Which college is better for an M.Tech in electronics and communication, IIT Bhubaneswar or IIIT Bangalore?

Neerendra Singh Posted On : August 14th, 2020

Both, IIT Bhubaneswar and IIIT Bangalore offer decent M.Tech in electronics and communication programs and provide good placement so it’s difficult to choose one institute over the other. Given below are a few factors which the students are required to consider before selecting between the two colleges:-

  • Placement:In terms of placement, the average CTC of IIT Bhubaneswar stands out to be 11.5 lakhs/annum. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Oracle, IBM, etc visit the IIT Bhubaneswar campus for placement drive. Few well-known PSU named ISRO, IOCL, and ONGC were also part of the placement in 2019. Apart from the offered jobs, the final year students are offered internships with a good amount of pay. Highest CTC touched approx 39 lakhs/annum. In 2019 from the electronics and communication field almost 86% of students got a decent placement from the campus.

IIT Bangalore showed remarkable progress by having 100% placement in 2019. Top recruiters were Accenture, McAfee, Tyfon, KayBus, etc. The average placement package was around 17.5 lakh/annum while the highest CTC was around 54 LPA.

  • Eligibility:In IIT Bhubaneswar to get admission in MTech, a minimum of 60% marks are required in the Graduation level, and the cutoff score in the GATE exam (70% weightage), candidates are also required to go through a written test and interview (30% weightage).

IIT Bangalore does not conduct any entrance test for the M.Tech course. The GATE result or JEE result is only considered for selection. The students are shortlisted on merit-basis. The graduation level % is also considered for the shortlisted students.

  • Faculty:Professors of both places are quite helpful. Both the colleges maintain a high standard in selecting their faculty.
  • Campus:The infrastructure of IIT Bhubaneswar is expanding and improving over time. The Infrastructure of IIT Bangalore is good and if we compare it to IIT Bhubaneswar, both are up to the mark.

Which is better, IIEST Shibpur or IIIT Bangalore?

PG
Pratik Gandhi Posted On : March 31st, 2023
B.Tech. CSE, IIT Bombay

If you're considering your options for higher education, it's important to do your research and choose a college that will provide you with a quality education and a strong foundation for your future career. While IIIT Bangalore is a well-respected institution that has established a strong reputation for academic excellence and innovation, IIEST Shibpur is a college that may not be as widely recognized outside of West Bengal.

It's worth noting that the quality of education and opportunities available at a college can vary widely, regardless of its reputation. While some students at IIEST Shibpur may excel academically and go on to successful careers, there may be others who struggle to find meaningful employment or face challenges in their professional development.

One issue that some people have raised with IIEST Shibpur is the prevalence of spamming and promotion within the student body. While students need to advocate for their institution and promote its strengths, this should never come at the expense of the learning environment or the overall reputation of the college. In some cases, aggressive promotion and spamming can harm the college's brand and make it more difficult for students to succeed.

It's also worth noting that the "brand value" of a college isn't always the most important factor in choosing where to study. Instead, you should consider a range of factors, including the quality of the faculty, the resources and opportunities available to students, and the overall learning environment.

In the end, the decision of where to study is a deeply personal one that will depend on your unique needs, goals, and preferences. While IIIT Bangalore may be a strong choice for some students, others may find that IIEST Shibpur offers the right combination of opportunities and resources to help them succeed. Ultimately, it's up to you to do your research, consider your options carefully, and make the decision that will set you on the path to a successful and fulfilling career.

Which option is better - IIT Bhubaneswar for ECE, IIT Dhanbad for ECE, IIT Patna for EEE, or IIIT Bangalore for CSE?

PS
Preeti Sood Posted On : August 14th, 2020
MBA from DoMS IIT Roorkee (2018)

IIT Bhubaneswar ECE department had 86% placement in the year 2019. Students were offered a salary package of 8-11 lakhs per annum.

IIT Dhanbad ECE department has not seen better results in placement like IIT Bhubaneswar, as there was 60% placement from ECE in 2019. IIT Dhanbad is more popular for Mining Engineering with a placement percentage of 91%. ECE is IIT Dhanbad may not be a good choice.

