The placements of IIT-BHU have been outstanding. The highest package was offered by Microsoft of 1.39 crore. 5 students were placed at Tower research capital with a lucrative package of 40 lakhs per annum. Oracle offered the highest package of 34 lakhs per annum to 15 students. Other than these, Uber offered 32 lakhs, Goldman Sachs-31.5 LPA, Flipkart -26 lakhs, Microsoft India-26 LPA, Qualcomm India - 20 lakhs, Intel Technology India -17 LPA.

The training and placement office of IIT-BHU collaborates with leading MNCs to facilitate placements and internships. About 200 companies visited the campus while many gave pre-placement offers. The companies visiting the campus are broadly classified into Core engineering industries, IT-enabled manufacturing services, consultancy firms, finance companies, and organizational R&D laboratories. The companies also organized pre-

placement talks to facilitate a better understanding of the job roles. Overall the placements had been one of the best amongst all IITs.

In the hostels of IIT Bhubaneswar, there is a culture of giving people nicknames and very few people may know the real name of their acquaintances. There may be many reasons for a nickname to get fame. Commonly it’s because the person with that nickname may have indulged in many activities and everyone got to know him by his nickname. Shubham Gupta is one of the students who was named Mathurawasi by his friends in Hostel on the very first day. The reason he got that nickname was that he came from a place near Mathura (Uttar Pradesh), although his hometown was Rajasthan. He used to be one of the most active members of DC++. And due to that reason, the nickname got famous. Mathurawasi is a very common nickname among the students of IIT BHU. Almost every other student from Mathura gets the nickname Mathurawasi.

In IIT BHU, the least required attendance is 85 percent for each course. The majority of the students find the attendance rule a little bit annoying but do not oppose it. This is because if students fail to maintain the required minimum attendance, the institute takes disciplinary measures. They may not get permitted to appear in the end semester exam or their registration for the course may get canceled. Students who fail to keep 85% attendance are often awarded Z grade for the course. This grade appears in the grade card until they complete the course with success. No one wants to do something which reflects badly on their future. Moreover, almost every IIT has such rules.

There is no special remedy for casual absenteeism. Only in special cases, the students are granted leave. If a student has health issues, then they can remain absent. They will have to submit an application for his absence with a proper medical certificate. Also, if a student has to go to other places for any competition, then they can ask for leave. The college grants leave if a student really needs it.

Yes, IIT BHU offers double majors in a number of specializations. It has a provision of offering a dual degree at the time of admission. Also, if you’re a B.Tech student, then by the end of the 5th semester, you can request to stay there longer and get a dual degree. The college offers a dual degree for the following branches:

Actually DC++ is present in IIT BHU for quite some time. Since torrent is blocked in IIT’s WIFI, students are heavily dependent on DC++ on most IITs. Older IITs have the fastest DC++ hubs like Kharagpur, Bombay, Roorkee. This is where they share movies, games, tutorials, software, and many more. You can visit the IIT BHU DC’s Facebook page and check out if there are still any working hubs. Their FB has more than a thousand followers and you will get all the information there like how to join, hub info, etc. You can also find a website on IIT BHU dc++. First, you should decide which branch you want to pursue ECE or Electrical, as that would help you choose the institute. The electrical engineering branch mainly focuses on the power systems and machines while Electronics is mainly focussed on hardware and working of electronic devices.

Now coming to options you have, for electrical IIT Roorkee and IIT BHU have similar course content. But IIT Roorkee has a slight edge over IIT BHU as more companies visit the campus compared to IIT BHU. A total of 254 companies participated in the placement drive for 2019-20 at IIT Roorkee. The average CTC offered was around 14.7 LPA. Whereas, the placement highlights for 2019 at the IIT BHU show, a total of 52 companies visited the campus and the average salary was around 8.19 LPA. A total of 88 students from Electrical Engineering got placed this year.

IIT Guwahati offers a good ECE program. In 2019, the ECE department had 84% placement and the average CTC offered was around 11 LPA. A total of 88 students got placement from IIT BHU last year. If you want to have the option for software placement, then IIT BHU will be the better option. Software placements of IIT BHU are better than IIT G. Also, IIT BHU offers a better coding culture.
