Which college should I choose now that I have the option of BR Ambedkar or Shyam Lal college? Also should I consider any evening college?

DM
Dinesh Mishra, Posted On : November 3rd, 2021
studied B.Com at University of Delhi (2017)

Here are some things you need to consider before choosing a college. These include the following.

  • If you want to select an institution by considering the ranking, opt for Shyam Lal followed by BR Ambedkar.
  • Evening colleges tend to have lower ranks overall.
  • Your decision should also depend on the location of the college. As daily transportation will be necessary.
  • You can opt for evening colleges if you have a job during the day.
  • Shyam Lal is definitely preferred more than B.R Ambedkar.
  • As both the colleges are equally good in placements and faculty.
  • The difference lies in the infrastructure and the environment you get to study in, for which Shyam Lal is a better option.
Categories BR Ambedkar College Shyam Lal College
Course Fee INR 32,000 INR 49,000
Placement Percentage 85% 80%
Highest CTC 10 LPA 12 LPA
Average CTC 5 LPA 5-6 LPA

Try not to go for evening colleges unless you are very uncomfortable with the morning timings. Because more preference is given to the morning batch students during placements.

What should I prefer if I get VIT Pune, hostel or rooms for rent nearby?

SD
Senjuti Dasgupta Posted On : October 13th, 2023
B.Tech Computer Science, Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (2021)

It’s better to rent a flat/room than to live in the VIT College hostel. The hostel has bate minimum facilities whereas living in a room/flat muli cons avail as many facilities as you want. Although the girls hostel is pretty good, the old boys hostel is a big disappointment. The hostels are also far from the campus. So considering the cost of living, a flat or room is always affordable.

Additionally, if you stay in a hostel you will have to adhere to the curfew timings so you may not get the chance to attend the night practices, activities, club events, or functions. This won’t be the case if you choose to stay in a flat.

Except for the safety offered to the students in the hostel, you won’t find anything better than staying in a room. So choose wisely!

Is the EPBA program offered by IIM Calcutta considered as a master s diploma or simply a certification?

HS
Harleen Sethi Posted On : December 1st, 2022
Studied Epba & Post Graduate Program in Business Analytics at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (Graduated 2018)

The EPBA program offered by IIM Calcutta is just a certification, but not the kind where you pay money to get a paper from an arbitrary organization. It requires a minimum of two years of experience, and he or she should be employed at the time of admission. IIM C will conduct the screening and selection. You should have a standardized test score, such as the GMAT, GRE, or CAT, that is above the 90th percentile. However, this is not required; it simply adds to your profile.

The program discusses the methodologies and practices that are crucial for data analytics and their applicability in a number of functional areas, including marketing, finance, and operations. It is intended for those who require a managerial introduction to this discipline.

Business analytics is concerned with quantitative analysis and predictive modeling in order to develop data-driven competitive strategies. Examples of analytics in action include businesses that use tools to find their most profitable clients, set the right price, hasten product innovation, improve supply chains, and pinpoint the real causes of financial performance, among other things.

Some fundamental Principles are as follows:

  • Certification from the country's top business school.

  • Studying with India's top professors and business professionals.

  • Boston University provided special contributions.

  • Course Content that has been thoroughly researched and is up to date.

  • A strict program structure with assessments for each course.

  • Simulations and case studies.

  • Earn while gaining a high-quality certification and improving your eligibility for better job profiles with a recognized certification.

  • The alumni membership of IIMC is present globally, and has its own set of benefits for participants' identity, brand value, and marketability.

How good is Khalsa College Amritsar?

CD
Chetan Das Posted On : December 28th, 2021
studied at Khalsa College, Amritsar (2018)

Khalsa College Amritsar is one of the oldest colleges. It is known for its history, scholars and its architectural grandeur. It holds a very good reputation in North India.

Overall it is a good college, considering academics, sports and other extracurricular activities. It’s reputation attracts students from India and abroad. They have a highly experienced faculty and are really good.

The placements at this college are average. The salary package offered to most of the students is 2.5 LPA. Only about 15% of the students receive a good job offer. Internships were also provided in small firms only but not in any reputed organization.

In many courses, the salary package offered was about 2-3 LPA. The college has to improve their placement cell so that all students get a proper job offer.

Khalsa College is good when it comes to campus environment, practicals and inter-college activities, but in academics and placements it surely lags behind.

How is MTech in VLSI from IIT KGP as compared to IIT Kanpur?

SG
Senjuti Gupta Posted On : April 24th, 2023
studied at IIT Kgp

VLSI has become one of the most preferred branches of the ECE department. Its placements are similar across all the top IITs with the top recruiters being Intel, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Cadence, Synopsis, Analog Devices, TSMC, etc.

However, the difference lies in the quality of professors and their respective expertise. A few IITs with their area of specialization are as follows

  • IIT Madras: Analog
  • IIT Bombay: Digital
  • IIT KGP: Analog and Digital
  • IIT Kanpur: SP. Comm

If placements are your only concern, I will suggest you go for IIT KGP which usually enjoys 100% placements with an average package of around INR 17 LPA.
