What was your routine in IIT Bombay?

AW
Amogh Wagh Posted On : March 16th, 2023
B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB)

Firstly, it's important to recognize that everyone follows a different routine. If you are starting a new journey at IITB, your routine may differ from others.

On a general working day, you may have labs/lectures in the morning and classes in the afternoon. Most days, there may be labs, so it's important to wake up early to have breakfast and rush for the labs which may start at 9:30 am. Labs may last until 12:30 pm, after which you can return to the mess for lunch and prepare for classes from 2–5 pm.

After 5 pm, it's a good idea to take a break and relax with friends for snacks and unwind for an hour. It's important to revise what was taught in the class for at most an hour. You can also attend orientations of various clubs in IIT or participate in cultural activities that interest you.

Dinner time can be spent in the mess with friends, having dinner and spending time. After dinner, you can engage in fun activities in your wing with friends or get some rest.

However, in the 2nd semester, you may have to focus more on developing programming skills like python and VHDL, and cut out some of the timepass activities. It's essential to update your routine day by day based on what you learn and what aspects you need to focus on.

Remember, IIT is an opportunity to learn various things, so don't let go of these precious four years of your life. It's important to keep that in mind and make the most of your time there.

IIT Bombay is certainly considered the best among the Engineering colleges in the country. I can list out a number of reasons why I prefer it over the other IITs.

  • Extremely learning and experienced professors with an immense passion for research.
  • Industry-relevant curriculum and application-oriented studies.
  • A flexible environment that helps students make the most out of the various facilities.
  • An amazing extracurricular culture that is promoted through various Cultural and technical events that offer an abundance of opportunities both for the onlookers and the participants
  • A relaxed campus life with a serene ambiance
  • A variety of traveling facilities includes municipal corporations, buses, taxis, suburb locals, long-distance trains or flights.

The last, but one of the most important factors is the IIT tag you get entitled to for the rest of your life. For most students, this is the deciding factor when it comes to choosing their college.

You should consider your branch of preference along with your future plans while choosing the right branch for yourself. If you aren’t sure you can look at the placement rates and packages for both institutes.

Here are the salary packages for the branches based on recent placement highlights.

  • IIT Bombay Chemical Engineering average CTC - INR 12.32 LPA.
  • IIT Bhubaneswar CSE average CTC - INR 16.27 LPA.

Students have to pay tuition fees for all the academic-related expenses separately. The accommodation charges are separate and so are the mess charges. The advanced amount that a student needs to pay for the mess is around INR 20,500.

IIT Bombay like all the other Indian Institute of Technology provide accommodation facilities for the students along with mess and other miscellaneous things. Most of the students avail of the mess facilities offered by the institution to save money on outside food and logging which can be way more costlier than what the institution is offering them Bombay has a high standard of living this is much more convenient for many students.
