which are the best colleges for bachelors in economics (hons.) in india

AG
Aditi Guha Posted On : March 7th, 2024
Lives in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India

These are the best Indian colleges for a bachelors’ in economics-

  1. DSE, Lady Shri Ram, St Stephen's and Miranda House- Delhi
  2. Ferguson and Symbiosis- Pune
  3. St Xavier's, Jadavpur University, Lady Brabourne- Kolkata
  4. Christ University- Bangalore

The ones that follow merit based admissions, mainly look at the Math and English scores of the candidates. Some of them take Math scores quite seriously. It is even better if you had economics as a subject in your +2.

An economics background may give you some benefit in the cutoffs. Some others follow entrance test based admissions. They’ll consider both your +2 marks and test scores (more weightage to +2 marks). You may consider a UG abroad, it is totally worth the trouble.

What is the fees structure for mca through pgcet in cmr university

RM
Ranpariya Keyur Manubhai Posted On : March 7th, 2024

At present, CMR University charges a total of 2 lakhs per year as course fee for MCA

To be honest, CMR University is good for engineering courses, but it is just average for an MCA. Around 60-70% MCA students are offered placements, but a good number of companies visit the campus for recruitments.

Some of the remaining students are the ones with backlog(s). The highest package is around 20 LPA, and the lowest is around 3.75 LPA. Amazon, Mercedes, Kochi, Samsung, Cognizant, EY, etc. visit for recruitments. Most of them offer full stack software development roles.

The campus is not fully covered with Wifi. The library is not very large, and the canteen stalls offer very limited meal options. The stalls become heavily crowded during breaks, but the quality of food is good. Internals are conducted every month, but the curriculum and faculty are both good.

Overall, CMR is a decent option for an MCA. But you should also consider other better colleges for this degree.

How is Parul University for a MCA

AS
Ayushi Sehgal Posted On : March 7th, 2024

My brother completed his B.Tech CSE from Parul University in 2023. He is a good student, and got an 8.1 CGPA. He did some extra courses on his own too. But at the end, he did not receive a single job offer from campus placements.

His batch was promised high paying companies during placements. Eventually, all the companies that visited the CSE department, rejected most of the students based on their CGPA. My brother’s CGPA was quite high, so he sat for every company that had arrived for recruitments.

He reached the interview round each time, but still got no replies in the end. Only those students received campus placements who had good connections with the placement coordinators. When my brother applied for off campus placements next, he received plenty of rejections because of his college. The university does not have a good reputation among recruiters.

If the situation is such for CSE graduates, I do not expect it to be better for MCA grads. Thus, I would recommend you to refrain from joining Parul University for your MCA.

RCM Bangalore is a good college for MBA/PGDM studies.

It offers good placements. The highest package touches around 45 LPA, and the average package stands at around 8.5 LPA. Most of the students receive placement offers, and some even end up with more than one. Wipro, KPMG, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, Volvo, GE, TCS, Wells Fargo, ITC and Barclays are some of the companies that visit the campus for recruitment.

The college infrastructure is decent, and all the necessary facilities are provided to the students. These include modern classrooms, library, indoor and outdoor game facilities, etc. The college canteen serves good quality and hygienic food. The campus is great. Sports like cricket and volleyball are quite popular among the college students.

The college faculty is very helpful and supportive. They teach with enthusiasm and in an interesting manner. Most of them are IIT and IIM alumni, or have good industrial experience. This is why they are all highly experienced and skilled. Boot camps organized in global business exposures are quite interesting, and they are taught by foreign faculty members.

Overall, RCM Bangalore is a good choice for an MBA/PGDM. You can consider joining it for your studies.

How competitive is it to get into Boston University's MBA program?

Veda Burman Posted On : March 4th, 2024

Being a Boston University student certainly has its perks, but it doesn't necessarily guarantee a smooth entry into the Questrom School of Business's MBA program. While the acceptance rate sits at a competitive 11.4%, with a significant portion of the student body (69%) coming from Asian countries, it's important to remember that the admissions committee looks at a holistic picture of each applicant.
Here's what the program website says: "The admissions committee considers the whole picture when reviewing applicants, including professional background, leadership skills, academic credentials, and diversity." This means that your academic record, relevant work experience, leadership qualities, and contributions to diversity will all be weighed alongside your application. So, if you can showcase a well-rounded profile that highlights these aspects, your chances of getting accepted are strong, irrespective of your undergraduate major.

Remember, a strong application is key. Focus on building a well-rounded profile that showcases your strengths and aligns with the program's requirements. Good luck!
