are concerned, in 2020 the highest package offered to Thapar University students was INR 39 LPA and 990+ companies made offers to them.
Which is better: CSE at IIIT Una or UIET Chandigarh?
My sister studies in UIET Chandigarh, and it's an excellent institution both spatially and academically. Chandigarh is going to be one of the most flourishing IT cities in India - which enhances the scope for those students who wish to pursue a career in the field of computer science.
You may also want to focus on these when comparing both-
- Tuition Fee- It has an affordable tuition fee if you compare it with IIIT UNA. You'll have to pay INR 82,000 as one year's tuition fee for the BE program at UIET Chandigarh; you'd have to pay INR 1.02 lakhs per semester for the B.Tech program at IIIT UNA.
- Faculty- IIIT UNA has 17 members for the CSE department, and all of them are guest faculty members. UIET also has 10-15 teachers who are very motivating.
- Study Environment- You'd feel a healthy level of competition in the CSE department because there'd be all-rounders and achievers in the class to motivate you to develop.

Apart from this, the facilities at UIET Chandigarh are quite good if you're interested in sports, then you can join a sports club at the Punjab University and get professional guidance through a coach. Chandigarh itself is a city full of good recreational spots, you can also join different creativity clubs as well.
