Can you give me an insight on the MBA Analytics course of IIM Kashipur? Any info on future prospects and relevance would be helpful?

YA

MBA in Business Analytics, Indian Institute of Management Kashipur (Graduated 2022)

IIM Kashipur began offering a new MBA (Analytics) program in 2020.

As a result, the course is structured so that the first year focuses on management learning and the second year on analytics concepts. In the first year, the course curriculum includes standard MBA subjects such as finance, marketing, operations, analytics, and human resources. The second year is devoted to analytics topics. Aside from that, there are a variety of electives to choose from in both general management and analytics subjects, depending on one's interests. Both programmes share the hostel and other campus facilities.

Finally, you must consider the program's relevance. And, as all companies focus on data in the coming years, the course will be very relevant in the future.

In terms of future prospects. If you do well, you will have a bright future regardless of whether you specialise in finance, marketing, or analytics. So, if you perform well and gain the necessary knowledge, it will not be difficult to find good jobs.

Does SPJIMR have a different course structure and calendar than the IIMs and other top B schools? If so, is it better?

HN
Hardik Nagar Posted On : March 13th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

There are a few differences in the course calendar of SPJIMR and the IIMs that you should be aware of.

The major difference is that SPJIMR's flagship 2-year MBA course has Autumn Internship while IIMs have Summer Internship. In Autumn Internship, you will have completed most of your first-year B-school knowledge, which is a plus point when applying for corporate internships. Additionally, SPJIMR's famous Sem-III, which is a semester for Specialization courses, would have been completed by then. During this semester, you will undergo live projects which is like a near-internship experience and helps you a lot in your actual internship. However, this can keep you away from interacting with students from other B-Schools, unlike in the case of the Summer Internship. During the Autumns Internship selection process, roles are Specialization Specific, and having completed Sem-III restricts the roles you can take outside of your specialization.

With the completion of the Autumn Internship, the final placement season is usually 3/4 months away, giving companies time to roll out PPI/PPO wisely and allowing students to choose prudently between PPI/PPO and the option to be part of Final placements. However, this can leave students with less time for preparation for finals if they don't get PPI/PPO or reject those.

There are also a few minor differences in the course calendar. For example, in the summer, SPJIMR has Social Internship, whereas IIMs have a corporate internship. Additionally, in the mid-second year, SPJIMR students fly to the US for Fast-Track Learning, which is not available in IIMs. The second year for SPJIMR students is mostly busy with Sem-III then GFT then Autumns Internship. Thus SPJIMR students take part in corporate competitions (likes of LIME, Mahindra War Room, TBLA, etc.) during the first year itself, although this is just a norm. SPJIMR also offers numerous Minors (viz. Analytics, Finance, Consulting, Strategy, etc.). But the Analytics semester overlaps with International Exchange Semester. This means students can either do a Minor in SPJIMR OR an International Exchange at Foreign Universities.

Overall, while the timing of the internships is different, SPJIMR's Autumn Internship can be an advantage for you, and the live projects in Sem-III can provide you with valuable experience. However, you should also consider the minor differences and how they may affect your interests and goals.

How is NIT AGARTALA for doing an MTech in VLSI and nanotechnology?

SM
Spandita Majumder Posted On : September 18th, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Agartala (2019)

NIT Agartala is best suited for people who have been struggling to secure a good GATE rank. Here you get multiple opportunities like pursuing an MTech in VLSI design alongside preparing for exams like ESE. Instead of believing in others, it's better to visit the institute personally and see for yourself if it suits your expectations or not.

  • You can prepare for exams in your free time and also for the PSU interview.
  • You will become more determined and strong when you leave the institute
  • You will master self-learning here.
  • You will have access to excellent internet service on campus.
  • The flight tickets to and fro the college are very cheap so commuting is not an issue.

NIT Agartala can be considered a decent option if you have no better choice for an MTech.

How do you think NIT Silchar can compensate for its location and appear more mainstream?

SB
Silvia Basu Posted On : August 25th, 2023
Studied at NIT Silchar (2019)

One of the major challenges NIT Silchar faces is its remote location. This has led to many issues such as fewer companies visiting during placements, no industrial visits until the institute pays for the airfare, lack of projects and construction materials, and long travel hours for students. Here are a few solutions I have come up with that might solve this issue to a certain level

  • Speeding up the process of Broad-Gauging the Guwahati-Silchar railway line: The deadline for the completion of this project has long passed and it is still under construction. Because of this students have to opt for the costly road travel from Guwahati-Silchar.
  • Speeding up the process of making a 4-lane road between Guwahati-Silchar: Construction for this has started recently and earlier the journey from Guwahati-Silchar used to take about 13 hours. Now it has been reduced to about 9-10 hours and the duration is only expected to reduce.
  • Become a part of the institute once you have been admitted instead of criticizing it. Acceptance does wonders.
  • The management has to be ready to fight this disadvantage with every possible resource.
  • NIT Silchar should build a robust marketing structure. It can capture every ongoing campus activity and post articles, pictures, and videos. All the visiting dignitaries should be treated with utmost care and respect. Excellent content should be updated on the institute's social media handle
  • NIT Silchar has video conferencing facilities and this can be utilized to the fullest to organize guest lectures, deliver courses, conduct placement drives, etc.

