Why is IIM, Bangalore not able to become number 1, surpassing IIM, Ahmedabad?

There is quite a stiff competition between IIM Bangalore and IIM Ahmedabad. As long as this competition exists, it won’t be able to outperform its counterpart. IIM Bangalore needs to carve out a niche of its own and should do better than its past self.

IIM Ahmedabad - Reputation:

• International reputation-wise as well, IIM Ahmedabad has strived to create one and is quite well known. According to the QS Global MBA Ranking 2021, IIM Ahmedabad is ranked 50. 
• Word of mouth is that whatever IIM Ahmedabad does, it becomes a trend. 

IIM Bangalore will only be able to compete at this level only when it does something other than what IIM Ahmedabad has already done.

IIM Calcutta:

• IIM Calcutta has remained nonchalant about beating IIM Ahmedabad and becoming the first choice for CAT aspirants. 
• Rather, they have created their own culture and ambiance which is becoming noticeable and is well revered throughout the country. 

IIM Bangalore does not have anything much that stands out other than the obvious competition with IIM Ahmedabad. This has especially become much stronger after the new Placement Chair assumed the position.
