Which is better, MANIT Bhopal or NIT Kurukshetra, preferably branch-wise and for the placement scenario?
MANIT Bhopal and NIT Kurukshetra are both renowned engineering colleges, and have their own strengths and weaknesses.
As far as placements are concerned, here are the details of 2022 B.Tech placements at both of them-

Both the colleges offer decent placement opportunities in various B.Tech courses. As far as the branch-wise curriculum, faculty, etc. are concerned, you should consult seniors from both these colleges to get a clearer picture.
Try to find the branch of your interest,and then research on which of the two is a better option for that particular field.
Which among IIIT jabalpur CSE, NIT Jamshedpur ECE, Kurukshetra ECE, NIT Raipur CSE, NIT Hamirpur ECE, NIT Jalandhar CSE colleges is best ?
The choice of the branch is more important than choosing the institute because it determines and shapes your career. If you are interested in working in a PSU or have an interest in Electronics, choose ECE but if you have no such inclinations choose CS, the most diverse field. There are two main differences between IIITs and NITs
- IIITs are relatively new and may not have a very extensive alumni network while NITs are aged old and have an elaborate network.
- NITs provide diverse specialization in various fields while IIITs only focus on Computer Science education.
Based on the placement scenario and the academics, here is the preference order I would suggest you follow while making your choice
NIT Jalandhar CSE>IIIT Jabalpur CSE>NIT Raipur CSE>NIT Kurukshetra ECE>NIT Hamirpur ECE> NIT Jamshedpur ECE
It's important to note that this preference order is not based on any official data and is based on my own opinion only.
Which is better, NIT Kurukshetra or NIT Hamirpur?
I have a few friends in both institutes and from what I heard from them, NIT Kurukshetra is much better than NIT Hamirpur. Here are some obvious reasons for the same
- Placements: NIT Kurukshetra's placement scenario is better than NIT Hamirpur's. Last year, its average package and highest package stood at INR 13.89 LPA and INR 1.25 CPA respectively while NIT Hamirpur's average package and highest package in 2023 stood at INR 12.83 LPA and INR 52 LPA respectively.
- Alumni : NIT Kurukshetra has a better and stronger alumni network than NIT Hamirpur. Some of the noticeable alumni that hold high positions are R. K. Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, WAPCOS, Rajeev Kapoor, CEO, of Fiat India Automobile Private, and P. K. Munjal, MD, Hero Honda.
- Location: NIT Kurukshetra has more location advantages as it’s near both Chandigarh as well as Delhi. Students thereby have access to coaching institutes where they can prepare for competitive exams.
- Faculty: The faculty pool is more or less the same in both institutes.
- Rankings: NIT Hamirpur is ranked 23 for B.Arch and 99 for Engineering by the NIRF 2021 rankings while NIT Kurukshetra B.Tech ranking by NIRF is 58 out of 200 colleges in 2023 and it was 50 out of 300 colleges in 2022
- City: NIT Hamirpur is a far more beautiful city than Kurukshe and also has more places to explore than Kurukshetra.
- Infrastructure : Both buildings have been designed beautifully and have beautiful campuses. NIT Hamirpur has slightly better infrastructure than NIT Kurukshetra.
- Food: NIT Hamirpur has more options for non-veg than NIT Kurukshetra where mainly veg cuisine is served.
Based on the above points, you can decide which ones are the best for you!
How's the electrical department at NIT Kurukshetra?
NIT Kurukshetra is renowned for its electrical department. Let us examine each feature of the institute closely
- Faculty – All types of faculties are present in this department. Some of them are not interested in teaching and somehow manage to finish the portions, while others are highly dedicated and put much effort into their job, and their classes are worth the exams as well.
- Infrastructure – The infrastructure is not up to par, and the construction works are progressing. The classroom temperature is very high during the summer days, but the newly built LHC is spacious and comfortable to attend classes in.
- Extra-curricular Activities – The electrical department club is named Electroreck, which is highly active and conducts festivals and other activities.

