What should I take, CSE at IIT Ropar or IIT Dhanbad?
One of my friends was in a similar dilemma when he got both CSE at IIIT Delhi and CSE at IIT Patna.
Although he lived in Delhi, he did not choose IIIT Delhi and went for IIT Patna instead. There were a number of reasons why he chose Patna.
- He wanted to avail the benefits of the IIT tag.
- He believed that the new IITs are developing at a fast rate and in a few years, their CSE departments would be at par with that of old IITs.
- IITs also have a better crowd because of the high cutoffs.
- IIT Patna being a government-funded college, has amazing infrastructure, placements, facilities, and labs.
- When it comes to cultural fests, nothing can beat the IITs.
- IITs have more interdisciplinary activities which aid in research and also give you an insight into the other departments.
Ultimately, Delhi has a better location but that is outweighed by the IIT tag.
What is it like taking ECE in NIT Jamshedpur?
As an ECE student, you will be taught C and Data structures as a part of the ECE curriculum and not an extra subject. One needs to have good programming skills to excel in this branch. A skilled ECE engineer is someone who has a strong grasp of concepts as well as programming skills. He can easily get a job in core companies and need not opt for software-based jobs.
Electronics
- Writing code in Embedded C or some other assembly language for processors, controllers, and high-end boards.
- In the VLSI domain, you have to write code in Verilog or VHDL to design a circuit/ chips.
- In communication, MATLAB - a widely used computing tool - C like a simple programming language used in it.
Networks
- This requires a deep understanding of concepts and having to work with software and NW-related languages.
Overall, ECE students require good programming skills to apply/ test/ design their core concepts in the real world. Due to some similarities in the curriculum, many software companies allow ECE, and EEE students to sit with CS and IT for placements.
Which is better, IIT Kharagpur for CSE or IIT Delhi for maths and computing?
If I leave my biases towards Delhi as a city aside. I would choose CSE at IIT KGP over MNC at IITD.
- Top 5 IITs are more or less equal in every aspect. Placements are also almost the same for equivalent branches.
- Highest Package for CSE at IIT Kharagpur 2024 is 2.68 CPA offered by Amazon.
- Median salary at IIT Kharagpur CSE is 24 LPA.
- Median salary at IIT Delhi MNC is 20 LPA.
- MNC is one of the toughest branches in engineering while CSE requires comparatively less effort.
- More companies Come to campus for CSE placements like HFCL, Microsoft and KPMG.
- CSE offers more opportunities to several fields like AI/ML, data science, etc.
How tough is getting 8+ CGPA in NIT surathkal?
The level of difficulty of scoring an 8+ CGPA in NIT Surathkal depends on the department you belong to and the kind of professors in that particular department.
- In departments like IT, most professors prefer rote learning so the marks are allotted rather easily in comparison to other branches. In IT, an 8+ CGPA would probably be in the top 40 - 50% of the class.
- Some departments such as Mechanical require genuine efforts to study and here an 8+ CGPA is among the top 50 - 60% of the batch or more.
- Some very challenging branches like Electrical rarely give marks despite studying hard. Here, an 8+ CGPA is among the top 10 - 15% of the class.

Where can I get assignments given to CSE students at IIIT Hyderabad?
IIIT Hyderabad assignments are usually released in a platform called Moodle which has been created solely for the purpose of sharing study materials among the IIIT Hyderabad students. To access this platform you need to be an IIIT Hyderabad student and have connection to IIIT Hyderabad LAN and credentials.
It’s difficult to procure these assignments on the internet as they are available on the institute's intranet only. So, if you aren’t a student here, try getting help from one.
What is the conversion system from CGPA to percentage in NIT WARANGAL?
The Dean (Academic) at NIT Warangal released an official notification on 27th January, 2022. This notice mentions the conversion system which can be used by organizations and companies to calculate the percentage of NITW graduates.
As per the notification released by the Dean (Academic) on 27-1-2022, the formula for CGPA to percentage conversion for all NIT Warangal graduates is-
Percentage= (CGPA- 0.5) * 10
The companies and organizations that require the percentage of NITW graduates can use this formula for conversion of the grades from CGPA.
Which is better for civil, IIT Mandi or IIT Ropar?
Both IIT Mandi and IIT Ropar are well-respected engineering institutions. The institute which is most suitable for you depends on your individual needs and preferences. Some parameters you would like to consider are location, campus culture, research opportunities, and faculty expertise.
In my opinion, IIT Ropar fares better in terms of infrastructure, college life, labs, and resources. IIT Mandi on the other hand is lacking in terms of infrastructure and its campus is still in the development phase. The facilities and infrastructure are crucial to a conducive learning environment and IIT Mandi has failed to do so. IIT Mandi is also located remotely and thus students cannot avail of facilities easily and the exposure offered is also limited. IIT Mandi labs have failed to meet IIT standards and are decked with outdated equipment.
The labs of the School of Engineering and the School of Computing and Electrical Engineering are not at all good and have very limited operational capacities.
Keeping all the above factors in mind, it's better to go for IIT Ropar. Additionally, it is recommended that you visit the websites of both institutions and speak with current students or faculty members to get a better sense of what each has to offer.
What is better EE at IIT Kanpur or CSE at IIT Roorkee?
Both EE at IIT Kanpur and CSE at IIT Roorkee are well-recognized academic institutions in India. However, the choice between EE at IIT Kanpur and CSE at IIT Roorkee completely depends on your career goals and preferences.
- IIT Roorkee is a better choice as it is one of the oldest institutions and holds 5th rank by NIRF ranking in 2023.
- The total course fee for 4 years of BTech CSE is INR 893400.
- The placement opportunity offered by IIT Roorkee is very positive.

Does IPM IIM Indore have a foreign student exchange programme?
Some of my friends studying at IIM Indore mentioned that yes, IPM has a foreign student exchange program. The students usually go in their 3rd or 5th year. They get to study one whole trimester (3 months). They will get an opportunity to study in the universities IIM Indore has collaborated with.

NIT Hamirpur BTech in CSE is one of the most coveted programs of the institute. Contrary to the rumors, the institute has a well-established coding culture.
