Is there any biasness between students of IIIT Ranchi and NIT Jamshedpur?

AR
Aditi Roy Posted On : September 4th, 2023
lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India

Honestly, I don’t know if there is any bias between the students of IIIT Ranchi and NIT Jamshedpur. However, I can point out some common differences between these institutes that might help you get the answer yourself

  • Infrastructure: NIT Jamshedpur has very poor infrastructure and the campus has 1960s buildings with poorly equipped classrooms. IIIT Ranchi on the other hand has air-conditioning and hygienic learning conditions.
  • Curriculum: IIIT Ranchi has a CS-tailored curriculum whereas NIT has diverse branches so the curriculum is quite different.
  • Campus life: Both the institutes have an active campus life with NIT Jamshedpur having a slight advantage in terms of the students-run clubs like RAYS, DAKSH, REVANTA, DRIFT, etc .
  • Crowd: IIIT Ranchi has no Home State Quota so the crowd is much more diverse and talented than NIT Jamshedpur.
  • Hostel: The hostel and mess facilities of both institutes are similar.

Here is a detailed comparison of these institutes

How do I prepare for an MS interview at IIT Madras?

RB
Ranjini Banerjee Posted On : March 28th, 2023
Research Scholar at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

The first round comprises a written test where you will be evaluated on your second and third-year Subject knowledge. The test has both problem-solving as well as memory-based questions. The competition is tough but the preparation is just like GATE.

The interview is usually conducted by the entire faculty pool of your department. They ask questions related to the topic of your choice. Answer the questions confidently and ask for a pen or paper if required for illustrative purposes. Don’t do guesswork as this irritates most of the faculty.

Being a research-oriented program, an MS interview necessarily evaluated your basic knowledge rather than memory-based knowledge. They might additionally question you about your Bachelor's project or any internship you did in the past. They might demand answers to certain questions like

  • Why MS?
  • Why a low GATE score?
  • Why IITM?
  • Why department (whichever department you chose)?
  • Why that particular field of research?
  • What are your goals?

Don’t panic while answering these and show them your research talent so that any shortcomings can be overlooked.

Should I join K J Somaiya PGDM FS or FORE PGDM?

SG
Samarth Gaur Posted On : January 6th, 2023
Simulation-based learning tools, brand engagements

FORE and KJ Somaiya are both excellent. The curriculum is designed in consultation with industry leaders and the growing demands of the industry as an ongoing process at FORE, making it relevant to the workplace. FORE has a strong connection with the corporate world and is a preferred destination for recruiters because it provides value to the recruiter as well. The average CTC offered by both institutes is nearly identical - FORE: INR 14.04 LPA & KJS: INR 12.28 LPA.

If you are not from Mumbai, you must also consider the cost of living. Delhi/NCR is always less expensive than Mumbai.

What are the jobs after doing MBBS from AIIMS?

AM
Anuja Mishra Posted On : June 1st, 2023
MBBS student at Malda Medical College and Hospital

After completing an MBBS degree from AIIMS, there are several career options available to graduates. Some common options include:

  1. Practicing medicine as a general practitioner or specialist in a hospital, clinic, or private practice
  2. Appearing for the PG entrance at AIIMS
  3. Medical graduates can also go for UPSC Civil Services.
  4. - A nationwide test is conducted by the Indian army to choose deserving candidates for Army medical officer posts.
  5. Students from Haryana, have the option to join Haryana Civil Medical Services. The pay scale of a Class 1 officer is really good here. Also, you can benefit from the PG entrance exam by availing of the HCMS quota
  6. MBA IN HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT - don’t expect to look after patients because you will be a full-time manager for the hospital
  7. Another great option is to provide tuition to PMT aspirants
  8. Another option is joining Indian Railways as doctors are employed periodically and the pay scale is also decent.
  9. You can also work as an intern in private medical hospitals
  10. Other state-sponsored posts you can apply for are Food safety officer, District Drug officer

However, the best option it seems is to prepare for PG entrance.

What is the value of a Ph.D. degree from IIT Bombay?

KN
Karuna Nair Posted On : March 13th, 2023
M.B.A. in Marketing, SVKM's NMIMS (Graduated 2017)

If you want to achieve self-satisfaction by gaining maximum knowledge about your research area, a Ph.D. could be a great way to do so. Consider coming to IIT Bombay if you are always enthusiastic about learning something new and doing something innovative. Your work will depend on your area and how far you can reach in the industry. For example, if your area is controlled, you can reach many consulting firms or industries that deal with automation problems. In fact, my lab deals with many industrial problems related to such issues. Your work will be recognized as an asset for IITB, and research is the foremost thing that every professor looks forward to.

