What is the level of interview for XIMB? What are the preparation strategies for cracking the interview for XIMB considering less than 1 month time?

RS
Radhika Srivastava Posted On : March 9th, 2023
MBA in Business Management, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (Graduated 2019)

When preparing for an interview at XIMB, it is important to focus on a few key things to help you perform your best. Firstly, it is important to thoroughly revise your undergraduate subjects as this can make up a significant portion of the interview. Ensure that you have a good grasp of the technical aspects of your course and can discuss it confidently.

In addition, it is important to have a good understanding of general knowledge, including current affairs. You don't need to know everything, but having a basic understanding of what is happening in the world can be useful. Furthermore, having an opinion about current events can be even more important than your knowledge of them.

Some XIMB interviews may also include philosophical questions, so it is helpful to have a philosophical bent of mind and be able to think critically about abstract concepts. This can help you to demonstrate your ability to think deeply and creatively.

During the interview, it is important to present yourself confidently, even if you don't know the answer to a question. Smile and be positive, as this can help you to build a good rapport with the interviewer. Remember that it's not just about what you know, but also how you present yourself and how well you can convince the interviewer of your suitability for the program.

In general, when preparing for any business school interview, it's important to have a good understanding of your domain knowledge and to keep up-to-date with daily news, particularly as it relates to business. Be prepared to discuss your work projects and know yourself well, as this will help you to answer questions confidently and authentically.

How good or bad is the XIMB campus (both old and new), especially the hostel rooms?

HC
Himani Chawdhuri Posted On : April 17th, 2021
XIMB (2018)

Both the campuses of XIMB have their advantages and disadvantages, but you don’t need to worry about the campus you are gonna get as both are part of the same family.

Hostel Rooms:

  • Life at XIMB is pretty hectic. If you want to do well in your academics, you won’t be spending much time in your room.
  • However, the new campus has better rooms as compared to the old one. As the new campus was build later.
  • The rooms at the old campus are pretty good too. Besides, you will have so much on your plate that you will be staying out most of the time.
  • There is a night mess at the campus that stays open from 12-3 and most of the time it’s crowded.

Internet:

Broadband service is pretty much good in the new campus, although the old campus still has the best broadband service compared to the new one. Fast services are not in much need as torrents do not work there.

If you have decided to study on either of the campuses, there is no need to withdraw because both campuses will give you equal life experiences and moments that you will cherish forever.

Who are the best professors at XIMB?

RA
Rahul Agarwal Posted On : April 22nd, 2021
MBA Rural Management & Marketing, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (2018)

There are quite a few good professors at XIMB that will leave an everlasting impact on you during your time as a student here. Everyone is quite well versed with IC Sir’s enthusiasm, Prof. NG Nayak’s wittiness, and Ramana Sir’s sincerity. Some of the most reputed faculty members among students are as follows.

  • Prof. Subhasis Ray: He has inculcated the love for marketing in his students. He also goes the extra mile to ensure that his students learn the subjects. He earned respect and no one dares to disturb him during his class.
  • Fr. Aloysius C. Jesurajan: He teaches Managerial Communication. None of the students dare to open their mouths to speak during his class. He is dedicated enough to take an informative session for 88 minutes of his 90-minute lecture and will take attendance for the last 2 minutes.
  • Prof. T. Kumar: You will get to learn basic sociology with him during your first year. The subject is quite bland and theoretical but Prof. Kumar took the effort to break it down into concepts that we can actually apply. His teaching made the subject more interesting. His unassuming humor is just another plus.
  • Prof. Jeevan J Arakal: You will probably have his class in a later term of your first year. You will definitely enjoy his classes but the deadlines he sets are naturally feared for among the students.

You will get to learn from really dedicated faculty and enjoy your lectures at XIMB.

In India, how are XLRI, XIMB, and XIME related? Does XLRI play any role with XIMB or XIME?

AB
Anamika Banerjee Posted On : March 8th, 2022
PGDBM Marketing & Operations Management, Xavier School of Management (2016)

XLRI, XIMB, and XIME all three of these colleges are governed by the Jesuit Society. XAT is the common entrance examination for these institutes. Although XLRI conducts XAT, it doesn’t play any role in admission at XIMB and XIME. Some faculties of XLRI teach in XIMB and vice versa. Many visiting professors are also common to these three institutes.

For MBA in HR, should one choose NMIMS Mumbai or XIMB?

SS
Samriddhi Sarkar Posted On : May 28th, 2021
MBA from SVKM's NMIMS (2019)

Having friends in both institutions, I suggest you to go NMIMS Mumbai. XIMB HR has recently switched their name from XIMB to XaHR. This cost them a lot in terms of placements. All of the companies, instead of reaching out to XIMB are showing up at NMIMS Mumbai boosting their demand day by day.

If I were to compare both the colleges based on certain parameters, I would say:

  • Batch: The batch size at NMIMS is 60 which are admitted on grounds of strict merit. On the other hand, XIMB takes in candidates on reservation grounds.
  • Location: If you have decided to reach Mumbai for your MBA, no doubt that it is indeed the best place. NMIMS provides better corporate interface and project opportunities.

Some of my friends who were on the wait-list of XIMB decided to switch to NMIMS eventually. And some of them withdrew their names from the wait-list just to reach other colleges (these were in the lower-tier) but not XIMB. Even the students who are already studying at XIMB advise others to not reach there.