I hope these solutions can be implemented as soon as possible to improve the situation at NIT Silchar.

If I apply for a fee waiver seat in aktu and the 5% fee waiver seats get occupied then will I be treated as a general candidate or I will be out of counselling?

DK
Deep Kushwaha Posted On : November 9th, 2022
B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from APJ Abdul Kalam University

Fee Waiver or FW seats are different from regular ones. You will have to give higher priority to seats with the FW option to opt for it.

The simple procedure to apply for TFW seats is as follows:

  1. The initial pages of the counseling form show the option ‘Will you opt for TFW seats?’. Tick it.

  2. Now you need to fill in the choices that prioritize TFW mentioned options.

This part is a bit tricky so I have used an example to make you understand better-

If you want CS>>EC in IET>>BIET>>KNIT then your choice should be filled in this manner:

  1. IET- CS(FW)

  2. BIET- CS (FW)

  3. KNIT- CS(FW)

  4. IET- EC(FW)

  5. BIET- EC(FW)

  6. KNIT- EC(FW)

  7. IET- CS

  8. BIET- CS

  9. KNIT- CS

  10. IET- EC

  11. BIET- EC

  12. KNIT- EC.

Placing your priorities in this manner will surely get you a fee-waiver seat.

How is the food and hostel facility at IIM Kozhikode?

Satyam Purwar Posted On : January 29th, 2024

Having taught at multiple Indian management colleges in the past, I can say for sure that IIM Kozhikode has some of the most well maintained hostel rooms. ISB is at par with IIM Kozhikode in this respect.

The hostel rooms at Kozhikode have balconies with a nice view. The surroundings are clean and green. The washrooms, even the common ones, are in great condition. The newer hostels offer rooms with attached washrooms. The rooms are cleaned every day, and the furniture is in good shape.

The mess offers decent food with limited options. After a while, the mess food becomes monotonous and boring. But eateries are easily available outside the campus. The hostels have a night canteen facility which offers convenient access to snacks at late hours.

IIM Kozhikode offers good food and hostel facilities, so you need not worry in this regard.

How's VLSI in ISM IIT Dhanbad?

AG
Anumita Ghose Posted On : October 12th, 2023
M.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad

Here are some details about VLSI from IIT Dhanbad-

Unlike before, VLSI students study only the subjects relevant to their specialization. The faculty is mostly good. Some of the teachers aren’t up to the mark. But you can make up for that through self study. You’ll get plenty of internship opportunities. For placements, more companies have been visiting in recent years. The absence of an airport in Dhanbad may contribute to many HRs hesitating to visit the campus.

Since becoming an IIT, the college has witnessed rapid improvement in curriculum and infrastructure. You may consult some seniors from VLSI to get a clearer perspective of the current conditions.

Can I get into the CMC Ludhiana MBBS with a rank of 257?

Sayantani Barman Posted On : September 25th, 2023

Yes, you can easily get into CMC Ludhiana with AIR 257. In fact, with such a good rank, you can get into any top 10 medical colleges in India. I fail to understand why you are considering CMC Ludhiana as your only option unless you are a local of Punjab and dont want to move away from home.

CMC Ludhiana is one of the best medical colleges in the country but unfortunately, it has only 13 seats for non-Christians and also charges fees higher than government colleges.

However, there isn't any guarantee of admission even with this rank because the counseling is conducted by a state health university and Punjab gives preference to its own resident students. You will be considered only If seats are left vacant in the third or extended second counseling.

How good is the B.Tech information technology course at the Manipal Institute of Technology?

AG
Alka Gupta Posted On : September 9th, 2023
Studied at Manipal Institute Of Technology

MIT Manipal BTech Information Technology is decently structured covering concepts related to software, hardware, and networking as well. Although the degree offered is that B.E in IT, the department is called Information and Communication Technology so students have to also study communication courses straight from students of the ECE branch.

I will advise you to take up this course only if you are interested in computers and related stuff because the concepts taught are tough and unless you have an interest in the field you won’t be able to cope with the rigorous curriculum. Here are some additional points you would like to know about the branch

  • Every semester has 5 subjects and 3 labs. The labs carry two credits, unlike other branches where they have 2 labs of 1 credit. So practicals are given a lot of importance.
  •  A good variety of electives are offered making the curriculum flexible.
  • You will have to learn to code if you opt for this branch.
  • The IT branch has 5 subjects only so they can go home earlier than other students and the end-semesters get over two days earlier.
  • There are evaluations every fortnight in the labs, lab sessionals, and quizzes for internals for theory subjects and labs as well which other branches don't.
  • The placement scenario is great because of the immense demand of this branch.

Overall, this branch will fetch you enough opportunities if you are genuinely passionate about it.
