Between IIT Delhi and Bombay, which one has a better campus life?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : April 10th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

I believe IIT Bombay has a better campus life than IIT Delhi. Here are a few points to prove the same

  • Events: Asia's largest technical event Techfest and cultural event Mood Indigo are organized by IIT Bombay. These are much superior and better than IIT Delhi’s 'Tryst' and 'Rendezvous' in terms of planning, entertainment, and scale.
  • Transport: IIT Bombay has its own elaborate bus service inside the campus that runs 24/7 on CNG. IIT Delhi on the other hand just has 3-4 buses that run not more than 4-5 times during morning and evening. Hardly all the students are able to avail of this service because the buses are always fully occupied.
  • Exotic Powai Lake: The hostels of IIT Bombay especially H12 and H13 offer a picturesque view from the balcony or rooftop and give a calming effect to the students conducive to learning. IIT Delhi on the other hand is located in the most polluted city and the hostels offer a similar unhygienic view.
  • Restrictions: IIT Bombay has no rules regarding girls' and boys' hostels and students are free to visit opposite-gender hostels. IIT Delhi gives no such relaxation and gender mix is possible only during House Day, which is held once a year.
  • Food and refreshments: IIT Bombay has an abundance of food and refreshments offered through kiosks, food stalls, and ice cream parlors. Although IIT Delhi too provides snacks, its food is not comparable to IIT Bombay.
  • Mess food: IIT Bombay serves both non-vegetarian and vegetarian in their real sense whereas IIT Delhi caters to North Indians' taste buds mainly and the quality of food is also lower than IIT Bombay.

Some might find the above differences too minor, for them, it’s better to choose the one that aligns with their own preferences like location, etc.

How is life at IIM Kashipur?

HN
Hardik Nagar Posted On : January 13th, 2023
Co-Founder at CUCET Club (2013–present)

It is true that life at an IIM is hectic, but this acceptance has shaped students in such a way that they are prepared to follow the most demanding of schedules.

IIM Kashipur places a strong emphasis on students' overall development. The Institute offers a variety of opportunities. The Institute is located in one of the country's most densely industrialised regions, with over 180 industries having plants in and around the region.

A completely student-driven campus, with a student body for everything from placements to functional work, academic to non-academic activities. Throughout the year, students are involved in a variety of activities, such as organising the flagship events such as Annual Fest - Agnitraya, management conclave, TEDx, and so on.

One of the fascinating aspects of campus life is learning about insights that even students are sometimes unaware of. The language aspect is the most intriguing; the humorous slang will make you roar with laughter. Similarly, IIM Kashipur's campus language makes you laugh every time you read it.

IIM Kashipur students make time for themselves and spend it on campus in their designated areas. The Night Canteen, which is run entirely by students, is one of the special corners. You can not only eat but also talk, gossip, and relax with your friends and groups.

Is the crowd at Kirori Mal College good?

SM
Sia Majumder, Posted On : October 21st, 2021
studied at Kirori Mal College, Delhi University (2017)

One of my friends studied at Kirori Mal College (KMC). According to him, they have a really diverse crowd. Students from all backgrounds study here. Students here are dedicated to their studies and also enthusiastic about participating in clubs and societies, so you will see how beautifully they balance both of these.

If you want to explore the college whether it is Politics, extracurricular activities, or studies, you should join any of the societies in KMC. The crowd overall is fine. There are very few chances of ragging and all the credits for this go to elections of the student union.

KMC is best for your overall development, participating in societies and politics it will help explore the leader in you.

Student life at IIIT Delhi is considered to be quite challenging but also rewarding. Students don’t have to be engrossed in academics throughout the day and can follow the Work Smarter not Harder mantra here. Attend the classes sincerely and pay attention to everything that is being covered. Apart from lectures 2–3 hours of focused studying a day is more than enough to get decent marks. How is life for a freshman at IIT Roorkee?

RS
Radhika Srivastava Posted On : April 14th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee

Life for a freshman at IIT Roorkee can be quite challenging as the academic workload is quite demanding. However, students are also provided with numerous opportunities to get involved in extracurricular activities and clubs, which can help to balance out their experiences.

  • Academics: The academic workload at IIT Roorkee for first-year students is quite a bit to handle initially. You will have too many subjects, labs, assignments, and classes. However, this might actually help the students to prepare themselves for the upcoming years and maintain a good CG right from the start. The semesters are further shortened with only one minor exam throughout the semester.
  • Hostel: Every first-year student is assigned the Rajendra Bhavan which is exclusively for freshmen. This Bhavan will become your home away from home and you will make a family away from home. This is the most well-kept hostel of IIT Roorkee and every freshman starts creating memories from scratch here.
  • Extracurricular: IIT Roorkee balances the academic workload well with extracurricular activities to break the monotony. There is so much to explore from Photography and Arts to Writing for the magazine, designing, and the Himalayan Explorers Club. One can find some or other thing that matches their passion. The first year is the best time to become a part of a club or group.
  • Food: The food served is decent but after a while, you might stop liking the taste. Students are advised to choose their Mess Secretary wisely who will handle the food-related issues better. You can also eat outside at many places such as Prakash, Dynasty, Sagar, Dominos, CCD, and Baskin Robbins.
  • Internet: First-year students can avail the 24/7 smooth network facilities available throughout the campus and even in their hostel.
  • Explore: Owing to its location, you can find many tourist spots to hang out during weekends and break the stress off. Some of the most visited places are Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Simla, Narkanda, Manali, Auli, Leh-Ladakh, and Dharamshala.

Overall, IIT Roorkee is a great place to study and grow as an individual. You discover so many things inside you as well as outside. You will meet new people with a variety of opinions. All you need to do is take every step wisely and make the most out of your first year.
