Can one clear AIIMS Delhi within 1 year of preparation?

FY
Fayaz Yousuf Posted On : July 2nd, 2022
MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences

Yes, it’s possible to clear AIIMS Delhi with only one year of preparation. Usually, students take 2 years to prepare but there are many who have done it in one. If you put in the required effort, it’s possible.

You should adopt a target-based preparation strategy. Take a chapter and keep on giving tests until you score at least 90% in it. Once done, move on to the next chapter. Make daily, weekly, and monthly preparation plans.

How can I get in AIIMS Delhi?

RJ
Rakshit Juneja Posted On : October 13th, 2021
Student at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (2019-present)

This is one of the prominent questions that any medical student asks. AIIMS Delhi, being a prestigious institute, is a dream for many but it is not easy to secure a seat there.

  1. To begin with, the entrance exam for AIIMS is regarded as one of the most difficult exams throughout the country. It has higher-level questions that cannot be answered without a thorough understanding of the concept.
  2. Students usually overlook NCERT because they believe the notes provided in coaching are adequate. But NCERT contains some key concepts that are not always included in the notes, and a thorough reading of them is required.
  3. In AIIMS's viewpoint, the Section "Points to Ponder" in NCERT’s Physics is worth reading.
  4. In addition to PCB, the exam also has a GK section. Read current affairs typically from 3-4 months before the exam.
  5. Solve previous year’s JEE Main and JEE Advanced papers as the questions for Physics are seen
  6. Aside from coaching notes and question practice, the Lab Manual for Chemistry should also be read for practical-based questions.
  7. Try to solve basic Mental Ability books from publications such as MTG or Arihant. These types of questions are asked at a very basic level.

Overall, the exam requires the following skills: Concepts, Speed, Accuracy, Consistency, Presence of Mind, and good honest preparation.

Why do AIIMS Delhi students get a very short percentage in an MBBS even though they are intelligent?

AS
Abhishek Singhania Posted On : October 13th, 2021

Your intelligence is determined by your hard work. Even if you have an IQ of 200 and do not work hard, you can still fail MBBS. Medicine, in general, is a test of determination, patience, and perseverance rather than intelligence.

Overall it all depends on you, if you don’t study, your IQ won’t help you pass your exams.

Which way is better to do an MS general surgery and then take up neurosurgery as a superspeciality or the direct 6yrs Mch Neurosurgery course offered by AIIMS and NIMHANS after an MBBS?

SR
Swastika Roy Posted On : October 6th, 2021
MBBS Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degrees, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences

I know a person who is pursuing Neurosurgery and he does not feel it is not necessary to go through 3 years of MS general surgery before taking up neurosurgery. As a 6-year student, he was supposed to rotate through 10 months of general surgery.

He did not find general surgical skills that he acquired during the rotation, of much use in neurosurgery, other than the very basic knot tying and suturing skills, which can also be acquired through dedicated lab practice.

The other techniques followed in neurosurgery are significantly different from those followed in general surgery. The extensive use of the surgical microscope and bipolar coagulation for hemostasis distinguishes this surgical discipline from general surgery.

Today, neurosurgeons typically use access surgeons (thoracic surgeons or urologists) if they want to perform any unconventional approaches to the spine, which is much safer for the patient.

A lot of post-MS students don’t find much difference in incompetence or spectrum of surgeries and they are comfortable when compared with those having gone through six years of courses.

Globally, there is a trend towards running integrated courses only. Also, in India, pursuing a 6 years’ course after MBBS means you will have one less entrance examination to worry about.

No one can tell the exact marks as AIIMS does not reveal the actual score of any person. It only releases a percentile. However, there are certain criteria for marks to get you in AIIMS Delhi.

A score of 145-150 is considered safe for admission to AIIMS New Delhi, whereas a score of 155-160 is considered the safest. With this score, your admission is guaranteed.

However, it is not easy because as competition is increasing day by day, only your hard work and dedication can get you in.

How was your AIIMS Delhi freshers party 2021?

KS

Studies at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (2025)

Freshers' party is the best party you will ever witness at AIIMS Delhi. It has a lot of fun, and the entire day and night are full of energy.

The program usually begins with everyone wearing formals and going in batches to watch videos of their time at AIIMS up to this point.

One of my friends is presently studying at the institute. For his Fresher’s party, the institute organized dinner which was very delicious. Following that, there was a couple of dance in which the couples were chosen at random using chits. Other activities include a ramp walk and talent round. You will be surprised to see the hidden talents of your classmates.

In the end, a normal award ceremony will be there to announce Ms. and Mr. Freshers.

What does one need to sacrifice to get into AIIMS Delhi?

RM
Raghav Malpani Posted On : May 6th, 2022
MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences

If you are consistent, studying 4-6 hours daily can help you get into AIIMS Delhi. Studying 24*7 and sacrificing everything you like other than academics, isn’t necessary. You may have to procrastinate some activities like playing games or watching web series. But you can still keep 1-2 hours for doing things that you like, other than academics.

Try to stay consistent while preparing and enjoy other things too. This way studying won’t get boring.

Does all the AIIMS have the same freedom environment like bringing anyone to their rooms no hostel timings or is it only for the AIIMS Delhi?

SR
Sejuti Roy Posted On : September 24th, 2021
Studied MBBS from AIIMS Bhubaneshwar (2021)

In AIIMS Bhopal, the hostel deadline for girls is 10 pm and for boys, there are no timings. Even for the girls, the library is open till 2 AM. There are no strict timings for both the girls and boys and they can stay out after 10 pm also. Many students do that.

From the third year, these timings and rules are even more relaxed. Until the third year, a student can have minor arguments with the warden or the guard but there will be no major issues or problems. For events also, there is no one to watch you. With the help of the student union, no one interferes in the college fests or events. They don’t keep a student under eye for 24*7 and students can be around in the hostel campus these times as late as 4 am also.

These rules are relaxed after the first year as earlier the deadline was off till 9 pm for girls. The rule of boys could not enter girls hostels and vice versa still pertains. The students can visit the PG and intern hostels at any time.
