Can you update me on Permanent campus of IIT Bhubaneswar?
Yes, The permanent campus of IIT Bhubaneswar has started functioning with both administration and students shifted to the permanent campus. The campus is a huge, sprawling across 936 acres of the landmass. It is situated in Argul at the foot of Barunei hill. The campus is located in a near pollution-free, student-friendly environment. IIT Bhubaneswar is well equipped with the basic facilities and runs a residential campus like classrooms, hostels, community center, health center, shopping complex, faculty quarters, etc. The campus is not completely built though; further infrastructure is in the development phase, as new buildings are under construction. Initially, during its inception, the campus was run through two transit camps in the city of Bhubaneswar, but now the campus is fully functioning at the new permanent campus at Argul. The new campus is situated 35km from the airport and 8kms from the nearest railway station. The auditorium and the lecture hall complex are currently under construction.

Why don't students resist the 85% attendance rule in IIT BHU ?
In IIT BHU, the least required attendance is 85 percent for each course. The majority of the students find the attendance rule a little bit annoying but do not oppose it. This is because if students fail to maintain the required minimum attendance, the institute takes disciplinary measures. They may not get permitted to appear in the end semester exam or their registration for the course may get canceled. Students who fail to keep 85% attendance are often awarded Z grade for the course. This grade appears in the grade card until they complete the course with success. No one wants to do something which reflects badly on their future. Moreover, almost every IIT has such rules.
There is no special remedy for casual absenteeism. Only in special cases, the students are granted leave. If a student has health issues, then they can remain absent. They will have to submit an application for his absence with a proper medical certificate. Also, if a student has to go to other places for any competition, then they can ask for leave. The college grants leave if a student really needs it.
Is CSE in ISM Dhanbad better than IIT Bhubaneswar?
ISM Dhanbad is one of the oldest colleges in India with experienced faculty and a diverse curriculum. The excellent research facilities and the established alumni network coupled with the amazing facilities add to a great student culture existing in the campus. Moreover, in comparison, IIT Bhubaneswar was just established 12 years ago in 2008, and it has shifted to its main campus just a few years ago so as compared to IIT(ISM) Dhanbad it lacks a little behind in infrastructure.
Coming to the placement, both colleges being IITs have an excellent record in the CSE department. Same or similar firms come to both the campuses for placements however the packages and the number of offers made by the firms are significantly higher in IIT(ISM) Dhanbad. For eg., Goldman Sachs in 2018 placed 4 offers in IIT Bhubaneswar as compared to 10 in IIT(ISM) Dhanbad although the average package offered by them in both the colleges was the same at 31 LPA. However, Samsung R and D offered made 10 offers with the average package being 16 LPA at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad and in IIT Bhubaneswar they ended up making 2 offers with the average package being 10 LPA. According to 2019 placement highlights in IIT(ISM) Dhanbad there were 90.23% placements from the CSE department with average CTC 39.5 LPA. Whereas, in IIT Bhubaneswar CSE department had 100% placement with an average of 11.44 LPA.
Therefore, considering all the factors at the moment IIT Dhanbad will be the better option than IIT Bhubaneswar for CSE. However, the speed at which IIT Bhubaneswar is growing it can also be considered as an alternative.
Which one is better, IIT Roorkee electrical engineering or IIT BHU electrical engineering?
I am a student of B.Tech Electrical at IIT Roorkee. Thus, I can only provide an insight into my branch/college-
- IIT Roorkee is the oldest technical institution in India. It has a strong academic reputation, and is consistently ranked among the top engineering institutes in India. IIT R is ranked 6th as per the NIRF 2024 Engineering Ranking (for teaching and research).
- The Electrical Engineering department at IIT Roorkee is well-established. It has experienced faculty members who are experts in their fields.
- IIT Roorkee's EE department is involved in research in areas like power systems, control systems, telecommunications, and more. Students of this department get the opportunity to work on interesting research projects, to publish their own papers, and to participate in international conferences.
- The department is equipped with laboratories and research facilities, providing students with hands-on experience and exposure to the latest technologies.
- The institute has a strong and extensive alumni network, which can be beneficial for mentorship, networking, and career opportunities.
- IIT Roorkee has a strong placement record, with many top companies recruiting from the campus.
- Electrical Engineering graduates from IIT R get a wide range of career opportunities in core electrical companies, software firms, finance, consulting, and more.

Is CUSAT worth it for a Bihari student?
The worth of a college does not depend on which state you belong to. It's up to you to make your time at the college worthwhile.
No matter which college or university you are in, they all have almost the same structure of syllabus and you have to study by yourself. If you do not have many options for college, you can choose an institute with a decent rank and low course fee.

- You can earn while studying. There are many start-ups, also you can give tuitions. You won’t have to ask for money from your parents. Many of my friends did the same.
- You can go on trips and participate in games in your spare time.
Cons:
- Because of the different culture and language, sometimes you may feel alienated from others.
- According to student reviews, sometimes the professors can be biased.
- The placement of the college is average.
- If you neglect studies, you have to go through rough times dealing with arrears and drops.
- You won’t be able to go home easily on vacations as it is too expensive.
- It is not a student-friendly college.
So ultimately, it all rolls down to how you use the opportunity. No matter which college you go in, if you want to learn new things and stay proactive, you can surely make the best of your days at the college. So, work hard and try to score well.
What medical test should be done for registration in IIT Bhubaneswar?
There is no mandatory medical test required for registration at IIT Bhubaneswar. However, all students are required to fill out a medical fitness declaration form at the time of admission. This form requires students to self-declare their medical fitness status and any pre-existing medical conditions or illnesses.

For ECE, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is a better option. The department has a good infrastructure. After the conversion to IIT, the labs are housed in the New Academic Complex. It is well-equipped with cutting-edge technology and facilities. Core Electronics companies such as Texas Instruments, HCL, etc. visit the IIT Dhanbad placements. Non-core placements are also good. Amazon, Microsoft IDC, Adobe Systems, Goldman Sachs, etc. recruit ECE students too. The average CTC for the branch is around INR 12 - 15 LPA.
How is IIT -Hyderabad as compared to IIT- Bhubaneswar for Computer Science department ?

Among new IITs, IIT Hyderabad is developing fast. It has been ranked 8th among engineering colleges and 17 overall in India by National Institute Ranking Framework. The CSE branch in IIT Hyderabad is quite good and the opening and closing rank for this IIT suggests many students choosing it over IITs like IIT BHU, IIT Guwahati, etc. The department has 40 students per batch as a result one can have a lot of opportunities for summer training in reputed companies like Microsoft, Adobe Google, etc.

According to these facts, IIT Hyderabad will be the better choice than IIT Bhubaneswar for Computer Science but the choice is yours, so make your decision wisely.
Is it a good decision to take chemical Engineering in IIT Kharagpur than to take ECE, EE or mechanical engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar?
I am not sure about Chemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur but I can vouch for IIt Bhubaneswar, you can opt for any ECE, EE, or Mechanical engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar.
