Kharagpur is a junction railway station which is very well connected to the major cities nationwide. To reach IIT Kharagpur from anywhere around India all you need to do is take a train to Kharagpur station and then you can hire a cab or an auto to reach the campus. IIT Kharagpur is situated in Kharagpur, West Bengal. There are many local trains that you can avail from Howrah Station to reach Kharagpur. It usually takes around 2 hours and 30 minutes. However, if you take express trains from Howrah Station you will reach within 1 hour 40mins. Shared auto service runs from the station to the institution and it is very frequent, so you will not have any trouble reaching the campus. You can always take the help of Google Maps in case you feel lost.
Yes, IIT Kharagpur has a food technology department on its campus. You can easily pursue MTech in Food Technology from IIT Kharagpur after clearing the GATE entrance exam. The eligibility for joining the Mtech or MCP PhD program in Food Technology from IIT Kharagpur is you need a bachelor's degree, it can be BTech or BE or BArch or even a master's degree in Arts or Science with a minimum percentage of 60%. For SC/ST and OBC, the percentage is 55%. Qualifications from all recognised institutions are accepted by the institution. IIT Kharagpur Food Technology Department offers good placements to the students. The average stats of students placed is around 68.75% approximately. With an average package of around 15-17 lakh per annum.
