SVNIT and Nirma University are both the top-most engineering colleges in Gujarat. But SVNIT, Surat is the better choice among the two if you are planning for IT. The reasons are shared below.

Both the institutes have excellent placements. But the return on investment which you get in SVNIT is unbeatable.
BITS Goa is much superior to SVNIT any day for placements. Although the package that you would get offered by recruiters depends upon your skills and several other important aspects such as your credentials, the marks obtained, and many more. Here is why you should choose BITS Goa over SVNIT.

Average Package | INR 24.8 LPA | INR 6.15 LPA |
Highest Package | INR 43.3 LPA | INR 10 LPA |
Major recruiters | Amazon, Oyo, Synchrony | Adobe, Nokia, Deloitte |
These are a few of the topographical advantages that the campus of BITS Goa has to offer. The metro city of Mumbai is also very near to the institution.
An integrated MSc. from SVNIT will be beneficial for your future as NITs are the second most revered engineering colleges in our country. Chasing one’s dream is a good idea, but one must also be aware of our future prospects. SVNIT is a good choice in terms of placements.
Some of my friends who graduated from SVNIT know of their batchmates who received job offers of around 30 LPA from foreign recruiters. Even Indian organizations pay SVNIT graduates handsomely, but the foreign offers are higher.
Ultimately, it is you who has to make the most of the available opportunities. Thus, I would recommend you join SVNIT for an integrated MSc.
Branch change at SVNIT starts before the end-term examination of the second semester. There is a form that needs to be filled before the start of the end term of your 2nd term. You need to fill in details such as your name, current CGPA, admission number, current branch, the choice, and the priority of the branches you want to switch. The results of the branch change will be declared after the results of the 2nd term are announced. Here are the factors on which your chance of getting your preferred branch depends.
The most important factor is your CGPA and the popularity of the branch i.e. how many students have opted for that particular branch. For example, if 10 students want to join the CSE branch but it has only 4 seats left, then you need to be in the top 4 students to get the branch.
As per the trends, branches such as ECE, Mechanical Engineering, and CSE are always more in demand and they require a CGPA of more than 9. Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Chemical Engineering are relatively easy and people usually get any one of the three should they apply.
SVNIT has been an alma mater to numerous achievers and well known personalities.
Here are two of the many notable persons who received their education from SVNIT-
He completed his B.Tech in Civil Engineering from SVNIT in 1984. Futurenet is an IT service provider and environment technology firm. It was listed among top 50 companies to watch for in Michigan, and was recognized as one of the top 10 fastest growing companies in the USA by Harvard Business School, Boston.
In a joint venture with the research and technological aid of SVNIT, Futurenet worked to set up India’s first salt water desalination plant in SVNIT campus. The aim of this project was to make SVNIT completely independent of the municipal water system.
Mr. Mehta has received numerous awards and honors from the US government for his successful entrepreneurial ventures.
Mr. Sharma completed his B.Tech Mechanical from NIT Surat, and went on to complete his MS in Mechanical from Arizona State University. He took the office of the Executive Director and CEO of Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd. on 4th July, 2012. He also serves as a Director on the board of Ecofirst Services India Private Ltd.
These are not even a handful of the high achievers who graduated from SVNIT. The list is quite large.
I had a mixed experience on my first day at SVNIT.
As a fresher, I was allotted a hostel room in GAJJAR BHAVAN. I found a huge crowd of freshers arriving at the hostel entrance. I signed the muster and went inside my hostel room. I had already seen my room during physical reporting, so I was not disappointed at all. I set up my room with the help of my mother, after which, I approached a senior who advised me to get a bicycle because my hostel is quite far from the new CRC building. While I was returning from the bicycle shop, it started raining heavily.
I reached my hostel somehow, and upon finishing all the formalities, me and my parents went to the mess to have our lunch. Upon finishing my lunch, I bid farewell to my parents. This was when I realized that I was on my own. I somehow managed my emotions and consolidated my weeping mother.
After all that, I met a school friend who had fortunately gotten a room beside mine. We finished our dinner a few hours later, and went into my room. But there was a power cut soon after, and it lasted the next morning. I was a bit disappointed. My first night at the hostel was spent without a fan in the month of July.
Despite all the difficulties, it was a start to an amazing journey. This is why I’ll never forget my first day at SVNIT. Also, not to forget, the mess food is actually good at our college.
My JEE Mains rank was good enough to get me a seat at SVNIT for B.Tech CSE. I finally decided to join ICT at DAIICT because-
I would recommend you opt for ICT at DAIICT Gandhinagar.
I am a resident of Surat, and SVNIT is very close to my house. During my college admissions, I was in the same dilemma. So I spent about a week at both the colleges to make a more informed choice.
One of the professors at SVNIT suggested that I opt for B.Tech ICT at DAIICT over Computer Engineering at SVNIT. He told me that DAIICT is a better option for computer related branches. Here are some pros of joining DAIICT as a B.Tech ICT student-
Thus, a B.Tech ICT at DAIICT is better in comparison to Computer Engineering at SVNIT.
As one of my friends is in the Computer Engineering Department of NIT Surat. I might be able to answer the question.
NIT Surat is well known for its Mechanical Branch. Compared to all branches, the quality of professors in the Mechanical Department is far better than the other branches.
If you have any interest in robotics we have Drishti, a student club that is completely dedicated to robotics and SAE for designing cars.
Thus, it is suggested that if you want to pursue mechanical engineering then go for NIT Surat. Whichever institute you choose you won't regret much. NIT Calicut also has good reviews on the internet.
Both SVNIT and VIT are very good engineering colleges and both of them have their own advantages.
The placements of VIT are very good as it is a very popular college and all the top companies visit the campus for placements. You can easily secure a job if you possess the right skills and you prepare yourself well for the interview and be confident enough.
Here is a brief overview of the recent placement highlight at these institutes.
