What is the placement scenario for mtech in electrical at IIT Bhubaneswar?
The placement scenario for MTech Electrical at IIT Bhubaneswar is quite good. Out of the 13 students studying in 2018-20 batch, 12 got placed in reputed MNC’s like L&T Heavy Engineering, KEC International, and many other companies. The packages offered by MNCs range from 6 LPA to 9 LPA for core companies. There are two areas of specialization for MTech in the EE branch at IIT Bhuvaneswar- Power System Engineering (PSE) and Power Electronics and Drives (PED). Judging by the statistics, around 90% of students in M.Tech Electrical Engineering get placed in IIT Bhuvaneswar. It is quite imperative to note that the scenario for placement in Power System Engineering specialization is better than Power Electronics and Drives(PED). It is due to the fact that PED is a new branch in the institute which was started in 2019. So the first batch of students from PED is yet to experience any placement milieu. However, several companies like delta Electronics have shown their interests and are keen to visit the campus for placements. Although the Mtech program in EE at IIT Bhuvaneswar is among the new ones, yet it has attracted quite decent MNCs for placements.

IIM Kashipur and IIM Visakhapatnam both had strong placement records in 2022, with 150+ and 86+ recruiters respectively. The highest salary package offered at IIM Kashipur was INR 28.82 LPA, while the highest salary package offered at IIM Visakhapatnam was INR 31.60 LPA. Both institutes reported an increase in the average salary offered, with IIM Kashipur reporting an 8.256% increase and IIM Visakhapatnam reporting a 19.33% increase. Is placement of dual degree BTech+MTech(IT) any less than that of BTech IT students at IIIT Allahabad?
There are several sorts of dilemmas regarding the placement of dual degree B.Tech+ M.Tech students in IIIT Allahabad. Here is what I gathered from my friends at the institute.
- For dual degree students, there are enough placement opportunities in IIIT Allahabad. There are a few companies that prefer dual degree students over B. Tech graduates too, as per their own needs.
- Considering the placement strategies of some companies, they consider the dual degree students as overqualified candidates, and so prefer the B.Tech students over them. This is not the case with every company visiting the campus.
- In recent times, the IIIT Allahabad placement committee is trying hard by making formal discussions with companies to allow the dual degree students to participate in internship interviews too, mostly during their intermediate semesters. This will ease the fact of partiality to some extent.
Therefore, considering the factors stated above, it is clear that dual degree students do face problems in some companies’ recruitment drives. But, they do have a good amount of placement overall.
How is the placement for instrumentation and control engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology?

- Between CSE and IT branches, there are no such major differences. Placements also range from moderate to excellent.