Apart from that, you can enjoy a good life as a Ph.D. student here, with the freedom to think in many directions and develop your research skills at your own pace. A Ph.D. degree from IIT Bombay is well-recognized. Many of the students, who are doing their Ph. D.s here in controls, are well settled abroad or in India, which proves the worth of this degree.

What is the most annoying thing about VNIT, Nagpur?

Sayantani Barman Posted On : October 30th, 2023

VNIT Nagpur is registering continuous growth over the years. However, a few annoying aspects of VNIT need proper attention from students and authorities alike.

These are-

  1. Hypocrisy and Bureaucracy within college Administration- This is the condition of not just VNIT, but most government colleges in India.
  2. Strict hostel timings for girls- In practice, boys do not face strict curfew timings like girls. Post 9 pm girls are restricted to hostels, and can’t even move within the VNIT campus.
  3. Student Body- Lack of a proper student body has resulted in a communication gap between students and college authorities. Sadly, the administration is not doing anything to solve this problem.
  4. Narrow Vision- The students and authorities mainly focus on grades and placements. Learning, personality development, and research aptitude are completely sidelined because of this attitude.

VNIT has immense potential as a national level engineering college. The authorities should work on these negative aspects to accelerate this institution’s growth.

I'm working in ONGC for last 2 years after graduated from IIT Ropar? Now I have cracked IIM L, should I go for it?

SM
Shyam Mishra Posted On : November 24th, 2022
PGDM from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (Graduated 2019)

I know a friend who had cracked ONGC and almost touched 100 percentile in CAT. He decided not to go for ONGC but rather to prepare for CAT. But as luck would have it, she couldn’t make it into IIM A B C.

She did not give up and studied hard for the same and got into IIM Calcutta and graduated in 2016. After a couple of chances, she opened her own company in the conventional manufacturing space.

The conclusion from this experience is that you should forego the IIM Calcutta offers if:

  • you want immediate monetary gains

  • you do not want to take risks

  • you are not interested in entrepreneurship

You should go for IIM Calcutta if:

  • You are looking for a brand name

  • A huge IIM L network access

  • If you want an opportunity to pierce into the corporate management space

  • If you are interested in entrepreneurship

It depends mainly on your risk undertaking ability and what you want from your job.

How difficult is it to get into FMS Delhi?

KK
Komal Katna Posted On : December 28th, 2022
Studied at Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi

Getting into FMS Delhi is not easy as it is one of the best B Schools in India with limited seats and excessive competition due to its great ROI. The extremely low fee MBA program of 2 years is coveted by many so you have to earn your seat.

Also, this institute is the best choice for those who have below-average past academic records. This is because past academics carry less weight in the selection process of FMS.

FMS Delhi MBA Weightage for Final Selection

Criteria

Weightage

CAT 2021 Scores

50%

Academic Score of Class 10th

10%

Academic Score of Class 12th

10%

Discussion on Statement of Purpose

10%

Extempore

5%

Personal Interview

15%

An additional 5 marks will be awarded to the Women Candidates who appear for the Interview. Looking at the criteria we can say that little weightage is given to past academic scores (10%) while maximum weightage is given to CAT scores. No weightage is given to graduation scores at all. This means around 80% of your application score is still under your control. Some more tips to increase your chances of getting into FMS are

  • Focus primarily on scoring maximum CAT scores
  • Prepare questions regarding your academic background
  • Clear reasons for your decision to pursue an MBA
  • Go through current affairs
  • Practice your speaking skills

All this will help you get into FMS Delhi.

Which is better in NTTF, computer or tool and die making?

SM
Shreemoyee Mukherjee Posted On : September 6th, 2021
Studies Diploma in Electrical and Electronics at NTTF, 2021

The courses offered at Nettur Technical Training Center (NTTF) differ from other institutes across India. However, in case you are looking for a broad spectrum of placement and standard quality of education, it is best that you find an institute that is rather situated in an industrial area, such as the one located in Bangalore.

  1. If you are more inclined towards a mechanical-oriented course, then go for a Diploma in Tool and Die Making to secure a relevant job, preferably with a job experience to escalate to a good position later in life.
  2. However, because you will hold a diploma in the course, it might as well take some time to secure a good position in the mechanical field. One of the other courses offered at the institute is Mechatronics.
  3. On the other hand, the courses offered in the department of computers will possibly fetch you a job with minimal pay, at least until you secure a good position with a slight pay raise.

It is best that you do not join NTTF because the course fee is almost the same as any private engineering college. It would be an extravagant expenditure.
