Two of my close friends are studying at NIT Surathkal and MNNIT Allahabad respectively and often I hear them comparing their colleges based on some aspects. 

• Environment: Both NITs have a well-maintained and lush green campus. NIT Surathkal has a slight advantage because of its private beach. So, if you love beaches and swimming NIT Surathkal is for you. NIT Allahabad offers scenic views at Sangam and students enjoy taking holy baths and spending evenings there.
• Faculty: MNNIT Allahabad are very friendly and often use their native language during lectures while NIT Surathkla professors are a nit professional and never use their native language in the classroom.
• Placements : The average package of IT at NIT Suratkal is INR 23.03 LPA while that of CSE at MNNIT is INR 27.07 LPA. MNNIT Allahabad has slightly better placements although NIT Surathkal has a better location. 
• Food: It may be difficult to get non-veg food in Allahabad within the hostel premises. In NIT-S, there is no such restriction and a variety of non-veg food is offered. 

Ultimately, the choice is yours!

A lot of factors need to be considered while choosing one between NSIT IT and NIT Kurukshetra CS. If you are someone who wants a happening and vibrant campus life, and also an active social life at clubs, malls, water parks, and all that, you need to go for NSIT Delhi because the capital has a lot of such places. It will be difficult to have a fun-filled life at NIT Kurukshetra. However, the outside life does not matter much because you will hardly have any free time to hang out. So it’s not the only criteria you should consider.

The placement scenario of both the institutes is somewhat similar and almost every company that visits NSIT visits NITK as well.A few times NSIT students did receive exceptionally good packages but that happens rarely. Overall, there isn’t much difference in terms of packages and job opportunities.

The academic environment at both the institutes is great and both have excellent and some diametrically opposite professors. NIT Kurukshetra has a better coding culture. This is because there is no outside life so the majority of students spend time in hostels resulting in intense competition among them.

As an alumnus of VNIT Nagpur, I will share some pros and cons of studying CSE from there. To know about the CSE at NIT Calicut and NIT Rourkela, you can consult the alumni from those institutions.

Pros of studying CSE at VNIT Nagpur-

1. The placements for CSE branch are excellent. The majority of students (around 75%) are placed within the initial months of the final year. Those who are not placed mostly have very low grades or backlogs (at most 10-15 students out of around 90).
2. The Alumni Internship allows 2nd and 3rd year students to intern at the companies of college alumni.
3. The CSE faculty is quite good and experienced. 
4. The coding culture is good with a coding club and monthly internal coding contests.
5. Visiting faculties from IT companies like Persistent and Infosys offers exposure to industry standards and the latest industry developments.
6. Lab work and assignments allow students to put their skills to practice. You will get ample time to publish research papers or work on your own projects as a CSE student over there.

Cons-

1. Summers are hot in Nagpur, especially during April and May. But the weather is fine for the rest of the year.
2. The college offers all the courses required for B.Tech. But some advanced elective courses like Computational Biology are not offered. However, such courses are not guaranteed to be offered by other NITs as well.

After looking into the various factors, make an informed choice for your CSE among VNIT Nagpur, NIT Calicut, and NIT Rourkela. VNIT Nagpur is a great choice for a CSE as per my personal experience.

My sister too had to choose between IIT Mandi and another institute but chose IIT Mandi mainly because of its highly lenient branch change policy.

Placement-wise too, IIT Mandi gives an edge to DTU and NSIT. Here is a head-on comparison between the placement statistics of IIT Mandi and DTU.

While the highest CTC of DTU might seem higher, it’s the average package that actually determines the placement scenario of an institute. Considering that IIT Mandi is better than DTU. In fact, Electrical in IIT Mandi is even then DTU. Secondly, DTU’s increasing batch size is another major concern these days. I personally think DTU is overhyped because of its NCR location. Considering the fact that Delhiites get a quota of 80% you can infer how diluted the talent pool of DTU is.

IIIT Delhi is better for CSE. It is an excellent option for CSE. The department has an excellent faculty base. IIIT Delhi has an active coding culture. If you are interested in coding, you will love being on campus.

The institute has an impressive placement record. IIIT Delhi placements 2022 concluded with an average package of INR 19.76 LPA. 

NIT Silchar seems to be a better option for CSE than NIT Hamirpur and UPES Dehradun. Here are some unique aspects of NIT Silchar that make it stand apart from these colleges

• NIT Silchar is one of the 3 NITs that have a supercomputer.
• NIT Silchar is above many NITs in the MHRD rankings so it should be given high preference.
• NIT Silchar has amazing infrastructural facilities such as an Auditorium, Stadiums, Courts, Sports Complex, Boating Club, the largest Central Library, etc

The above points are more than enough to convince you to join NIT Silchar instead of UPES Dehradun and NIT Hamirpur.