IIT Patna ranks 26th in the Engineering category by NIRF 2020. It has seen the placement in the EEE department by more than half the number of students. Among 42 students 27 were placed from the EEE department with an average salary package of 11 lakhs per annum. Top recruiting companies included Samsung, Hewlett Packard, Intel, Mediatek, etc.

IIIT Bangalore is a Private institute and receives 100% placement. It offers internships as well as full-time employment. IIIT Bangalore has an MTech program and a dual degree program in CSE. The average salary package in 2018 was 17 lakhs per annum which is comparable with the older IITs.

All these institutions have their own pros and cons, so it’s difficult to determine which is the best choice.

How good are IIIT Bangalore and Allahabad compared to IIIT Hyderabad?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : March 21st, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

When it comes to IIITs, IIIT Hyderabad is by far the BEST. IIIT Bangalore is good as well and has some good faculty, but it doesn't have the fire brand in CS that IIIT Hyderabad does. If you're looking for an advantage, IIIT B is located in Bangalore, but then again, IIIT H is located in Hyderabad, so it's not as good as IIIT H.

IIIT D and IIIT A are both government-run and have a 50% reservation. This puts them behind the above mentioned colleges. IIIT D has better faculty and is located in Delhi, which gives it a certain location advantage. However, IIIT A is an older institute. Both places are filled with Delhiwalas and UP bhai log, which doesn't help them either.

If you're a North Indian, you might like IIIT A/D more than IIIT B, and vice versa. However, almost all Indians like Hyderabad as a city. The majority of people in Hyderabad are friendly and know Hindi, so North Indians find it easier to adjust. At the same time, Hyderabad people are not language chauvinists like other South Indians (read Tamilians and Kannadigas), so that also helps. Plus, if you're a South Indian, you will easily adjust to Hyderabad since it still has a Southern Vibe to it.

In short, IIIT H is the best among the above depending on faculty/location/college life and the general atmosphere. If you're not getting IIIT H, you could try for the Top NITs (only Trichy, Warangal, and Surathkal) and then your famous state colleges like NSIT/DTU for Delhiites, Anna for Tamilians, Jadavpur for Bengalis, COEP for Marathis, etc., JNTU, etc.

Which is better, CSE at IIITB or at IIT Bhubaneswar?

SG
Swapura Ghose Posted On : August 14th, 2020
Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar (2020)

One of the primary differences between the two institutes is the IIT tag. Before selecting any of the engineering institute the factors which should be taken care of are, the best faculties, a strong research area, strong alumni relations, and a supportive technical environment. So, IIT Bhubaneshwar provides the student with all these facilities, as the professors visit here from all over the world.

Many students are progressing their research here from big institutions like IISC, IIT Mumbai including some of the foreign universities namely Stanford University, Korean, and Shanghai University. Moreover in IIT Bhubaneswar, one more thing that adds a plus point is various CSE related clubs/societies namely Neuromensor and Web & Design Society. In these clubs, students are not only provided with the best faculty manage but also develop healthy competitiveness between the students.

The alumni network is one of the key factors for the development of graduates in the institution. IIT Bhubaneshwar has a very strong network with its alumni. Many alumni are working in big technical companies all over the world besides helping financially for the new startups. So, these are the reasons why to choose IIT Bhubaneshwar over IIITB.

Which engineering institute is better, IIT Delhi or IIIT Bangalore?

AR
Anirudh Roychowdhuri Posted On : April 10th, 2023
IMTech from International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (2020)

IIIT Bangalore is not even close to IIT Delhi in terms of legacy and brand name.

  • IIT Delhi has the best cultural and tech fests that provide tremendous opportunities to explore your area of interest whereas at IIIT Bangalore there is little emphasis on extracurricular activities.
  • The alumni base of IIT Delhi is much more elaborate and strong than IIIT Bangalore.
  • IIT Delhi in itself is a brand nationally and globally and attracts the best talents of the country giving you a diverse peer group.
  • The average packages of IIIT Bangalore are made up of placements of only 2 branches CSE and ECE which already are highly paid branches. Its average package is misleading. IIT Delhi, on the other hand, has a wide variety of branches so its average package might seem less but in reality, its CS packages are higher than IIIT Bangalore.

There is only one scenario under which I will recommend you not to go for IIT Delhi when you are interested in CS but could get only Textile. In this case, you can always go for an old IIT.

I don’t mean to undermine IIIT Bangalore but it should be your last option.
