How does the newly added plagiarism tool work in the BITS Pilani?

BB
Bhumika Basu Posted On : July 19th, 2021
Studied at Heritage Institute of Technology (2019)

According to my friends studying at BITS Pilani, it is highly advanced when it comes to technology and its advancement. BITS Pilani has added a plagiarism tool on its campus to check the student’s capability to write an essay on an unknown topic.

  • This tool has been generated specifically to go through the soft copies and the answers uploaded on it by digital means.
  • The topics given for the essay writing is an anonymous topic and sometimes students also give in their essays in hardcopy format.
  • In such cases, the student checks and again works on their essay before submitting it.
  • When submitted the hard copy files are scanned and then converted into soft copies and are then made to go through the plagiarism tool.

Students are aware of the tool and therefore check the essay multiple times before submitting it. The plagiarism tool is very advanced and also very accurate. It searches the essay multiple times in every order to find out the copied content and identifies as little as phrases used in the same order.

MBA from FORE School of Management

FORE School of Management doesn’t have hostel accommodation of its own but it has tie-up with other hostels in the area. Most students are day scholars and stay in nearby PGs and flats.

FORE offers an enviable campus experience. During the first year, you can spend your time after college on campus or hangout with friends somewhere else. Second-year students usually have classes throughout the day.

What specifications can I expect out of the laptop I am likely to get at the onset in KIIT?

YG
Yasmeena Grover Posted On : August 31st, 2021
Studies Electrical Engineering at KIIT (2020)

I have a friend who is an alumnus of KIIT. He was able to provide the specification of the laptop offered to students in the 2016 batch.

  • Laptop Model: Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 460
  • Type or Mode of Laptop: Convertible Laptop and Touch Screen
  • Display Size and Type: 14 inches (Full HD, Anti Glare)
  • Pixel Density: 210 PPI
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080 px
  • Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 940M (2 GB dedicated, 6 GB dynamic)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 processor (6th Generation; it offers a maximum of2.71 GHz clock speed)
  • RAM: 8GB (RAM Speed: 1600 MHz)
  • HDD: 1TB
  • Backlit Keyboard
  • Fingerprint Scanner
  • Webcam (720p)
  • Carbon Magnesium Alloy Body (The feature is in itself a very dynamic one. It comes with a serious fingerprint magnet)

However, there is no ethernet port. In contrast, the university does not also provide any LAN connection, so you eventually do not need the ethernet port anyway.

The laptops provided to the students do not usually come with a ThinkPad pro stylus when they generally should. In the case of gaming, they work seamlessly. Thus, it should not be an issue to be concerned about.

Can anyone guide me regarding what kind of questions are asked in NITIE Mumbai for PGDIE intakes?

SV
Sagun Verma Posted On : March 24th, 2022
studied PGDIE at National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2019)

A friend of mine appeared for the PGDIE interview of NITIE Mumbai, a few years back. He is a Mechanical Engineering graduate. Around 70% of the interview questions were about his profile and his B.Tech project. There were some questions from his graduation subjects as well. During the interview, they often ask technical questions like, ‘Why NITIE?’, ‘What is your career goal?’, etc.

NITIE selection criteria assign more weightage to the GATE score. If you have a decent GATE score, you will have an edge over others. But don’t take the GD-PI round lightly.

I converted XLRI BM, which was my third best call after IIM A and L. Should I join this year or try for ABCL again next year?

M
Monika Posted On : May 29th, 2021

There may be two possibilities here for your rejection- you were nervous during the interviews Or you came across as an aggressive/manipulative/inflexible kind of person to the interviewers.

With your profile, you should probably wait for one year to give a shot at IIM A, B, C, L, before going for XLRI. Prepare for the interview with a calm and good presence of mind.

Even though CAT is unpredictable, take your chances, if you aspire to join Consulting or Finance firms. If you aspire for a Marketing/ Operations/ General Management role, then there would be hardly any difference.

Waiting for a year is a good idea. Along with the reviews and data, consider preference to be known as an IIM A alum than an XL alum. How well you manage your emotional and logical reasons for pursuing MBA is what you need to think about.

What CAT percentile do I require to get calls from IIM Blackis, FMS, SP Jain, JBIMS and MDI Gurgaon?

AD
Anuraag Das Posted On : April 14th, 2023
Studied at MBA from NMIMS (2020)

For GEM, the CAT percentiles required to get an interview call from IIM Blackis, FMS, SP Jain, JBIMS, and MDI Gurgaon are

  • ABC and FMS: Both institutes required nothing less than 99.5. Those who get admission at a lesser percentile, usually don’t belong to the GEM category. There are many who don’t even get a call with 99.3. So to stay on the safer side, go for nothing less than 99.5.
  • IIM Indore and Kozhikode: Both the institutes require percentiles around 97.5 for an interview call
  • SPJIMR: This Institute has unique selection criteria under which CAT is given less value and calls are issued on the basis of the candidate's profile. The CAT percentile required in this case is less than the normal if you have a good academic profile along with work experience,
  • MDI: This institute issues calls around the 96% mark.

It’s important to know that these figures are based on trends and not on actual data so you will find exceptions everywhere. Moreover, it’s better you don’t waste time analyzing the CAT cutoff and start preparing for the same.
