Which is the best option, BITS Pilani Goa (CSC) or Calicut NIT (CSC)?

SJ
Shanaya Jauhari Posted On : August 20th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Shillong (2019)

First of all, I want to clarify that there is no such branch called CSC in either BITS Pilani or NIT Calicut. Both the colleges have Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) degrees

  • BITS Pilani is a top private engineering university. However the same cannot be said about its Goa campus.
  • NIT is a brand that is recognized instantly by almost everyone in any part of the country and this gives NIT Calicut a distinct advantage.
  • As it is a government-run college the learning environment is also better due to the better quality of students.
  • Companies also prefer NITs over private engineering colleges. You will get better job opportunities at NIT Calicut.
Categories CSE at BITS Pilani Goa CSE at NIT Calicut
Course Fee 19.19 lakh 5.42 lakh
Highest CTC 24 LPA 29 LPA
Average CTC 11 LPA 18 LPA
Recruiting Companies Google, nVidia, DE Shaw, Arcesium, etc. Wipro, TCS, Accenture, IBM, etc.

Hence it is suggested that CSE at NIT Calicut is a much better choice than CSE at BITS Pilani Goa campus.

Which option is better, CS at BITS Pilani, IIT Dharwad, or civil at IIT D?

TB
Tahir Bansal Posted On : April 15th, 2023
B.Tech Computer Science, Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (2020)

If you are interested in pursuing Computer Science, then according to me, BITS Pilani is a great option for you. However, IIT Dharwad is also a good choice, but BITS Pilani already has a well-established reputation and a large alumni network. The start-up culture at BITS Pilani is growing every year, giving you an opportunity to explore the world of entrepreneurship. Before deciding, you should check out the seniors at both colleges and see where you fit in easily.

On the other hand, if you are interested in Civil Engineering, IIT Dharwad is an excellent option. It is a well-established institute with a good reputation in the field of engineering.

If you haven't figured out your interests yet, then it is suggested that you opt for BITS Pilani in Computer Science. The placement opportunities and the chance to study abroad/startups in CS are higher. It is difficult to study CS subjects on different MOOCs while pursuing Civil Engineering at IIT Dharwad. So, choose your branch and college according to your future plans.

Can I get a seat in a university in Amrita, Coimbatore in CSE or chemical engineering with a rank of 11,500?

RS
Rani Sengupta Posted On : July 16th, 2021
M.Tech from Amrita University (2018)

I have a few friends from Amrita University, so I can give you some information regarding the required cutoff for admission at the institute.

With this rank, you will get admission at Amrita University but for getting a CSE branch you will need a rank below 3000. If your rank is above 3000, then you may ask the management and you might get Bangalore or Amritapuri branch for the CSE.

If you are not in the Tamil Nadu state quota category you cannot get a seat with the counseling process, you will need to contact the college for more details. If you belong to the state quota then you might get preference and get the branch of your choice.

Is Aligarh Muslim University good enough for a B.Tech, compared to private universities like VIT, SRM, Manipal and Thapar?

Dhrishti Tuli Posted On : February 6th, 2024

AMU is better than VIT, SRM, Manipal and Thapar in many respects. AMU offers top notch facilities like these private colleges, but its fees are way less in comparison.

Here are the goods and bads of joining AMU-

  1. AMU has very good placements for CS, Electronics and Electrical branches.
  2. The cost of study and hostels is extremely pocket friendly.
  3. The campus is great and very safe for girls.
  4. The faculty and infrastructure are both top notch. The CS and Electronics teachers have worked in the past for MNCs like Cisco and Microsoft.
  5. The library and book banks allow easy access to books for those who suffer from financial difficulties.
  6. The core branches (civil, mechanical and chemical) do not get core placement offers on campus. But one who knows his/her subjects well and has a good CPI, can easily acquire a good core job off campus. Core branches usually receive software related jobs offers during campus placements.
  7. Some freshers might feel a cultural shock at AMU, but they’ll eventually adapt to their new environment.

