Which program should I choose: IT at MNNIT Allahabad or ICE at NSIT?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : August 23rd, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

Choosing one between IT at MNNIT Allahabad and ICE at NSIT depends on a number of factors. As a whole, the IT branch is better than ICE in terms of job opportunities. But the better choice for you depends on your individual circumstance. Here are a few scenarios and the most preferable choice to be made in those scenarios

  • If you are a Delhite, then choosing MNNIT Allahabad won’t do you much good as you will be losing the comfort of your home. Moreover, there isn’t much difference in the opportunities offered in IT MNNIT and ICE NSIT.
  • Your future prospects also affect the choice of your college. If you are planning to do an MBA, join civil services, or M. S. from abroad then choose NSIT Delhi. This is because Delhi has excellent coaching institutes and will offer better opportunities.
  • NSIT has amazing non-tech opportunities so if you aren’t interested in CS then go for NSIT Delhi as it offers a more all-rounded experience.

Ultimately, the final choice will depend on the factors you prioritize.

Which college is better for CSE or IT engg., Vidyalankar Institute of Technology or Atharva College of Engineering?

AD
Akash Dasgupta Posted On : January 12th, 2021
VIT Mumbai

Vidyalankar Institute of Technology is not a good option if you are opting for CSE or IT engineering. One of my friends studying there said that it is not a good educational institute and has numerous flaws.

Categories

Vidyalankar Institute

Atharva College

Course Fee

5.48-6 lakh

4.8-5.08 lakh

Highest CTC

8 LPA

10 LPA

Average CTC

5 LPA

5-6 LPA

These pointers will make you look deeper into the Vidyalankar Institute as an educational institution -

  1. The faculty of Vidyalankar Institute are neither skilled or professional, nor is the course completed on time.
  2. Faculties are not very helpful and do not coordinate well with students.
  3. The assignments given in class are not practical or industry oriented.
  4. Apart from studies, extracurriculars at Vidyalankar are also not encouraged. Students also cannot be part of clubs or societies.
  5. Curriculum structure and college activities are not up to mark.
  6. Attendance is given more importance than knowledge in Vidyalankara, thus it does not match with the students preferences.
  7. Only the computer department of Vidyalankar Institute is better among the others.
  8. Vidyalankar Institute does not have an extensive alumni.

Therefore, choosing the Vidyalankar Institute of Technology would not be a good option for CSE or IT engineering.

Which is the better branch in SOE, CUSAT: CS or IT?

SK
Shubham Kumar Posted On : February 12th, 2021
Former Student at Cochin University Of Science and Technology (2016-2020)

One of my friends shared his experience of being a student of IT in SOE. His first choice was CS during registration but he was given IT due to his rank. Initially, he missed CS and remained worried about being in a different branch. But he finally understood that IT was better than CS.

The following points are based on his experience at the campus:

  • The faculty members at CS are very strict when compared to IT.
  • The administration level is also managed at IT. You will experience a lot of hassle in CS even if you want a sign on any application.
  • The syllabus of IT is comparatively better than CS.
  • Speaking of IT & CS in SOE, there is also a difference in the way both these courses are managed by the faculties. Both have amazing and experienced faculties taking care of the subjects and therefore it will not be fair to prefer one over another.
  • This is naturally because of the difference in subjects both the branches have and a different approach is needed for the faculties to explain them to the students.

It is also suggested by many seniors and experienced friends that you take a closer and detailed look at the placements of every year for both these branches at CUSAT before taking the call. There is always a slight difference in the placement every year depending on the industrial, market requirements, and interests of the students.

The following table shows the placement statistics for the 2020 academic year at CUSAT:

Total Number of Offers

300

Total placed students

306

Highest package

15 LPA

Average package

4.7 LPA

Getting in touch with the students, faculty, and college staff is a good way to understand both the branches better and closer. Remember that you should not completely rely on your friends’ or seniors’ opinionated suggestions.
