DTU offers better opportunities. If you are interested in Mechanical Engineering, you should choose DTU. You will get good exposure and the institute has great brand recognition in the industry. DTU placements for the mechanical branch are excellent. The highest CTC offered to the branch goes up to INR 12 LPA. ONGC, and Mahindra are some of the major recruiting companies that visit the campus placements frequently.

DTU is an excellent choice for Mechanical Engineering. It is often compared to IIT Delhi.

Which is better for CSE: NIT Hamirpur or NSIT/DTU?

PG
Pawan Gupta Posted On : March 16th, 2022
B.Tech in Computer Engineering, Delhi Technological University

NSIT/DTU is far better than NIT Hamirpur for CSE.

Be it academics, placement, research culture, peer group, exposure, etc. NSIT/DTU will offer better opportunities. These two institutes also have a locational advantage. Due to the favorable location, you can easily get good exposure in the CSE domain. NSIT and DTU both will offer you plenty of opportunities. However, many students prefer NSIT for their small student intake.

What should I opt for, DTU Mechanical or PEC (Chandigarh) CSE?

AA
Anuj Agrawal Posted On : May 5th, 2021

Both the above colleges are really good, so you needn’t worry about that front. You need to first decide which field you have an interest in. If you really have an interest in CSE, only then you should go for PEC. Otherwise, mechanical is a very good branch. Moreover, DTU is known for its mechanical department.

If you are really interested in either of the branches, you should go for it, irrespective of the college you choose. You must first check if you are interested in coding/ development or automobiles, etc. But if you can’t judge your interests, you should go for DTU because Delhi life would offer you more exposure and opportunities. DTU Mechanical is an old, developed branch that is very proud of its heritage.

The table below gives a brief comparison of the courses.

Parameters

DTU

PEC Chandigarh

Average CTC

7.2 LPA

10 LPA

Highest CTC

13 LPA

42 LPA

Course Fee

8.44 lakhs

3.45 lakhs

You may ask a DTU as well as a PEC student for their reviews and then decide which college you would like to go for.

Should I take a biotech PCT at DTU or a CSE at Assam University or any other private college? I have a keen interest in computer science but I want a good peer group and a good college life as well.

Choose the course you are interested in, as it will give you a comfort zone, once chosen the institute does not matter much.

  • It is good to go for the brand value of universities, as they provide various opportunities later on.
  • But you should not choose a branch only for the Institute.
  • If you have an area of interest, you can go to any college.
  • But it is better to opt for a course in a college which has a bit of a good reputation.
  • When you sit for internships or placements, being from a related branch is preferred.
  • You should keep all these in mind when you opt for any course anywhere.

If you are able to secure a seat in DTU, it should not be hard to get admission in a better college. So, you should try exploring other colleges preferably in the metros for the ease of networking and employment opportunities. Isolated colleges have their own flaws.

Yes, two-year droppers can apply for NSIT/DTU. NSIT and DTU take admission through JEE Mains. JEE doesn’t have any age restrictions or rules regarding drop years.

Students can attempt JEE six times, over the period of 3 years after their 12th.  So, you will find students in NSIT and DTU, who took 2 drop years for their JEE preparation.

All three institutes are renowned for their engineering courses, but it ultimately depends on your interests and career goals. Here are some details about both EEE and ECE courses at the three institutes that may help you decide:

DTU:

  • DTU is a prestigious technical university located in Delhi and is known for its engineering courses.
  • The Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) course at DTU focuses on topics like electrical machines, power systems, control systems, and electronics.
  • The Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) course focuses on electronics, communication systems, signal processing, and digital design.
  • Both the courses at DTU have excellent faculty and research facilities.
  • The placement record for both courses is good, with top companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and Google recruiting students.

IIEST Shibpur:

  • IIEST Shibpur, located in West Bengal, is another top institute for engineering courses.
  • The EEE course focuses on power systems, electrical machines, and renewable energy.
  • The ECE course covers topics like communication systems, signal processing, VLSI design, and control systems.
  • IIEST Shibpur has good faculty and research facilities in both courses.
  • The placement record for both courses is good, with top companies like Tata Power, ABB, and Cognizant recruiting students.

NIT Silchar:

  • NIT Silchar is located in Assam and is also a reputed institute for engineering courses.
  • The EEE course at NIT Silchar focuses on power systems, electrical machines, and control systems.
  • The ECE course at NIT Silchar covers topics like communication systems, signal processing, VLSI design, and embedded systems.
  • NIT Silchar has good faculty and research facilities in both courses.
  • The placement record for both courses is good, with companies like Samsung, Intel, and L&T recruiting students.

Some pros and cons of both courses at the three institutes are:

Pros of EEE:

  • Focus on power systems and electrical machines, which are essential in many industries.
  • Higher demand for electrical engineers in the job market.
  • Good faculty and research facilities in all three institutes.

Cons of EEE:

  • May not have as broad a scope as ECE.
  • May require more theoretical knowledge.

Pros of ECE:

  • Focus on communication systems, signal processing, and VLSI design, which are in high demand in many industries.
  • Offers a wider range of career opportunities.
  • Good faculty and research facilities in all three institutes.

Cons of ECE:

  • May require more practical knowledge and skills.
  • More competition in the job market due to a higher number of graduates.

It would be recommended to consider DTU as it is a highly reputed institute with excellent academic programs and resources, making it a great option compared to other given institutes.
