In what ways can anyone change their branch after 1st year in NIT Agartala?

SG
Sugandhi Garg Posted On : September 20th, 2023
Studied Computer Science at National Institute of Technology, Agartala

For students willing to change their branch after the first year, NIT Agartala has the provision of the branch slinging policy wherein you need an overall CGPA of about 9 for the first year.

However, before taking this decision always analyze the pros and cons because the branch does not matter much. Rather your determination and skills matter. Look for your real passion instead of running after the top branches. This sheep mentality won’t take you a long way and will rob you of your passions. So even while changing branches, don’t go for the branch with better placements, rather go for the branch where you have more interest.

So, getting a CGPA of above 9 will guarantee you a seat in your desired branch at NIT Agartala.

Which is better for post graduation in civil engineering? NICMAR or M.Tech through GATE?

SP
Sahil Pal Posted On : October 11th, 2021
Studied Ph.D Civil Engineering & Transportation Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (2022)

If you really want to pursue a career in the Technical field then it will be suggested to go with M.Tech as you might get ended up in some renowned structural engineer. You can also pursue any other subject as well if you are interested.

This will open an opportunity in doing a lectureship in college. By doing so, you can further pursue Ph.D.

It would be highly suggested to go with GATE only if you are getting into top IITs and NITs as it will make an impact on future references.

Apart from this, if your interest area is in Civil engineering but in a different domain, then go for NICMAR as it will open the option for accounting, marketing, business development, contracts, planning, valuation, execution, etc. By doing so, you might as well end up as a successful corporate or entrepreneur.

SD
Shubhangi Dutt Posted On : May 5th, 2023
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (2022)

When considering a certain program, there are 2 things to choose from; the institute and the branch. So my answer talks about both, IIT Guwahati in general and MTech in Computational Mechanics.

IIT Guwahati

  • IIT Guwahati is known for its extremely beautiful campus that encompasses natural beauty and offers a serene ambiance.
  • The accommodation facilities of IIT Guwahati are excellent with every student getting a single room irrespective of their branch and specialization.
  • IIT Guwahati gives equal importance to extracurricular activities and various clubs and societies help promote the same.

Computational Mechanics

This course is the perfect blend of Mechanics and programming. The key highlights pertaining to the course are

  • The theoretical part primarily comprises FEM (Finite Element Methods) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)
  • Numerical analysis is also a significant part of this course. Maths lovers may find it interesting
  • C programming is also a part of the course
  • You will be taught ANSYS at a computational mechanics lab
  • A wide ocean of electives is available in the second semester wherein you can easily opt for subjects from the fluid, thermal, design, and manufacturing field.
  • CM students are eligible to sit for all core placements with some companies specifically asking for them. Most of the companies recruit M.Tech Mechanical students for their R&D sector.
  • If you invest a lot of effort and do your best, you can become a CAE (Computational Aided Engineering) engineer by the end of 2 years.

Overall staying and studying at IIT Guwahati will offer you a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you will cherish for the coming years.

What is the formula for converting a CGPA to a percentage in IIM Indore?

A
Admin Posted On : January 3rd, 2023

The basic grades and their equivalent percentages are determined by the Programme Executive Committee. They are more or less the same across programs (PGP, IPM, etc).

The formula for converting CGPA to a percentage:

if you have a GPA of 3.33, it would be equivalent to the percentage of 83.33+{(3.33–3.3)/(3.4–3.3)}*(86.67–83.33).

Studied at Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (Graduated 2022)

NSUT Delhi is a premier engineering college now known as NSUT located in the capital city of India. Here are a few pros and cons that might give you a brief idea about the institute

Pros:

  1. The attendance policies aren't very rigid and professors are least bothered about students attending the classes.
  2. The academic workload is quite light and one can score well in exams by just studying one or two weeks before the exams.
  3. You will be exposed to a smart peer group and learn a lot from them.
  4. NSUT Delhi offers excellent placement and internship opportunities. This year the median package was recorded at INR 16 LPA. Top recruiters included Microsoft, Amazon, Texas Instrument, Google, Qualcomm, Cisco, Hero Moto Corp, etc
  5. The college gives enough importance to extracurriculars and many student-run societies promote them.

Cons:

  1. NSUT infrastructure is in a poor state although gradual changes are being made to improve the infrastructure and other facilities.
  2. The classes are boring and monotonous so the students are left with no choice but to self-study.

The pros overshadow the cons so NSUT Delhi is a decent choice.
