Will I be able to change my branch in DTU/NSIT after the 1st year? If yes, then what is the criteria to change the branch after 1 year?

AB

NSIT Branch change Rules

Branch change in NSIT happens after 1st semester. NSUT has unique criteria regarding branch change. If there are vacant seats in the branch of your higher preference(as filled during the choice-filling procedure of JAC Delhi) and your JEE rank is better than other students who applied for branch change, then your branch changed automatically after the first semester. However, if you have filled out the branch freezing form at the time of admission or students who got admission during the spot round cannot change their branch.

DTU branch change

DTU has no branch change policy. In rare cases, if someone from a higher cutoff branch withdraws his admission after the spot round then the seat is filled by those who opted for that branch and not froze their current branch. The chances are almost low though.

What is the worst thing about NIT Rourkela?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : August 14th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

One of my cousins is currently studying at NIT Rourkela and shared a few worrisome things about the institute that affected her learning experience

  • NIT Rourkela is surprisingly underestimated and does not get the fame it deserves. Only its students can get an idea of its incredibility.
  • Usually on Sundays, the campus witnesses a power cut from 8 AM to 5 PM.
  • The attendance policies are very rigid and a minimum of 87.5% attendance is required.
  • Rourkela does not have connectivity through flight. This makes traveling difficult for the students and also limits the number of recruiters.
  • The clubs are underfunded and therefore their performance is not very good.
  • The library is poorly stocked. It does not have books that are more important to students while exam preparations.
  • The institute has an overly secured campus with a large number of security forces.
  • The campus is overly large and one cannot travel by foot. You need to have a bicycle, to save time and energy.

However, the above-mentioned points aren’t very crucial and don’t affect the learning process directly. So it’s better to overlook them and focus on the bright side of the institute.

IPMAT IIM Rohtak considers past academic records as well but I have got 70% in my 12th boards with extremely low marks in maths. Do I have a chance to get into IIM Rohtak? If yes, then how?

AB
Arindam Banerjee Posted On : August 6th, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

IIM Rohtak offers admission based on your potential and not solely on the marks previously obtained. When the interviewer enquires of you regarding your low percentage, you should honestly answer him/her.

Instead of faltering and mumbling your answers you should confidently speak out your answers. Even if you would be at fault your interviewer would let it slide given that you are not doubtful of your own self. Try not to use any falsehood around them and notably maintain your calm.

One can be of the view that your personality impresses your interviewers. In some cases, this view could be true. Maintain your calm and confidence in yourself and you will crack the interview.

Is a BITS Pilani MBA good or bad?

PS
Prateek Sharma Posted On : August 5th, 2023
studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

The campus won’t play a major role in your future. It is based on the talent and skills of the student in the core subject. You should strive hard for a better future.

BITS Pilani is not good at placement when compared with other leading institutes in India like IITs and IIMs, but BITS is better than the third-grade institutes. So it is better to focus on your improvement in the subject rather than the college.

What do IITans, BITSians and NITans think of their IIIT Hyderabad peers?

AJ
Adinath Jain Posted On : July 28th, 2023
Studied at IIIT Hyderabad

My brother is an IITian and his best friend is an IIITian and he has great respect for his friend. Although his friend had poor academic records and even had a disciplinary committee on him, he was a pro in coding. His skills even got him an offer from Goldman Sachs, but he did not accept the order and started working on his start-up for 2-3 years. Currently, he is pursuing his MBA from a reputed  B School.

My brother was impressed by his friend's decision to give up on the lucrative offer to pursue his dream of a start-up. His passion impressed him and he realized that it actually stems from the ethics he learned from IIIT Hyderabad.

Why don't people prefer NIT Agartala and Silchar?

SG
Sugandhi Garg Posted On : September 18th, 2023
Studied Computer Science at National Institute of Technology, Agartala

Before joining NIT Agartala, even I had many misconceptions about this institution. These were mostly regarding the connectivity, environment, culture, diet, infrastructure, faculty and placements.

Now that I have experienced life at NITA, I am in a position to break these misconceptions about NITA and NITS-

  • Lack of connectivity- Maharaja Bir Bikram airport is just 26 km away from NIT Agartala, and Jirania railway station is just 3 kilometers away. NIT Silchar is just 35 km away from Silchar Airport, and the railway station is 10 km away from the campus. These towns have an absence of traffic jams and efficient transport services.
  • Terrorism problem- This is a complete myth. Both Agartala and Silchar are really peaceful places.
  • Culture and People- No, the people aren’t ‘uncivilized’. Tripura has one of the highest literacy rates in India. Silchar is an eminent trading center and knowledge hub in the Northeast. Both have medical colleges, research centers, and central universities.
  • Infrastructure- NIT Agartala has one of the most advanced infrastructures among Indian colleges. NITS has all the infrastructural facilities. Some facilities included in NITA and NITS are- Supercomputers, Scanning electron microscope, and ISRO innovation incubation centre (NITA). NITS has Asia’s largest digital library. Besides that, both have good workshops and labs, a modern sports complex, auditoriums, restaurants, wifi facility, a swimming pool and a gym.
  • Placements- Both offer decent placements. The average package goes to around 5-7 LPA for them.
  • Food- The food at mess is good. It caters to the dietary needs of people from all across India, and even foreign lands.
  • Faculty- The faculty is excellent at NITS. At NITA, some teachers aren’t good while others are very helpful and learned.

I hope that you will consider NIT Agartala and NIT Silchar for your higher studies. Both are very good colleges.

Will IET Lucknow take admissions on the basis of JEE main next year?

TD
Turja Das Posted On : August 3rd, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

There are certain changes made in recent times for the admission process. Let me share these facts which might answer your question.

  • Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University announced that from the year 2021 no entrance examination would be held for B.Tech programs offered by institutes affiliated with it. It was also implied that the students who qualify for the JEE Main examination would be eligible for admission.
  • UPSEE was conducted every year by the University to offer students admission to B.Tech, B.Arch, and M.Tech programs offered by many private and government institutes in Uttar Pradesh.
  • IET Lucknow, JSS Noida, Galgotias College, and many others affiliated with AKTU would offer admission on the basis of JEE Main rank only from 2021 onwards.
  • UPCET examination will be used for lateral entry to the B.Tech program for diploma holders and B.Sc. graduates; M.Sc., and M.Tech programs.

This has been the only news that has come so far regarding the admission process of AKTU affiliated colleges. For more details, you can visit the official website of IET, or AKTU to clear out any doubts that you may have.
