A senior of mine studies in BITS Goa and has completed his first year. His journey has been full of ups and downs but it is totally worth it according to him. Here is his review of the institute.
Campus Life:
Campus life is great. The weather is always pleasant and great. There are lots of sightseeing places, with sea views and beaches. The infrastructure is very good. You can visit the city after 5 pm but need permission in case you want to stay overnight.
Academics:
There is no compulsion for any classes from the institute’s side but there are few teachers who have put a 10 or a 20 percent minimum criterion for evaluation. The teachers are experienced and well known in their respective fields. Also, BITS Goa has a great library and a well-equipped computer lab.
Extracurricular:
You will definitely enjoy studying at BITS Goa.
You might have a chance to get a seat in these two. But, choose wisely. See, every branch is unique in itself though teaching differs from college to college and so is learning. So, seize the opportunity you get and decide for yourself and be ready to live with it. If you do your research before opting for one you will find both being highly competitive branches.

So before going for one, introspect yourself with few questions as such:
Again, CSE is a very rigorous program. Be prepared to work hard. CSE is the most sought-after course in NITs, but NITW is much better than NITC. So go for the better college. And ECE at NIT Warangal would be better, NITW is academically better and placements are good for the ECE department.
Also, don’t just limit yourself. There are also other branches to explore which the college offers.
Among these, you should select IIT Patna. The preference order for these institutes is IIT Patna>NIT Warangal>IIT Mandi. It offers better academics, infrastructure, and placements. IIT Patna placements in 2022 ended with the highest domestic CTC of INR 61.30 LPA. The average package offered for UG courses was INR 28.86 LPA. Google London offered the highest international CTC of INR 137 LPA.
BITS Goa is better than NIT K/W/T.

Lastly, the choice is yours. You should do thorough research about all these institutions, and choose based on your interests.
The most practical thing to do here would be to begin with taking a look at the syllabus of both these mentioned programs. You need to be absolutely clear about whether you wish to study for the next 4 years of your life and maybe also be able to develop a career in the same field. Interest and passion are mandatory to be able to sustain in any field of engineering for a very long period of time.
Now as far as my personal opinion goes, since two of my brothers have completed their engineering from IIIT Allahabad, I strongly believe that IIITA is a notch better than the others. Although the syllabus of CSE and IT is more or less the same, the overall academic environment of IIITA is better suited for coding when compared to the other NITs. There are a number of competitive programming websites available online where you will find more students of IIIT A placed at higher ranks than NITs.
There is a process of development, evolvement and growth as a programmer in IIITA for the students. It is known to all that India’s best coder Suryanarayana is also from IIIT A. Another reason why IIITA is a popular option for many aspiring coders is because unlike other colleges, it offers core subjects from the first years itself.
The placement scenario is also far accomplished of IIIT Allahabad.
One of my friends pursued BTech Civil Engineering from NIT Warangal. NITW was reported to be one of the best for Civil Engineering among all the NITs and IITs in India by most of the students. Thus it can be said that Civil engineering at NIT Warangal is better than NIT Surathkal.
Here are some of the observations about NIT Warangal that you should know.
If you want to opt for Civil engineering then you should go for NIT Warangal as this is one of the best colleges for Civil.
My sister is a former NIT Warangal student. At the time of her admission, we ate at the mess at the college. Here comes the real thing about the messes. There are two kinds of mess facilities at NIT Warangal: Government mess and Private mess.
There are 3 private messes at NIT Warangal naming: IFC-A, IFC-B, IFC-C.
Overall the mess in NIT Warangal is far better compared to other NIT's.
One of my cousins recently encountered a similar situation where she had to choose between an M.Sc in Chemistry at BITS Hyderabad, and Biotechnology at NIT Warangal.
Thus, going for BITS Goa can be a superior choice to the NIT Warangal.
According to the reviews online, NIT Warangal is much better than NIT Rourkela. It is among the top 3 NITs in India. Warangal has the best CSE and ECE departments. They have a 100% placement record.
NIT Rourkela is also good but not in the same league as Warangal. NIT Rourkela has increased in popularity in recent years and is currently in the league of NIT Allahabad, Jaipur or Calicut. Its main disadvantage is its location and extremely strict attendance rules. But the infrastructure of NIT Rourkela is getting better each day. Due to its location some of the top recruiters do not prefer visiting the college.
The most important thing that makes NIT Warangal better than Rourkela is its moderate course fees and the brilliant placement record.
Categories | NIT Rourkela | NIT Warangal |
Course Fee | INR 6.4 lakh | INR 5 lakh |
Placement Percentage | 70-85% | 95-100% |
Highest CTC | 21 LPA | 28 LPA |
Average CTC | 6.3 - 7 LPA | 15 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Pepsico, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, etc. | Tech Mahindra, KPMG, Goldman Sachs, TCS, etc. |
Thus, choosing NIT Warangal seems to be a better option than going for NIT Rourkela.
You will have to consider quite a few things before you decide between these 3 places. Most of my friends agreed that ECE is one of the toughest branches in engineering.
Additionally, other job roles you can expect from these institutes include managers in various industries. These will highly depend on your luck and personal leaning. You can expect a pay of INR 5 to 15 lakhs per annum. However, a drawback is that these companies look at your academic profile heavily. So if you have a lower grade, it is possible that this could stand as a setback.
Finally, when it comes to Tier 3 colleges NIT Rourkela is better, the job prospects from these colleges are not that great. You can expect to have a salary of INR 3 to 4 lakhs per annum with most jobs in service based companies.