Aligarh Muslim University is a more reputable brand in comparison to private colleges, and its education is much more affordable. You must work hard and get a good rank to get admission into AMU.

For the year 2019, the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) placement rates recorded by IIT Dhanbad and IIT Bhubaneswar were 60.40% and 86% respectively. The average CTC was recorded as INR 15.50 LPA for IIT Dhanbad and INR 11.44 LPA for IIT Bhubaneswar. The highest CTC offered was INR 39.50 LPA for IIT Dhanbad and INR 30 LPA for IIT Bhubaneswar. The B.Tech placement rate was recorded as 76.06% and 89.55% for IIT Dhanbad and IIT Bhubaneswar respectively.

For the branch of ECE, the number of seats available in IIT Dhanbad is 45 for the General category and 43 for the Reserved category equating to a total of 78 seats. Similarly, the number of ECE seats available in IIT Bhubaneswar is 20 for the General category and 20 for the Reserved category equating to a total of 40 seats.

The cut off i.e the closing rank for the gender-neutral category for ECE in the year 2019 was 4464 for IIT Dhanbad and 3691 for IIT Bhubaneswar respectively.

Students tend to pick IIT Bhubaneswar over IIT Dhanbad due to the temporary campus status and younger experience of IIT Dhanbad as an institution, other facilities like infrastructure, sports, faculty are good in both institutes.

The final decision should be taken by comparing both the placement rates and institutes as a whole; giving equal importance to the choice of branch of engineering that you would like to pursue.

How should I apply for engineering in Pune university? I am from Chennai

HS
Hrithik Singh Posted On : June 19th, 2021
ECE at Pune University 2021

Initially, to determine your admission, you have to appear for the JEE Main entrance examination. You could also appear for the MHT - CET whose grades are also seen to be considered. This exam is comparatively easier to crack.

Only after you appear for either of these examinations, you should then use your scores to later apply to the CAP that would help allot an engineering seat to you.

Most essentially, you should have also scored 50% or above in your higher secondary examination in subjects concerning Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and the additional elective.

For instance, various other institutes like Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering and Symbiosis Institute of Technology have reserved their own entrance exams for admission purposes.

Is Bharati Vidyapeeth University good for chemical engineering (Pune)?

SG
Shreyashi Ghosh Posted On : July 23rd, 2021
Studied at Pune University (2019)

One of my friends is an alumnus of this college, and as per her experience, I would give some insights about chemical engineering from BVP.

The institute is decent, but it depends on different factors to decide if it is best for you.

For the placements, BVP lacks opportunities in the core chemical branch. In the previous year, very few companies came for recruitment. It is better not to keep your hopes high for lucrative packages or core jobs.

The placement details of the college are below.

Average Package INR 6.5 LPA
Highest Package INR 18 LPA
Tuition Fee INR 4.8 Lakhs

The scope of chemical engineering is limited in BVP. It is suggested you do not go for it, instead choose CSE or IT, which have a huge demand.

What should I join? Electronics and Instrumentation at BITS Pilani or Electronics and Communication at MNNIT Allahabad?

AD
Aukur Dutta Posted On : July 9th, 2021
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

Electronics and Instrumentation at BITS Pilani and Electronics and Communication at MNNIT Allahabad both are good choices. Also, BITS Pilani and MNNIT are reputed institutes. So, you should choose either of these two options based on your interest.

I have few friends at BITS, s I can give you some idea about their ENI branch.

  • ENI course offered by BITS Pilani is great in terms of academics and pay package. ENI is derived from EEE courses with only 3 - 4 courses being different from EEE.
  • BITS also offers extensive lab facilities for their EEE branch due to CEERI.
  • According to the recent placement highlights, the average and highest CTC offered at BITS is 15.96 LPA and 9.7 LPA. At MNNIT the average and highest CTC are 10 LPA and 49 LPA respectively.

For further information or so you can definitely visit the official sites of both the colleges. You can also visit their Facebook pages, where you will be able to find seniors from these branches who can give you more information regarding the branches.
