A student's life in IIM Bangalore is a blend of stress and fun. The first 2 semesters are quite tough since the curriculum here is very extensive. But you don’t have to give up on this pressure and by 3rd term, you will see yourself adapting to it. Also, the initial terms are when you make the best friends of your life. Your company will define how the following two years will shape you into a new person.
To maintain rigor the institute organized frequent quizzes and group projects. You are required to multitask and also prioritize your tasks. This will continue for 5-6 courses. You will get enough relaxation through fests, and breaks during summer and final placements.
Ultimately what will matter for an IIM Bangalore student is their final grade and what memories they created within the campus in 2 years.
IIM Bangalore's reputation will be sufficient to connect you to a number of good job opportunities. Aside from the good placement cell, IIMB has an excellent brand name and alum base. As a result, continuing with the course makes sense. Do some research and look up the connections on LinkedIn to learn more from the source.
Students will be prepared to assume leadership roles in using analytics and artificial intelligence to solve increasingly complex problems through the two-year, full-time, residential program. It lasts for two years, six trimesters long, and includes a summer project in the middle.
IIM Bangalore has been rated 9.2 out of 10 by the Collegedunia experts. IIMB ranked second among all topmost institutes of management in India. It would be a good option for pursuing Business Analytics & Intelligence (BAI).
A few advantages of this course from IIMB are mentioned below:
In order to pursue Business Analytics from IIM Bangalore, you should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Science/Commerce/Arts with mathematics as one of the subjects during your Bachelor’s program. The candidates who are shortlisted are then interviewed based on their performance on the online aptitude test and past academic performance, quality of work experience, and suitability for an analytics position.
Although the preferable work experience is 3 years, in certain cases, people with lesser work experience are also granted admission.
Overall, in order to pursue a Business Analytics course, you need excellent grades, 3 years of work experience, and a decent knowledge of statistics. Additionally, you will have to prepare well to answer Why you want to pursue the course and how are you planning to apply analytics in your work.
I have a few friends from IIM Bangalore and they were able to give some information regarding the clubs at the institute.
One of my friends was a part of the Drama Club and his experience was pretty good. Hope this helps.
The academics and the opportunities offered at the top IIMs are similar. IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta offer similar academics, facilities, and peer groups. Irrespective of which IIM you are choosing, you will get similar placement and internship opportunities. The rankings keep changing and people have this perceived notion that IIM Ahmedabad is the no 1 b-school in the country, due to its long-standing legacy.
A few of my friends graduated from IIM Bangalore. Here are some of the facts that they shared with me.
These were some beautiful facts about IIM Bangalore.
IIM Bangalore has many, not one USPs. Here are some that caught my attention the most.
Location: Unlike other IIMs located on the outskirts of cities, IIM Bangalore enjoys situated at the heart of the city. Students need not travel far for shopping or other fun activities.
Sports center: IIM Bangalore is heaven for sports freaks. Its vast infrastructure comprises a sports center where badminton, squash, pool, table tennis, cricket, volleyball, and basketball are played.
Swimming pool: IIM Bangalore is the first and only IIM to have swimming pool facilities.
Surreal campus: IIM Bangalore has a lush green campus with paved roads around ideal for late-night walks. The temperature here is moderate due to the excess greenery.
NSRCEL: This is the most eye-catching feature of IIM Bangalore. NSRCEL is an entrepreneurship cell that promotes the startup ideas of aspiring entrepreneurs. It even holds Launchpad programs that give vast knowledge about the startup world. NSRCEL has incubated many well-known startups.
All these amazing features are the USPS of IIM Bangalore.
One cannot really compare the enriched experience and worth of old IIMs to the newer ones. No matter how high grades you score in the older IIMs, they can never be at par even with the average marks of an old IIM student. Their skills, knowledge, and confidence are at another level. Older IIMs help you achieve bigger goals and earn much more. So it’s better if you are an average student at an old IIM than a topper at a new IIM.
I have drawn a clear comparison between IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore based on the following parameters:
Campus size: IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore both has a campus of 100 Acres.
Hostel: IIM Ahmedabad has 25 student dormitories with a total capacity to hold about 740 occupants. IIM Bangalore also offers single-room occupancy to its students.
Internet facility: Both the hostels have a 24/7 internet connection.
Crowd Diversity: IIM Bangalore is slightly at an advantage here because IIM Ahmedabad lays more emphasis on the engineering background of students.
Learning experience: IIM Ahmedabad is more academically oriented whereas IIM Bangalore focuses on the overall development of its students.
Rigour: The faculty strength, academic mix, and more balanced approach to extra-curricular activities make IIM Ahmedabad a better one in this regard.
Fees: IIMA- INR 23 LPA, IIMB- INR 24.5 LPA.
Placements: It will be unjustified to decide which IIM of the two offers better placement opportunities. This is because both offer the best but in their respective specialties. IIMB offers more placement in IT functions and IT/E-commerce industry whereas IIMA offers better consulting and financial services.
Based on the above factors we can infer that no B-School is better than the other. It all depends on how well you make use of the resources and achieve your goals. Both the IIMs will definitely give you a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