Overall, NIT Kurukshetra has a good electrical department compared to other institutes.
Should I go for electrical engineering at NIT Kurukshetra?
NIT Kurukshetra is a good college which gives you the freedom to explore and develop your personality.
If you are interested in the electrical branch, NIT Kurukshetra is a good option. But I must warn you that you’ll find yourself busier than the students of other branches. This is because electrical students have to make a lot of practical files.
The faculty for EE is helpful and supportive. The placements are also decent. The package range was INR 4.00 LPA - INR 1.25 CPA, the median package was INR 7.90 LPA, and the average package was INR 12.37 LPA for the electrical branch, during 2022 placements.
NIT Kurukshetra is a nurturing place but ultimately the hard work and effort is all expected from you. No one will push you to get out of your comfort zone, that’ll be your task.
How is NIT Kurukshetra for girls?
One of my female friends is a student at NIT Kurukshetra. She realized that the world is a patriarchal society. The rules and regulations at NIT Kurukshetra too seemed to agree with this. The girls have to follow a strict hostel time of around 7 PM in winter and 8 30 in summer. For the boys, the same time is 10 pm. Also, they don't have to fill out a form every time they want to go out. Girls are not even allowed to roam freely late at night or access the 24/7 CCN, the library, or other things boys have access to.
Girls are not allowed to order food after 10 p.m. They are asked to change their clothes when wearing shorts or capris. The girls are not allowed to stay late and attend events like Star Night or any of the college band performances while the boys can stay for the rest of the performance.
My friend found no equality with her male counterparts at NIT Kurukshetra. There are many other instances where acts of discrimination have occurred. My friend feels that equality should start from an educational institute and only then can it extend outside.
So if you are a girl, and are planning to come to NIT Kurukshetra, you should be prepared for similar instances of gender discrimination. On the bright side, it will teach you how to deal with patriarchy outside college better because isn't the situation similar everywhere?
How is the mechanical branch at NIT Kurukshetra?
NIT Kurukshetra’s Mechanical is considered to be amongst the best branches here, in terms of placements, exposure, and academics. So, if you are interested in exploring this branch, NIT Kurukshetra is the best place for you. Here are some reasons supporting this stance
Faculty: The faculty are highly qualified and experienced and their lectures are a reflection of the same. The faculty of this branch hold high ranks even outside the Mechanical department like the chief warden boys hostel and dean students welfare. Few are less experienced, arrogant, and dominating. Some are young, less experienced yet passionate teachers who adapt to the institutes' environment pretty quickly.
Placements: The key to getting good packages is a good CGPA, enough knowledge of the subject, no backlogs, and internship or project experiences. Here are the placement statistics for the UG course offered by the mechanical branch.

Infrastructure: The infrastructural facilities to be honest are pathetic and you should not expect any indoor courts or high-speed internet. The departments are small and congested because they were built several years ago. The new lecture complex is however decked with modern equipment. There is also a small market on campus with around six or seven shops selling diverse items like groceries, medical store, snacks, fruit juice, stationary, and barber. The institute has no transportation facility like other engineering colleges and the amenities are overall limited. However, the academics are not affected by this at all.
Campus Life: NIT Kurukshetra has a number of clubs and societies both technical and cultural. Become a part of any of those clubs and experience some practical life outside of books. Try to become a part of the mess committee or student adviser, student internship coordinator placement advisory committee, etc. There are many eateries and other fun places in the vicinity of campus or you can go out with friends to various tourist places within Kurukshetra
Crowd: The crowd is diverse comprising students from all backgrounds, nationalities, societal classes, languages, mindsets, and walks of life.
Curriculum: The NIT Kurukshetra Mechanical Engineering curriculum is outdated and obsolete. However, a new updated curriculum is expected to be followed soon.

What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at NIT Kurukshetra?
College life is a whole new world so you need to follow the advice of seniors to ensure you don’t make the same mistakes they did. Here are some tips you can follow that will help you set your priorities right
- Attend the classes and pay attention right from the first day. One cannot underestimate the knowledge you gain by attending the classes and the time you end up saving. Make sure to get a high CGPA in the first year as it’s easy.
- Follow the 75% attendance rule religiously and only skip classes that are not very important and won’t get you detained.
- Socialize with your peers and seniors instead of starting holed up in your room. Discuss everything with your roommates and develop strong bonds with them.
- NIT Kurukshetra is a ragging-free campus so you can approach your seniors easily for assistance.
- Explore your non-academic passions too. A number of clubs promote dancing, singing, instrumental music, sports, yoga, dramatics, etc. Be a part of at least one and pursue your passion.
- Participate in organizing fests as it will help inculcate managerial skills. Particulate in the college fests and showcase your talents. They are a great platform for learning and building confidence.
- Involve in some sort of physical activity every day to maintain good physical health.

How is NIT Delhi? Is it better than NIT Jamshedpur and Kurukshetra?
One of my friends is presently studying at NIT Kurukshetra, and he has a good idea about NIT Delhi. But he does not tell me more about NIT Jamshedpur, as he has limited knowledge about this institute.

- Presently, the college administration of NIT KKR has updated their curriculum, in which you have to read 6 core subjects in your first-year study. However, it will help you to get closer to your respective branch.
- Recently, the director of this institute, namely Dr. Satish Kumar. Since his appointment, this institute is progressing continuously. My friend told me that within 6months, he opened a swimming pool, which is Olympic Standards.
- The classes are completely air-conditioned, with an installation of a new supercomputer. Indeed, NIT KKR was not considered a good college a few years back, but these days it is not at all behind the other top institutes as it is developing gradually.
Besides, NIT Delhi is a newly opened institute with a temporary college campus. Someone mentioned that the students have to travel approximately 2 hours from their hostel room to the college rooms in NIT Delhi, which is quite tiresome. The Alumni Network is completely lagging as it is a new institute.
Additionally, NIT Jamshedpur provides good placement in comparison to NIT Kurukshetra. It is the only thing that supports the rankings of an institute, respecting other colleges. Another important thing is that if you are from Eastern Part, then opt for NIT Jamshedpur.
How good is NIT Kurukshetra's IT placements?
NIT Kurukshetra IT branch is much like the CS and so the opportunities offered are also similar. Almost every student of the branch gets placed with decent packages. The top IT giants that visit the campus for placements are Microsoft, Adobe, and Directi. The institute has a decent coding culture and has produced some of the best coders and the situation is only expected to get better.
