SK
Saikat Kundu Posted On : February 15th, 2021
IIT BHU (2019)

Both the colleges have their own reputation. My father is an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad while one of my brothers is pursuing Law from Aligarh Muslim University. Being a part of two prestigious colleges like IIM Ahmedabad and AMU, when they sit together and discuss something be it Law, ongoing cases, or any other matter, they both have a very different perspective.

My father gives proficient suggestions in legal fields as well. He being an IIMian, believes in talking systematically. He is very patient in carving out solutions to every problem. He used to tell me the time of his MBA at IIM Ahmedabad. During his days of MBA, people were not very crazy about pursuing an MBA. But in his opinion doing MBA is the best opportunity to be a part of an institute like IIM Ahmedabad.

Comparison: (Winning Institution - IIM Ahmedabad)

  • Every college which is said to be one of the most reputed colleges may not provide the best in all the courses. In the same way, pursuing MBA from Aligarh Muslim University cannot be a good decision. AMU is best for many other courses but it’s a “Big No” for MBA.
  • If you are capable enough, then you must prepare to crack CAT and be a part of IIM Ahmedabad. MBA from IIM – A is a way better choice. The college has been producing better placement results for many years. They develop your management skills and prospers to bring out the best management skills in yourself.

The table below gives a brief comparison of the two institutes.

Which is the better choice for a BA LLB, Jamia, BHU, or AMU?

SS
Sudeshna Sen Posted On : March 1st, 2021
IIT BHU (2018)

There are a few law colleges that have been tagged as the “traditional law universities” due to their long history & renowned law faculties. The colleges which fall under this category are- AMU, Jamia, BHU, and GLC Mumbai & DU. although, the reputation of NLUs and their performance can never be surpassed by the above-mentioned law colleges. These universities are well-known & have great faculty that comprises jurists, lawyers, & academicians but their growth rate is slow. They have been able to walk parallel with the changing scenarios in the field of law, including a major deviation from the corporate law field.

You need to make the decision about college by keeping in mind what you want to do in the future. In that, the discussion below can be helpful.

Aligarh Muslim University:

  • Recently, AMU is in the limelight due to the high selection rate of its students in the judicial services examination. Also, AMU produces academically high qualified students.
  • The number of people from AMU who have traveled abroad for an LLM degree is less, but nevertheless, it’s an achievement that can't be ignored.
  • There is no placement cell at AMU faculty, which limits the internship opportunities. Since AMU is close to Delhi it makes it convenient for the students to seek internships outside the campus.
  • AMU focuses more on acquiring core law knowledge. This might not be of much help when it comes to practical law (Litigation). However, the competitive environment on the campus helps in clearing competitive exams like judiciary exams, DJs, UPPCSJ. At the end of the day, one needs to decide what they want to do, likewise, choose the kind of knowledge they need.
  • The atmosphere of AMU is not conducive for growth unless the student takes the imitative on its own. The student has to look for internships by themselves without being dependent on the college.

Jamia Milia University:

  • There are certain similarities between Jamia and AMU, except for the location. Jamia is located right in the heart of Delhi, thus making it easier for internship opportunities for students. Delhi is a place in terms of developing a legal perspective, therefore widening the exposure of students.
  • The culture of Jamia, along with the enthusiasm for internships is quite lively.
  • Jamia, like AMU, doesn’t have a placement cell on campus. Thus, restricting the job opportunities from the corporate sector of law.

BHU:

  • BHU has a placement cell for its students.
  • BHU has kept up with the upcoming trends. A proof of this is the introduction of a 1 year LLM course. This hasn’t been adopted by the other two colleges yet.

So, keep these things in mind and decide for yourself.

Where can I get the previous years' MSc chemistry entrance examination questions papers of Aligarh Muslim University?

NP
Nilima Pandey Posted On : August 14th, 2020
M.Sc in High Energy Physics from Aligarh Muslim University (2017)

The previous year's examination question papers of Aligarh Muslim University can not be found on the internet. The main reason behind that is AMU does not make their paper public.

If you want the previous year's papers, contact the members of the seminar library of the AMU chemistry department. Or else you can check the Maulana Azad Library about the previous year's papers of MSc. If you know any research scholars in the department, they might help you. Moreover, in Aligarh, there is a Shamshad market, famous for bookstores. You can buy reference books, previous year papers, etc. from the bookstores there.

How is AMU for a BA LLB?

SV
Sumit Varma Posted On : March 1st, 2021
JMI (2019)

AMU BA LLB is not up to the mark in comparison to other law colleges in India. Instead of going for AMU, you can look up other well-known colleges like NLUs or any other private law colleges. If the option of other colleges doesn’t work you can choose to study in places like- Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kolkata (preferably in this order). After completing the studies, join law firms and visit the college only to give exams. Similar to correspondence education. Check the rankings of the opted colleges on law websites, not the rankings like India today, etc., and then choose your respective college.
